"Wikipedia:Ownership of articles"

I was not claiming ownership. Nor would I or do I pass negative opinions of photos created by others. I merely observed that the photo -- taken, as I said, by me -- is inadequate for enormous expansion. Masalai (talk) 14:09, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the copy edit on Olympic Dam Airport. :D

LauraHale (talk) 11:07, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

The link works for me. (Assuming the page is a whole bunch of PDFs.) I took the Olympic Dam Airport article to DYK because I wanted an Olympics related DYK and with Olympic in the name, it made me giggle. :) If there is anything that can be done to expand it more, that would be good. I don't edit airports much to know if flight schedules go on there, but considering the size of the airport, it didn't seem unreasonable to add it. --LauraHale (talk) 11:30, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Sydney weatherbox

There is a proposal at Talk:Sydney#Sunshine hours to use mean monthly sunshine hours in {{Sydney weatherbox}} instead of daily figures, despite the Bureau of Meteorology providing daily figures. An editor has gone ahead and converted daily to monthly figures by multiplying the daily figures for every month by 28.25.[1] I note that you specifically addressed this at Template talk:Weather box#Sunshine hours per day,[2] and was wodering if you might be prepared to comment at the Sydney discussion. The same "daily x 28.25" conversion seems to have been carried out at Melbourne and probably other articles as well. --AussieLegend (talk) 07:15, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Cedar-Riverside

Hi CambridgeBayWeather. I'm not sure if you remember the issue on the Riverside Plaza article last summer involving pov-pushing & racial edits; you protected the page and twice blocked the disruptive single purpose account in question (c.f. [3]). However, there now appears to be a similar situation over on the Cedar-Riverside, Minneapolis page. Same obsure Minneapolis neighborhood, obsession with Somalis & race, and pov-spinning. Both pages are also infrequently edited, with less than 30 watchers each. Despite this, there has been a rash of edits these past few days by single purpose accounts on the Cedar-Riverside page (note the time stamps [4], [5]). If possible, could you please have a look and add the page to your watchlist? Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 11:33, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Requesting your insights and perspectives

Hi CBW, thank you again for your help with the WP policies almost two months ago (translations from foreign-language sources into English, Re: Resource-based economy, The Zeitgeist Movement and Peter Joseph). Would you be interested in contributing to the DRN concerning adding L. Susan Brown to the 'See also' section of The Zeitgeist Movement (TZM). Some of us believe the inclusion of Brown’s expertise, deep knowledge and perspective is helpful not just for the sake of fairness, but, more importantly, because it provides a female perspective that would supply depth and context to the TZM article. Other editors oppose that view. Best regards, IjonTichyIjonTichy (talk) 13:58, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

My edited version of a page was rejected by you and reverted back to the original as described below.

Hi CBW:

I received the following email message:

"The Wikipedia page "Imamah (Ismaili doctrine)" has been changed on 22 July 2012 by CambridgeBayWeather, with the edit summary: Reverted to revision 499180465 by 68.248.0.10: Restore categories and sources. (TW)"

Since I am a new contributor it is possible i have done something wrong so could you please explain why my editing was rejected in full? I'd like to ensure that the info on Ismailism is correct since I am an Ismaili also. Thank you. salim e-a ebrahim Salim e-a ebrahim (talk) 17:53, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Editing the page: Imamah (Ismaili doctrine)

I have read all the many items that you suggested I read so as to grasp the basics of editing properly on Wiki. I am now ready but I do not want to start from where I left off because I do not know how to bring back all the references that I had removed (which was done during an experimental error - I should have used the sandbox; but I was too new).

Problem is that I cannot find the edit button to start afresh. There are only the 2 buttons left instead of the original 3.

I have realized also that I shall have to clarify in that article that there are two Ismaili groups altho the word Ismaili is used commonly for the one known as the "NIzari Ismaili" (shortened to simply "Ismaili") and the other is commonly known as the "Bohra". The later group (the "Bohra") includes Hassan bin Ali as an Imam (who is also an Imam of all the rest of the Shia groups except for the Shia "Ismailis" (i.e. Shia "Nizari Ismailis).

Without getting into more of this, the above info is just enough information for you to realize that the article needs re-doing - a little bit at least.

