Am I allowed to edit this page or is that also a conflict of interest? I want to correct some of the many errors....

Sorry I undid a change you made but I think you were mistaken.

Mikkitobi (talk) 01:33, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

@Mikkitobi: Let's talk first about the tag I added. Where in http://stevemorse.org/phoneticinfo.htm does it mention that JewishGen uses those technologies? I don't see the site mentioned anywhere there. —C.Fred (talk) 01:43, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

gotcha

so if 1 site uses a technology but the technology site does not mention that site 1 uses it then you have to put that tag on it? Seems crazy.

Does that not mean that every time you have a link to another wiki page or external site if that wiki page or external site does not mention the calling site you have use that tag?

Mikkitobi (talk) 01:48, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

@Mikkitobi: It means that if you say that "Site X says Y," then site X actually has to say Y. It can't just be a site about something involved in Y; it has to actually support your claim.
Your assertion was that JewishGen uses those technologies. The reference you added is apparently the website for one of them, but it doesn't mention JewishGen as a client. Thus, the source does not support your assertion. —C.Fred (talk) 02:03, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
I clearly don't understand this at all then. I wanted to say that the databases use Beider-Morse Phonetic Matching. If I had left it like that without a link to a site that explained what that was I thought that would be unacceptable. I therefore put a link to the site that explains what it is. If there had been a wikipedia page for the matching you would have happily let me have a link even though that page did not refer to JewishGen so why is it different for external links? Or am I allowed to have an external link without a citation? How do I do that?
Mikkitobi (talk) 02:09, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
You don't understand, then. References are for sourcing. Assume Superman is real and that I added the statement "Superman is from Krypton" to the article. The reference would be to the biographical book, newspaper story, or other reliable source that says that Superman is from Krypton. If I think readers need to know more about Krypton, then I can link the word Krypton to the article about Krypton; however, if there isn't a Wikipedia article, then I can't add an external link. —C.Fred (talk) 02:15, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Ok so bear with me here. Would I have been allowed to say that we used Beider-Morse Phonetic Matching and left it like that - with no explanation of what it was? I was merely trying to link to an external site and it seems you can only do that if you cite it and that means that site must refer to your page. You know I do have several university degrees and have written several theses and if I refer to a technique without a reference to it then I get marked down....
Mikkitobi (talk) 02:23, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
You shouldn't have been allowed to say that, but you might have gotten away with it. However, if it were challenged as unsourced, it would've been removed. Again, you can link the term with an internal link to another article on Wikipedia that explains the term, but you can't link to an outside server to define the term. As a general rule (and again, not counting links in references/citation of sources), you should not add an external link within the body of an article. WP:External links provides more information. —C.Fred (talk) 02:29, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
So is this purely to encourage you to create wikipedia pages for everything you need to explain/reference? You do agree that is not the same way references are used in academia?
Mikkitobi (talk) 02:33, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Some articles do use explanatory notes. However, it's not common from a stylistic point on Wikipedia. I will concede that a lot of academic papers use explanatory notes; however, they don't have the ability to link to other articles to provide definitions. —C.Fred (talk) 02:41, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
One other thing: when you reply to a comment, you should indent one level more than the comment you're replying to. (That's what the colons at the start of the line do.) You shouldn't outdent back to the top level. —C.Fred (talk) 02:41, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
sorry - final question for now - and I do apologise for taking up so much of your time. If I want to esplain a term or terms and there is no wikipedia page to do so and I need to use an external site I can cite it and use the fv tag you used earlier? Or does such a citation get removed eventually because of that tag?
Mikkitobi (talk) 02:38, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
No. The {{fv}} template means "failed verification": the reference cited does not actually say what the article is implying it does. The citation and the sentence(s) using it as a reference would be deleted.
Frankly, at this point in your Wikipedia experience, if you're trying to mention something that you can't readily explain, you should ask for help on the article's talk page for how to give the explanation. —C.Fred (talk) 02:44, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
OK I am learning.... slowly, and now have another final question. So in this example if there was no site explaining Beider-Morse Phonetic Matching that referred to JewishGen what do I do? I simply do not mention it and therefore the article is not complete? How else can I handle that? Other than writing a wikipedia article for it - which I am not going to do.
Mikkitobi (talk) 02:48, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
You don't mention it, because the assertion isn't verifiable. —C.Fred (talk) 02:50, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining - I will improve with time. I have to say this is extremely strict (I would say overly so) and not at all what I expected. I have used wikipedia (to search/read/find sources rather than create articles) for several years and in the main the quality of the articles and the accuracy of the information has left a lot to be desired. At all Universities here in the UK if you quote anything from wikipedia you get marked down as it is deemed highly unreliable. It is very frustrating to have so much trouble trying to contribute to articles where I know the facts when there are many wikipedia articles out there which probably should be removed!
Mikkitobi (talk) 02:57, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
It's not even that Wikipedia isn't reliable. Wikipedia is a tertiary source; citing Wikipedia is 2010's equivalent of citing Encyclopaedia Brittanica. —C.Fred (talk) 03:26, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Sorry I have to return to this topic. Why am I allowed to refer and link to something if it has its own wikipedia page, even if that wikipedia page does not refer back to my page, but I cannot do the same for an external link? You are basically saying that as long as a wikipedia page exists, no matter how inaccurate or trivial or nonsensical or irrelevant I can safely link to it from my page?
Mikkitobi (talk) 01:08, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
Yes, basically. Internal links are for navigation between articles on Wikipedia, so it's useful to link to related terms as they come up in the article. It's relatively difficult to abuse internal links, unless somebody starts linking every common term. Through in random, unrelated terms would be disruptive—those links would be removed, and the editor adding them will likely be sanctioned.
External links, on the other hand, take the reader off Wikipedia, so they're used sparingly. You have read WP:External links, which outlines the policy on what should be linked and all the things that shouldn't, right? That page notes that it's inappropriate to have external links within the body of the article. —C.Fred (talk) 01:21, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

