Welcome[edit]

Hello CKHideki, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Wow, just what we need around here... more cows. :) --Lord Voldemort (Dark Mark) 19:32, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Name order query[edit]

Hi Corey,
As you're the first entry in the Japanese Wikipedians category, you have the immense privilege and honor of helping me with what I'm sure is an easy query to handle. Currently the article on Muto Akira begins "Akira Muto (1883 – 23 December 1948) was a...". Which of "Muto" and "Akira" is his first name and family name?  Thanks, David Kernow 15:04, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your message, I'm pretty sure Akira is his first name, and Muto his last. In Japanese, the last name comes before the first. So in a westernized form, it's Akira Muto, but in Japanese it's Muto Akira. Cowmeister88 20:04, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks – I've moved Muto Akira to Akira Muto and will accept any and all flak should other folk convince me that this is a mistake. Best wishes, David Kernow 21:49, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note from a former CCHS Centaur[edit]

Hey Corey, I graduated from CCHS last year and found you through editing the school's page. I was just entertaining thoughts of expanding it and I also wanted to ask you how you made those graphics appear on your page (such as that stating your ancestry) since I currently have no idea how and my page is blank. Thanks. P.S. I'd prefer that you respond on my talk page so that I know I'll see it.

For more information on the boxes (userboxes), the Wikipedia:Userboxes pages should help. I myself havn't made any userboxes myself (the ones on my page are premade), but that page has a little guide on how to make them. - Cowmeister88 23:36, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I don't plan to create any user boxes, just use premade ones. If you can tell me quickly how to do that I'd appreciate it, but otherwise I'll learn myself.

I could tell you how, but this would probably be more aesthetically helpful. The templates can be found on the links in my first message, or if you scroll up on the part I just listed. - Cowmeister88 23:45, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dragonball Wiki[edit]

  • Hi there. I noticed you're fan of the Dragon Ball series, and I'm trying to recruit some fans from here to contribute to the Dragon Ball Wiki. It's in terrible shape right now with pretty much no consistency or policies, and only this week have I been able to get Angela and Sannse to create some Forums for us over there. I've got a proposed Manual of Style going over there and would like some people to contribute to that to set up some policies and start making the wiki bigger, better, and more intelligible/consistent. If you're interested, please hop on over or talk to me. Thanks for the time, whether you're interested or not. Wildyoda 08:47, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Japan taskforces[edit]

In order to encourage more participation, and to help people find a specific area in which they are more able to help out, we have organized taskforces at WikiProject Japan. Please visit the Participants page and update the list with the taskforces in which you wish to participate. Links to all the taskforces are found at the top of the list of participants.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for helping out! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 08:24, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese Music Charts[edit]

Hi, I'm just writing to you to request your help and assistance in referencing the Japanese Music Charts. Through out alot of popular english songs I have viewed I have noticed that they have been noted as performing well in Japan and have also read that the Japanese music market it very big. But in saying this every song I have seen has not got a Japanese chart position in the charts box. So if you are into music and willing to try and provide information on the Japanese Music Charts it would be greatly appreciated so then wikipedia users can start adding the Japanese chart positions into the chart boxes for popular songs. Barnstars 'R' U[edit]

The Hidden Page Barnstar
I award you one for finding Trekphiler's page for people who always think that "new message" bar is real. Aren't you glad you checked your mail? TREKphiler hit me ♠ 01:02, 18 July 2008 (UTC) (P.S. You might have a look at your signature, tho. I couldn't link back to your userpage.)[reply]

Thank you for the shiny new barnstar, and for the heads up about my signature. CKHideki 01:11, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You found it, & I figure you want people to be able to find you. BTW, what brought you to my page? TREKphiler hit me ♠ 01:13, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking at Talk:Hideo Nomo because of his recent retirement, and I was intrigued by the signature you were using at the time. CKHideki 01:20, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the day[edit]

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:23, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 23:40, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedians by Alma Mater[edit]

Might it be possible for you to instruct me in the proper methods for creation of a category for Wikipedians by Alma Mater - California State University, Fullerton? William R. Buckley (talk) 02:26, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