Also the article seems to have been done by a Nizari Ismaili like me (one called Salman Spiritual) who I think took a crosscut and avoided the matter I am pursuing. The article has most of the info from his website - so it is really all opinion without clarifying the matter as does the main Wiki article as per its sub-heading below: List of Ismaili imams http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ismaili_imams In here the Nizari Imams are shown correctly to be 49 in number without the inclusion of Hassan bin Ali as their 2nd Imam.

So, could you please bring back the edit button so I can start from scratch? I had never thot that I would get involved with so much time input! Regards Salim e-a ebrahim (talk) 13:40, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Bay Weather:

Thanks for the link you provided which made it possible for me to access the article - somehow the edit button is missing even now.

I have finished my side for now and the ball is now in the Islam discussion group if they feel they want to edit it further. As for the reference given by the previous edit (your statement: the paragraph "According to Ismailis, externally..." was sourced and you changed it to an unsourced version) was not a "sourced" reference but only appeared to be a reference. In reality it was simply a link to an opinion on the website "Salman Spiritual" (or something like that name) made by the owner of that website (who claims to be a Nizari Ismaili) which is all opinion with a false "reference" to the Nizari Ismaili Constitution because there is no relevance to what is discussed here with the Ismaili constitution! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Salim e-a ebrahim (talkcontribs) 18:10, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

I undid your revert here. The edit was clearly in WP:Good Faith, not vandalism, and appears to me to be an improvement over the original. Wikilinking "inflatable" and "flexible" to the articles on inflation and stiffness/flexibility makes more sense than linking the entire phrase "inflatable flexible bag" to just Inflation. This is in relation to a recent edit you performed on Wahhabi. It is a extremist (or fundamentalist) branch and has no association with the moderate Sunni sect in Islam. Its leaders are highly refuted in the Sunni domain, and as Saudi History shows, are not related, in any way, to the Sunni sect. They have their own leaders, laws, beliefs and systems, contrary to that of Sunni muslims. Theone998.

Boolgeeda Airport

I'm not sure it is asphalt yet. That is supposed to be finished at the end of the year so they can land 737's on it. I will take a drive out tomorrow if I get a chance and see if I can get a picture, if they let me get close enough. Calistemon (talk) 23:14, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Looking at the amount of dust coming off its probably only dirt. I think they have landed Fokker 100s there in the past but right now its only really used for the Royal Flying Doctors. I don't think it will be guarded like a military airport, I see what the sineage says. Calistemon (talk) 00:36, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Lots of earth works going on, they are currently compacting the runway. It's been extended, too, the road passing it to B2 has been moved on the western end. We couldn't get close enough for a picture however, to busy and to many signs up. We will have to wait. Calistemon (talk) 03:49, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
You've created an amazing amount of WA airport articles there! About the Bronzewing Airport, I would say your source in regards to the operator is probably outdated as Newmont sold the mine years ago and is unlikely to still operate the airport. I haven't got a source but it would probably be the current owner, Navigator, who would now operate it. Keep well, got to do some work now, Calistemon (talk) 04:13, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure about the proximity of the airport to the mine. Maybe it wasn't part of the tenement sold by Newmont. I would have to go throught the old ASX announcements to find out. As we don't have a source saying it isn't owned by Newmont there is no reason to change it as yet, I guess. Calistemon (talk) 04:37, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Due to the way the licence for Wikipedia works there is no way that you can post material here and claim copyright over it. Anything posted to Wikipedia is usable by anybody else. They only thing that you can do is to re-write the material for Wikipedia. At the same time you need to show how the organisation would meet Wikipedia notability standards. For that see Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). I should also mention Wikipedia:Conflict of interest which does not stop you from writing about something you are associated with but does warn about being careful. User:WPPilot is quite upset about the deletion of Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club

Hi there!

Yesterday, while I was patrolling new pages from the back of the queue, I nominated the article Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club for speedy deletion under the A7 CSD, as a non-notable club or organization, on the basis of a lack of assertion of notability in the article and only one source. This article was later speedy deleted by you, in accordance with the criteria specified.

This morning, however, I received a message from the article's creator, WPPilot, who was, and remains, quite upset that his contribution was deleted. In comments posted on my talk page, he stated that "The story was GONE by the time I got to my computer and would have been able to edit it." and stated that the article was clearly notable: "You are out of line in removing that story. Its notability was clear and I will now have to restore the story...I had first posted my intent on the Newport Beach talk page over a year ago..."