I found a better site to link to and it does mention JewishGen.

Mikkitobi (talk) 01:56, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

And that one does support your assertion, so you're good there. —C.Fred (talk) 02:04, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

I posted some text on the Kitty Brucknell page: "In 2016, she moved from London to Los Angeles."

Hi,

I have not edited Wikipedia before and was not aware of the need for sources (I hadn't read the instructions).

I posted some text on the Kitty Brucknell page: "In 2016, she moved from London to Los Angeles."

This was removed by C.Fred because I provided no source: (cur | prev) 00:57, 19 March 2016‎ C.Fred (talk | contribs)‎ . . (18,082 bytes) (-48)‎ . . so how do I go about putting an artist on wikipedia? can you help me out

listen cfred I am trying to get him know for reference purposes seattle area has to do with credibility for him to be able to identify him as an artist. what do I do? trying to get a refrence page — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adamandrewstraton (talkcontribs) 02:02, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

@Adamandrewstraton: Start by providing reliable sources. Show where he gotten substantial coverage in independent sources like magazines and newspapers. Show that he's gotten coverage and is a significant or important artist (see WP:ARTIST and WP:BIO for guidance on the notability criteria).
Simply put, Wikipedia is not the place to get him know. Once he's already known, then he'll be notable enough for an article. —C.Fred (talk) 02:28, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Huh?

Did you just delete the article? Can I recreate something? I'm really confused by this hole situation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheVictorCrowley (talkcontribs) 19:59, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

@TheVictorCrowley: Yes. Nothing new had been added, so criterion G4 applies. If you really think he's significant, start from scratch at Draft:Craig Walendziak. —C.Fred (talk) 20:06, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

@C.Fred Okay, I'll start from scratch. I'll try not to repeat any of the verbiage. Although it seemed quite through. I feel like I stepped on a hornets nest. Thanks.TheVictorCrowley (talk) 20:15, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

@TheVictorCrowley: It's not just the verbiage. You've got to bring in new sources and a new claim of significance. And...well, yes, you did. An editor had not only attempted to create the article before, but he had used multiple accounts in an attempt to keep it up. So when showed up and recreated essentially the same article, it rang a lot of alarm bells. —C.Fred (talk) 20:18, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

@C.Fred I'm gonna try it again. Added some more recent material. Thanks for the guidance. TheVictorCrowley (talk) 03:48, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

