Copyright violation at Quentin Crewe

You can't just copy text from newspapers and paste it into Wikipedia. You have to rewrite it in your own words, and you can't just change one or two words. I have stubbed Quentin Crewe to remove the copyright violations. In the future, you should use inline citations, such as <ref>...</ref>, to support text that you add, especially in a biography (biographies of living people have stricter requirements). In order to cite the same source multiple times, you can use named references, like <ref name=nyt>...</ref>. Then, when you need to use the reference again, you can cite it with <ref name=nyt/>. Remember that you must use your own words when you write an article. If you wish to use direct quotations, you can use <quote></quote> or quotation marks: Jane Journalist of The New York Times called the book "a triumphant return to form". If you choose to paraphrase someone else's words, you must give attribution: According to Jane Journalist of The New York Times, the book was a return to form for the author. I've already warned you once about this. Do not add back your original text. Not only is it plagiarism, it is a copyright violation. You have changed a few words per sentence from the original NYT and Independent articles, and that is not enough. If you continue to add copyrighted text, you can be blocked. All you need to do is follow the instructions that I've stated above. In order to avoid plagiarism issues, give attribution. In order to avoid copyright issues, use your own phrasing. Don't just substitute a few words here and there in their sentences. You should also cite your sources properly; uncited information can be challenged and removed. I'm sympathetic to your situation and desire for privacy. Claims on Wikipedia have to be sourced, and secondary sources are preferred to primary sources. So ideally claims about your intentions should be in a newspaper article rather than your personal website. For example, you added a claim about your American ancestry. The thing with intentions on print articles is a bit tricky here since I usually try to avoid to talk with newspapers about my family. Because I don't want to sell books with these headlines and private topics, but with the stories I write itself. This is why I wrote the text on my homepage to make my decision clear without selling books with it. You say the user is banned from Wikipedia but I don't see them mentioned on the official Wikipedia:LTA page yet. Instead you provide a link to someone's user page, which says a LTA report is still under construction.

Editors in the Brescia area have been making wp:disruptive edits and wp:personal attacks on Dutton as well as similar articles and have been blocked numerous times. I would suggest that you review page history. IPs do change and there are numerous IPs in the Brescia area. The fact 79.21.97.65 is not on the list would likely be the rule and not the exception. Thanks for letting me know about the Brescia editor. I agree with you reverting their edits to the article, which weren't constructive. However the edit on talk page is, I believe, constructive, and not abusing anyone. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this user is not in fact banned from Wikipedia. Apologies, I was misremembering Wikipedia:Disambiguation#References, which doesn't apply. Nonetheless I think the same logic applies, and I think it is better to avoid cluttering the page with many references of tangential relevancy. I think it would be better to have a short list of particularly notable/relevant alumni (e.g. Eric Liddell), with a reference about them being the most notable/relevant, and put the rest on either a separate article or just rely on the category. Hi. I have reverted your addition of birth dates to the Lead section of the Richard and Maurice McDonald article, because they were not accompanied by citations of reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources. I understand that you're a veteran editor, and that it's possible you added it because you saw those dates in the article's Infobox, but I thought I'd point out that information was also uncited, as another editor added it without citations two days before you did. I've noticed it's somewhat common for editors to add material to one part of an article for this reason, which is why I'd request/suggest, from one veteran editor to another, that we double-check the portion of the article that contains the initial info before adding it to another one.