Notwithstanding the fact that I've never even seen that article, I still believe the original decision was correct; the article had a lack of reliable sources and made no claims of notability, and as it was created almost a month ago it seemed to me just another unremarkable club. However, WPPilot claims that a good argument can be made for its notability, and although he has yet to state why or provide me with reliable sources I'm willing to believe that this might in fact be the case. Unfortunately, WPPilot appears extremely upset about the decision; as can been seen from further comments posted on my talk page (The entire exchange on my page at the time of this posting is included below for your convenience:)

"You are out of line in removing that story. Its notability was clear and I will now have to restore the story.--WPPilot 08:42, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

The story was GONE by the time I got to my computer and would have been able to edit it. It is the effort of people like YOU that dissuade me from doing further work on WIki, it is frustrating and I have grown tired of the petty tagging that others like you seem to enjoy doing. I dont care to be honest with you about it any more as you petty taggers make editing Wikipedia a waste of my time.--WPPilot 14:28, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Your account is new, yet you sure seem to know a great deal about editing and TAGGING in Wikipedia. Is this account your first effort here on Wikipedia or are you hiding from something?--WPPilot 14:30, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Responses posted on User:WPPilot's talk page. Zaldax (talk) 15:13, 8 August 2012 (UTC) Those responses are [here]. They have been deleted once already, so I included the link to the latest revision where they were present.

I had first posted my intent on the Newport Beach talk page over a year ago, no one helps in any way, I spend half the time I edit dealing with drive by taggers and outright dingdongs that only seem to want to TAG and RUN. What is the point? No one uses the TALK pages for anything other then to apply tags. So I really see no point anymore in continuing to work on things that no one cares to contribute to. It is great pointing out fault if that keeps you going but I need to focus my efforts on something else as I really no longer care to create things that others just delete and distroy. Good Luck, ya right I am done --WPPilot 15:21, 8 August 2012 (UTC)"

In response to my restoration of his deletion of my comments on his talk page (Which, granted, was his prerogative, but I restored with an additional comment as the issue remained unresolved), he posted this on my talk page:

"LEAVE MY TALK PAGE ALONE PLEASE AND GO AWAY, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU ON WIKI, DONT YOU GET IT. GO AWAY, I AM OVER IT. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS AND AM FIRM IN MY CONVICTIONS. I could care less if anyone restores the story at this point, I would rather not deal with the likes of people like you, DO YOU UNDERSTAND? Far far far too many people on Wiki are far to willing to ignore the talk page, and just run around plugging tags to delete on pages under production. I owe you a thank you as my time will now be more productive and you as well as others can run around and tag away to delete this site alltogether if you like in due time, Keep up the good work and LEAVE ME ALONE.--WPPilot 15:32, 8 August 2012 (UTC)"

As you can see, this editor is clearly upset, and it shows. I took a look at his contributions, and he's really been quite the prolific contributor in the past: some of the photographs he's taken have reached featured picture status, and he's received numerous barnstars in the past; it'd be a shame to lose someone like him over a momentary setback. I've already tried talking to him, but I don't think he wants to hear from me right now. If it's not too much trouble, could you possibly have a few words with him?

I'll leave the comments on my talk page for now, but please note I intend to delete most of them shortly. As a former lurker and a newly-registered editor who took the time to figure things out, I've already received enough accusations of sock-puppetry/multiple accounts from unhappy editors. I don't need more of them in my own userspace. Thanks for your help! Cheers! Zaldax (talk) 15:49, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

I am not upset, I am frustrated and tired of editing on Wikipedia only to have to deal with people that are not willing to help. It is a lot like a School Yard Bully mentality in that SO MANY EDITORS are on this site simply to apply removal tags regardless of what the editors intentions were and what the TALK page says regarding the project. My contributions value to this site are, without question in the thousands of dollars in terms of value, I am a world traveled and globally published photographer and I take a great deal of time to research my efforts here, as I have been from the day I started the account.

Yesterday I recevied, on my phone a notice that my latest project was tagged to be removed. I came home in the early AM to edit it and it was GONE. Now I have taken my own time, and money to go down to and photograph the location, and if anyone would have been willing to help with the effort rather then point out the faults with the story and tag it, then many stories in Sailing publications the world over have mention of this yacht club and it would have been easy to simply add the ref, rather then remove the page via a drive by TAG.

Notability as the policy herein Wikipedia can also be obtained by a website that is maintained by the sorce if the sorce has no intrest in the objective of the information. Here is sorce of some of my frustration: The terms of notability are most of the time manipulated by users that are "doing a service" removing data that is valuable data from a encyclopedia. I feel and am entitled to feel that this is counter productive to the objective of Wikipedia.