@C.Fred Well I spent all night writing it over and that jytdog guy immediately flagged it for deletion. I'm not sure what his problem is? I read the guidelines and it's a valid article. This is all so weirdTheVictorCrowley (talk) 04:17, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

And after all that, a completely new article. 100 revisions by ANOTHER wiki editor. Jytdog still flagged the article and ran a campaign to get it deleted. I'm not sure what he has against Craig Walendziak. But the article was sourced by the LA Times, Variety, New York Times, etc. Had no self promotion in it, and no COI? Is there something I can do about this? I just want to post an article. TheVictorCrowley (talk) 13:41, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

My OnBeat! Page

Can you explain me why you deleted my Page OnBeat?, Right now!. Dharling Cruz (talk) 18:11, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) @Dharling Cruz: The reason given is explained here: WP:G3 Mlpearc (open channel) 18:18, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
@Dharling Cruz: To expand upon that: I did a search for coverage of the topic and found absolutely nothing. Based on that, I agreed with the tag on the article that it was a complete hoax, and I deleted it immediately. —C.Fred (talk) 19:14, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Can i send you links for proof? I have my own wrestling page with loads of pictures and videos for proof!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kailam Frostick (talkcontribs) 18:54, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

@Kailam Frostick: Are the links to your wrestling page? If so, then it won't help: a fan page isn't a reliable source, much less one on an unrelated topic. If you have links to newspaper or magazine articles, then yes, they may be helpful. —C.Fred (talk) 19:10, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

I have links to my wrestling page with videos and photos and i also have picture of what people have wrote when shared my videos! If this is "unreliable" even though its a video, then what do i do ? if that helps — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kailam Frostick (talkcontribs) 19:26, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

@Kailam Frostick: If you have a scan of the news articles, that's potentially usable, but sometimes it's taken with a grain of salt because of risk of manipulation. Better to provide a link directly to the article. —C.Fred (talk) 19:32, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Why cant i show you 4 or 5 videos? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kailam Frostick (talkcontribs) 19:33, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

@Kailam Frostick: What do the videos prove? How are they useful as a source? —C.Fred (talk) 19:35, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Can you explain. why it was deleted to me personally please? Can you explain the point which you thought was fake please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kailam Frostick (talkcontribs) 19:38, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

The article about OnBeat! was apparently a complete fabrication. There were no sources to verify any of the claims made about the TV show. As a result, it was deleted as a hoax, CSD G3, an absolute fabrication. See comments above and/or at User talk:Dharling Cruz. —C.Fred (talk) 19:50, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

i thought you dleted it because you dont beleive im europes youngest wrestler? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kailam Frostick (talkcontribs) 19:48, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

If you're referring to the Kailam frostick article, it's because there was no assertion of significance or importance. Not every wrestler in every promotion is notable; there are criteria for inclusion. A big one is coverage in independent, reliable sources, and the article cited none. —C.Fred (talk) 20:44, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Yeah but i am europes youngest wrestler! Not just any notable wrestler?!!? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kailam Frostick (talkcontribs) 20:55, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Requesting your opinion

Hey, C.Fred. Could I get your take on this new article on THIS_IS? It strikes me as a promotional page, but another user disagreed and removed my speedy deletion tag. The references seem to me almost exclusively commercial or promotional in nature, and I'm rather skeptical of the notability. I'd like to get a second opinion on the matter. Thank you in advance! --Erick Shepherd (talk) 17:42, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

@Archieperro: As was explained on your talk page, you'd need to show that Ovard is a significant or notable person. What has she done that makes her meet the WP:BIO criteria? What independent, reliable sources have written about her? —C.Fred (talk) 17:49, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

David Anders wiki image

Hey there! I'd like to apologize for initially using a pic from another site for Mr. Anders' info box. I was on a mobile device at a time, and hurriedly uploaded it and checked off the boxes without thinking. I've never really edited on wiki before, usually just fan wikias. I made an account just to upload an image, because he asked for his Twitter followers to do it as a favor. I was unaware of the wiki policies at the time, and have since replaced it with an image Anders offered and requested be used via Twitter.--Holyhamills (talk) 02:36, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