In regard to this issue, lets first review the Newport Beach page. I am 50 years old and grew up here, so it is safe to say that I have some history that as you can see from the edit logs has been transfewred into this page & website. About a year or so ago (see Newport Beach TALK page) I posted that I was planning on extending the Newport Beach page by elaborating and extending each of the many clubs that are located in the harbor. Each of these clubs is IMHO notable in its own right, and simply put the standard for consideration in this effort should be "Is a club a recognized Yacht Club" and that consideration should really end at that but a policy is a policy so we march onward.

Back to my story: So I had as we have seen already done some editing on Newport Beach related stories, and had posted for a year my desire to extend the stories related to Natical Clubs of Newport Beach. I ahve taken a great deal of time to go to each club and for the benifit of Wikipedia take high quality photos and donate them to Wiki commons. I have also spent thousands of dollars renting Airplanes and doing photos that have as the user mentions above been mentioned as quality efforts. I have done this on my own dime to help Wikipedia become a sorce of valuable information regarding the history of this area.

Yesterday morning, like a fool I drove my car to Bahia Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club and did some more photos, to get ready to create the balance of the pages that I listed on the Newport Beach Talk site and as I was driving to LA, I got a e mail that Bahia Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club was going to be removed. First off it was my current template for the rest of the clubs "start" and I was going to work on them this weekend, but now Bahia Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club, and my template is gone.

The project that I was working on, and had announced via the Newport Beach talk page are listed below:

Nautical Clubs of Newport Beach

Newport Harbor Yacht Club I created this page Balboa Yacht Club I created this page Balboa Bay Club I created most everything on this page

I have photos for and had planned on doing these next: Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club South Shore Yacht Club Newport Beach Yacht Club

Then move on to:

Lido Isle Yacht Club American Legion Yacht Club Newport Ocean Sailing Association Newport Sea Base Yacht Club Orange Coast College Sailing Center Association U.C. Irvine Sailing Association

I was lucky enough to encounter drive by taggers during the creation of the first 2, and as you can see from the BBC logs I spent weeks on that one. Each of the clubs should have a page that looks like what I have created but my template and the next site were removed by you & Zaldax. So I see no point in continuing, or working on this project any more, as it would seem that far too many people are, IMHO Wiki bullys that are only able to pick on fault, and do drive by taggging regardless of the editors intention or what the talk pages clearly state and not offer and help to benifit the overall cause. signed, frustrated--WPPilot 17:08, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Something to consider in the future when adding to or creating a See also section is the addition of Portal links. So for the Queensland airport articles to which you recently added the list link, it would of been great to also add {{Portal|Queensland}} at the top of the section. - Shiftchange (talk) 11:19, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi CambridgeBayWeather. If it's not any trouble, could you monitor the situation over on the Somali presidential election, 2012 and Transitional Federal Government articles? I have left some new comments on the election article's talk page regarding certain edits that were made. Can you please have a look and comment on whether or not you think they are a fair assessment? Best, Middayexpress (talk) 17:12, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi Cbw. Although you already commented on the situation, there seems to be some disagreement now over what exactly is your position on the issue. The other editor has insisted that comments must be made on the article's talk page or they are null and void. When you have the time, could you please drop by the discussion page and leave your two cents? I've already opened an rfc for a wider consensus, but I think it would be best if you were to respond in the section above it where your comments are mentioned. Cheers, Middayexpress (talk) 14:25, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Salt River First Nation #195 and Akaitcho Territorial Government

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fort_Smith,_Northwest_Territories

While I do concur that yours is the more accurate statement, based upon the source that I have provided, you neglected to cite your source for the undoing of my revision of Salt River First Nation #195 no longer being part of the Akaitcho initially. The news article does state that a required six month notice is given to the various governing bodies but the reality is that Salt River First Nation #195 is no longer part of the Akaitcho. Being a lifelong resident of Fort Smith, my intetion was as a form of respect to the Salt River First Nation #195 in establishing their own unique identity apart from the Akaitcho. In my opinion it is merely semantics that this reality be reflected now or within the timeframe indicated in the article. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.126.102.88 (talk) 18:29, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

The sources were already in he article and were numbered 12 and 13. The thing is that the article should reflect what the sources say and not what we know to be the truth. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 18:36, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Robert Conrad (sourcing)

Robert_Conrad If you find a minute, there's an ongoing issue with a date of birth for Robert Conrad. Conrad was thought to have been born in 1935 until a DUI arrest and court documents showing his DOB as 1929. Currently User:Rms125a@hotmail.com is editing in the 1935 year based on what Robert Conrad said during one of his radio broadcasts. The bio is losing a lot of sourced material with these edits as well as any information about the age discrepancy. There's a related discussion on the talk page. As always, thank you for your attention. Eudemis (talk) 19:03, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments in Canada - Lists of historic places

Hello CambridgeBayWeather,

I saw that you worked on these lists since couple days, but it seems that there are mistakes. I have started a discussion on the Canadian Wikipedians' notice board : Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board#Wiki Loves Monuments in Canada - Lists of historic places. And hopefully you will not hate me too much! Thanks for the great work you have done. Best regards Benoit Rochon (talk) 14:27, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

My modifications

First of all, in Spanish diacritics are used so el Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepción de Cebú is correct. You are patently ignorant of that.

Kwh and m³ are the common unit of measurement now in Britain, just come to where I live, if you live in England, and every gas meter is calibrated now in m³ and the old-style are in the process of being updated.

In the United Kingdom the only tonne we use is the 1 000 kg one, which if you look at the traffic signs are so. Therefore, I was essentially modernising the information.

I suppose you are American so you are not to know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Felipito1.966 (talkcontribs) 19:26, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud

Hi CBW. If you have the time, I was wondering if you could perhaps have a look at the Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud page? There have been various ips and accounts that have been adding some inaccurate material and/or messing up the formatting. Some of it looks like deliberately disruptive editing. For example, the following edits which 1) remove reference to the fact that Mohamoud is also an entrepreneur [6], [7]; 2) reduce his academic experience from being an educator to just being a university Dean (he was also a professor) [8]; 3) remove the Personal life sub-header [9]; 4) replace the Background header with a Biography header, when the entire article is of course a biography [10]; 5) move personal details on his marriage status and what languages he speaks to the unrelated Cabinet political section [11]; 6) add original research that he obtained a Bachelor's degree from the Somali National University, while neither of the cited sources specify what sort of diploma he received from that institution [12]; 7) claim that that degree was in the field of technology, when the cited ref clearly indicates that it was in engineering [13]; 8) claim that his later Master in Business Administration from Bhopal University was actually a "Master programme technical education" [14]; 9) change the Early career header to Career, although the material there only pertains to his early career while his new career as a member of the Somali government is dealt with further down [15]; 10) remove outright allusion to the fact that he was a professor at the Somali National University [16]. I should also point out that it was precisely these sorts of disruptive BLP vios which led to the related page of the former interim President Muse Hassan Sheikh Sayid Abdulle being protected a few days ago [17]. Given this, could you please intervene and add the page to your watchlist? Best, Middayexpress (talk) 13:13, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

My modifications

Do you see that it is inconsistent and confusing as many people do not even realise that there was a "ton", now no longer used in Britain as the only spelling on signs is "tonnes". I can assure you that I am a teacher and am highly educated and a stickler for spelling and consistency. I would estimate that 99% of Britons don´t even comprehend Btus, myself included and I am 40 so it should be in Kwh. In fact, I only discovered it recently!

By the way, how does one become a Wikipedia editor? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Felipito1.966 (talkcontribs) 16:56, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Announcing my retirement and a Barnstar for you! :)

I have decided to retire from Wikipedia, I have tried my utmost to rectify Islamic articles on Wikipedia and I believe I have done as much as I possibly can however I find that editing on wikipedia is giving me a lot of stress and I am constantly checking my watchlist and receiving emails with notifications from other users and having pontless drawn out conversations on the global encyclopedia around the clock. It's a stress factor and distraction I can do without during my studies at University - I guess this is expected. May Allah guide me and you all to the straight path and keep us firm upon it. May Allah forgive me for any of my mistakes and I apologise for any rudeness or misunderstanding, all goodness is from Allah and anything bad is from either me or shaytan. Jazakum Allahu khair.

The Special Barnstar
The above is more of a generic message summing my reasons for leaving but I have to say you're pretty much the closest thing I had to a friend on here lol although we only corresponding once or twice, I'm still grateful for all of your help in combating sock puppeteers and vandals. Deh Cho Schools

Not sure if this is how people go about communicating messages, but here goes: there's a bit of inconsistency with the way the GNWT identifies regions in the NWT. So while Fort Providence and Kakisa are considered part of the South Slave according to MACA, they are not within the jurisdiction of the South Slave Divisional Education Council. Both schools belong to the Deh Cho Divisional Education Council.

When I have some time I'll add some of the GPS coordinates for the schools. Lutsel K'e and Fort Resolution may be lost causes, as the resolution won't go high enough for me to identify any of the buildings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mkenn009 (talkcontribs) 16:25, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

24 hour Block re: edit warring

Hi Cambridge,

I have already archived the block notice and thanks that my edit features have been restored. However, I would like to be objective on this, I wish you could have somehow stated the grounds of the instant blocking, aside from the edit warring allegation. I was expecting that there should have been a warning first, and as per Wikipedia blocking policy,

Blocks should not be punitive

   WP:BLOCK#NOTPUNITIVE

Blocks should not be used:

   in retaliation against users;
   to disparage other users;
   as punishment against users, or,
where there is no current conduct issue of concern.

Blocks should be preventative

   WP:BLOCK#PREVENTATIVE
   WP:BLOCK#DETERRENT

Blocks should be used to:

   prevent imminent or continuing damage and disruption to Wikipedia;
deter the continuation of present, disruptive behavior, and,
encourage a more productive, congenial editing style within community norms.

If you could have reviewed my case well, I did not revert any edits for 3 times nor disrupt the project. In fact, my edits with VERIFIABLE sources were the ones deleted. There was really no REAL concensus whatsoever, since, those editors who filed against me are all affilliated and have the same POV's in defense of their Chinese claims in the South China Sea issue. I am not saying that my post is the only right thing, but removing them (by those editors) with the fact that it has verifiable sources seems to contradict the wikipedia policy of verifiability of sources.

In fact, they have been making a lots of complaint in the WP:ANI board, just to make it appear that I am into edit-warring etc but even the administrators have warned them or there was no violation meted by the board bec. their allegations were baseless. Blocking is a serious action and somehow it affects me as an editor and everybody who experienced it with a chilling effect, I felt it was more of a punitive rather than preventive since it came instantly and was only meted on one editor, the rest of the editors who were involved in that "edit warring" issue should have been given preventive blocking or warning too, to be fair on all sides and parties, or it could have been best if the article was protected for a while if it was really "edit warring" and not just single-out one editor.

Somehow, it appears to me that some of the editors are having a game of who will be the one to make the first complaint on the WP:ANI against me.Since, they are the same editors who have been filing it. I felt that if the verifiable sources/edits I made are against their POV's, they will just brand me again as someone who disrupts though they could see my edits were based on official and verifiable sources.

Anyway, I'm just expressing my thoughts here since we all have the rights to express our opinions constructively, and I believe this would be the proper venue. I hope you will not take this as a personal retaliation or admonishion, no hard-feelings or whatsoever. You were also an Editor, before becoming an admin, I'm hoping for your understanding and putting yourself on my shoes. Thanks & God bless — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabyan17 (talkcontribs) 16:00, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Article Reversion

Hi sorry you were correct in pulling me up on the reference removal, it was indeed incorrect and disruptive, sorry. You are free to re-instate references, and this should be done, however I sincerely request you not to undo edits I made to articles, especially when I have corrected past versions and have removed bits that come from sources that are not recognised Islamic authorities or have inserted a revision, especially when sourced. Though yeh, sorry for the disruption. Thanks :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by ServantofAllah93 (talkcontribs) 17:25, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Canadian historic places lists

Hi CambridgeBayWeather, and right off let me thank you for being civil & patient about my error. You are completely correct, I missed those references. Maybe you'd agree that they aren't obvious if you're not looking for them. I'll loop back and correct myself. What would you think of a message inserted in the references section, something that says, "References appear in the table above as external links"? --Lockley (talk) 23:39, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Shia Islam

Sorry I am wondering why you undid all my edits...some of the statements were inherently biased and I sought to rectify this, however you reverted all of them. I am not trying to cause problems, I am just wondering why this was done, because I didn't understand your edit tag/statement :) ServantofAllah93 (talk) 15:52, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

[Reposting on page for future convenience] Thanks for taking the time to reply. (1) I changed the quote because it comes from a wikisource page, and this wikisource is a compilation of various other sources. However, the part in question has no reference, and so I maintain that the word "Maula" should not be translated and should instead link to the maula page, as it has a wide variety of meanings and however you translate it leads to bias. Irregardless, as I said, the quote has no valid reference. (2) Sorry, I was wrong in removing that, I just made the assumption it was clear and needed no clarification, seeing it again I was wrong. (3) Also, I looked up the source provided and could not track down the sentence I looked it up in Google books (a couple of results) with the page provided and could not find it. Besides, the sentence is very biased, and I am willing to say it is a simple lie in my opinion, but because I could not find the sentence in the supposed reference, that is why it was removed. On top of this, I believe I also made a half dozen or so edits that were all undone by you, however I still believe they remain valid. So looking forward to your reply, keep well :) ServantofAllah93 (talk) 11:48, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Inuit languages

Iqaluk = fish in general, or a specific fish depending on the region, sounds about right to me, too. Presumably it's a bit like corn in English, which can mean wheat, rye, or maize depending on which grain is the most important in a given region. Halifax Runway Length

I can't imagine why the CFS entry got changed! Here's the notam on the runway length of 05/23 - they've finished the construction on the 05 approach end and that area has now re-opened (although the new area, and the opposite end is still closed):

121944 CYHZ HALIFAX/STANFIELD INTL CYHZ RWY 05/23: MANOEUVERING AREA SOUTHWEST THR 05 DESIGNATED AS CLSD, AVBL AS RWY. RWY LEN TO READ 7644 FT DECLARED DIST: RWY 05 TORA 7644 TODA 8628 ASDA 8800 LDA 7644 RWY 23 TORA 7644 TODA 8628 ASDA 7644 LDA 7644 1209252100 TIL APRX 1210132100

(this notam is available on the NavCanada flt planning section)

As you can see, it is presently at 7644 ft, and the new length is slated to be completed by Nov 15 of this year, bringing the full length to 10,500 ft (per the HIAA site) HiFlyChick (talk) 00:22, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Just fine here, enjoying the unseasonably warm weather as it's only -7. And yourself? CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 11:20, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Oh it's all good here, Mongolian winter hasn't set in yet, we had a remarkably late autumn (can't really call it fall with no trees and leaves eh?) Just awaiting the new Khanbumbat Airport to be completed so we don't have any summer rain delays next year. Maybe they will even install lights so we can fly at night! Did you know I have been rained out of two deserts? --kelapstick(bainuu) 00:59, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
So we are not the only place where autumn has gone longer than normal. Snow was late in coming and even now although it is below freezing it is above normal. We don't seem to be getting the summer highs that we used to but the spring to autumn period is longer. I would suggest that you stay out of deserts. Request to block

Hi there again! No infobox help request from Wiki-cy. May I request a block on User:TheRedPenOfDoom who has been reverting my edits - mainly on cutting edge technology (set-top boxes etc). I'm used to the Welsh Wiki, as you know, and because I'm an Admin / Bureaucrat there I can see his footprints, and can block myself. However, here, I can't see if he's reverted other articles, or only mine. Many thanks! Llywelyn2000 (talk) 14:22, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

I dont know what the WP:NOTADVERT and WP:RS requirements are on the Welsh Wiki, but I know that utilizing a regugitated press release from a local paper to promote a company is not acceptable on English Wikipedia. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 14:30, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
I'll accept the view of both of you! My reasons for including the info are that there is only one company who upgrades low-costs TVs to Smart TVs internationally (and that company happens to have a Welshman at the helm!!!) I think that if they're the only company who does supply these chips / set-top boxes it fit's the Notoriety benchmark. But I must be wrong? I'll search fod front page refs on this - if there are any! Thanks. Llywelyn2000 (talk) 05:45, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
I really don't think that blocking anybody is a good idea here. It's a bit difficult to see exactly what the problem is but I assume it has to do with Inview Technology, Electronic program guide and Smart TV. I gather the problem has to do with the source and the tone of the edits? You are both good editors who are working in good faith but there really needs to be more discussion and less reversion. How to get EuroFIR page back

There was some redirection and deleting issue with the pages 'European Food Information Resource Network' and 'EuroFIR' (the latter is the acronym).

We had originally a page for European Food Information Resource Network which was once a project of European Union (FP6 framework). Then this turned into an association EuroFIR AISBL. Then the old not current page was replaced with a better content. At this point the page was removed which bothers us as the new content was certainly better that the old content. Moreover, the EuroFIR page is an essential part of a nutrition science oriented complex we are trying to create and enlarge (issues like food composition and food composition databases). Now, it seems that the EuroFIR or European Food Information Resource Network page is automatically removed immediately after creation. I mean that it is pretty frustrating when the page disappears without we can even talk about the potential improving of the page. In addition, this is not any commercial spamming we are trying to do. EuroFIR is just an association with many European Universities and research institutes as its members and several SMEs from most of the countries in Europe. We work in several acknowledged European wide projects in the field of nutrition science. The organization is no different from many other asociation pages and that should not be the reason for the deletion. So, how to get EuroFIR or European Food Information Resource Network back? Separating Ismailism into Nizari and Mustalian Ismailisms

I disagree with the idea that it will create confusion and instead believe that this separation of the Ismailis between the Nizaris and the Mustalis was long overdue because these are VERY different peoples with VERY different belief systems and VERY different cultures (dress, books, prayers, hymns, beliefs, leadership, etc. etc. etc.)! This will open the door to BETTER understanding of the Shia Muslim Sects which can be totally defeating for those not versed in them. Thus, IN FACT this "disambiguation" (I assume that that is what this is called) is and will be a blessing for the non-Islamic (and even most of the Islamic too!) peoples of the world to have this separation of pages and sub-articles.

With kindest regards. PS: CBW, is there a tutorial somewhere in the Wiki for understanding the disambiguation process? I'd like to read it carefully when I have time. Meantime, thanks a million for helping me with the disambiguation for Ismailism into Nizari and Mustalian Ismailism. Hello, CBW. I think this move and disambiguation page was ill-advised and encourage you to re-think. There are several hundred Wikipedia articles that contain links to "Imamah (Ismaili doctrine)". If a reader who is not already an expert in Islamic theology clicks on such a link to learn more about this doctrine, they will come to a disambiguation page that will leave them hopelessly confused. This is not helpful to our readers. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 12:59, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

@R'n'B, I knew there would be a lot of incoming links to that article. The problem was that neither version was about c but about one of the two sects. I was hoping that an article could be created where the disambiguation now is that would just reflect the general Ismaili view and links to the other two for people who wanted more information. Of course I was hoping a kind editor, say Salim e-a ebrahim, would do that.
@Salim e-a ebrahim, check out Wikipedia:Disambiguation and let me know if you need more information.
@Any one who cares. I just spent an hour driving a road that takes 15 minutes to walk. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 14:06, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
@CBW, I want to do just that i.e. add info in the now empty page on the general Ismaili view and links to the other two sub-articles on Ismailism. I'll try to do that tomorrow or Monday - spent time today on creating better content for both sub-articles.

Russ, what would you say if I told you that the Druze - yes the Druze of Lebanon - are a branch of the Ismailis?!? They were the 2nd in line to separate from the main Ismaili stream. The 3rd in line to separate were the Mustali. So, I shall try to explain all that in the short article I am now drafting on "Imamah (Ismaili doctrine)". I think you'll get a kick out of the info I'll present.

Hey Bayweather, Did I hear you complaining about driving in the snow? 2 months ago i got caught in a Monsoon downpour and the entire downtown Karachi area got flooded in a matter of 20 minutes. I got home after 6 hours what should have taken me an hour normally. Sighing for good old Seattle. Salim e-a ebrahim (talk) 17:34, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Please review situation at this page if you are able. Redheylin (talk) 11:34, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your answer. Am not requesting immediate action but oversight in terms of general policy. Do please look in again, maybe in 24 hrs? PS - my reason to ask - those who revert are not those who discuss! Redheylin (talk) 13:13, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
Please review recent reverts, in light of Wikipedia:ARBPIA if possible, suggest course. thanks again Redheylin (talk) 05:33, 29 November 2012 (UTC) (Where's your gorilla?)
Well - thanks for your response, I guess! I do feel that I spent a long time improving the article to majority consensus, being more faithful to cited sources and removing internal contradictions, only to be reverted without my contributions having been properly examined. I feel there are etiquette, good faith and page ownership issues, and that I am dealing with one of those articles (common in religion-related subjects) where discussion merely forestalls changes. I just remembered why I gave up, feeling helpless in the face of NNPOV tag-teams, on wasted, painstaking and well-intentioned work. So - guess maybe like last time I'll , erm, be back in a year or so to get slapped again.... Take care - Still think youre a great bloke and wikipedian. C.U.