@Holyhamills: And you've uploaded it wrong again: you've claimed it as your own work, and it is not. —C.Fred (talk) 02:41, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
@Holyhamills: Can you be more specific with where on Twitter the image is, so we can verify the license? I don't see it in his feed. —C.Fred (talk) 02:44, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

It's the second photo down, the tweet with the 'Go Ducks' caption. He also retweeted a screencap of the page with the current image. Wiki editing clearly isn't my strong suit, I wasn't sure how to verify the license myself... whether or not sure if a simple link is enough. I uploaded it as my own, but I won't argue the fact it doesn't belong to me. I recognize how it was improper, and again, I apologize. I didn't intend to make your editing duties more difficult, I realize you take the time out of your own day to maintain pages. I only really made this account to change the image for Mr. Anders, and I don't really have plans to edit much of anything in the future. Suffice to say I'm sorry for any stress I've caused, but it shan't happen again in the future.

That said I'm not sure if it has a owner. Anders posted the picture, but I'm not sure who was the one who took the shot itself. You can find the tweet in which he posted it here, and the screencap of the page that he retweeted is the most recent thing on his feed.

Both apologies and thanks, --Holyhamills (talk) 05:24, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Some users again trying to defame Sujit Meher article

Dear Admin,

Its really sad to see people keep trying to defame public figure articles again and again. Some users are keep trying to defame Sujit Meher article and requesting for deletion as a self promoted article. Please kindly go though the link, he has been listed among those top 10 alumni of NIFT itself, and even it published in NIFT official website too. How can it be a self promoted article, where its alma mater itself is saying he is in the list of those few respectable alumni of NIFT. So no need of any deletion request or debate on this particular article. [1] Please i request you kindly protect such article, where people keep trying to defame such public figure articles. Even you can see all national media links and sources are prominently given. Please i request you to take care of the issue and protect this article. Thanks you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Novelbuzz (talkcontribs) 03:54, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

@Novelbuzz: Once an article starts the Articles for Deletion process, the discussion usually runs its course. One of the perks of the deletion discussion is more editors see the article—and hopefully for the article, more editors contribute. I don't see any evidence that the nomination was in bad faith, so I won't abort the discussion. I also don't see any evidence of vandalism to the article, so I don't see any need to protect it. —C.Fred (talk) 04:00, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

C.Fred, I saw you were on call. Please have a look at the AfD and the article and let's figure out if this needs to be burned ASAP. If you say yes, no need to confer any further--just pull the trigger. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 04:14, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

@Drmies: I think you're right that the BLP implications in the article justify deletion, and I have deleted it. For the record, I think that the acts he's accused of are absolutely reprehensible. hello! Can you tell me how to be administrator in wikipediaMe sex worker (talk) 12:20, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

@Me sex worker: It's a long road. You'll have to get a lot of experience on Wikipedia and become very familiar with policies. Besides, there are plenty of ways to help on Wikipedia even if you don't have administrative tools. So I recommend you focus on being a good editor. —C.Fred (talk) 13:20, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

@Me sex worker: Given that you haven't edited any such article, I'm not sure how to help you. What article are you referring to? —C.Fred (talk) 14:54, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

As the other editor who restored that talk page thread, I agree with your collapsing it. I don't know why they thought it was such a big deal, but your solution is good. My best guess is that the first user really was an official account (it certainly seemed aboveboard) but that they overstepped their bounds. Meters (talk) 17:36, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

Rocky Allen (technician)

The article for "Rocky Allen (technician)", which involved the potential infection of over 1000 people, was deleted at WP:AFD before being reviewed for an entire week to determine if it should be moved to a new title, or redirected. Robert Lewis Dear was redirected in a similar manner. Can you please explain your rationale? --Jax 0677 (talk) 21:25, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

@Jax 0677: Yes: WP:Biographies of living people. In particular, WP:BLP1E says that people who are notable for only one event should not have an article, and WP:BLPCRIME guides strongly against creating an article about somebody who has only been charged with a crime. Allen is notable only for the charges he faces regarding drug tampering. There is no article about the tampering incident; indeed, the only mention of it was one sentence at one of the hospitals he worked at. Accordingly, it did not seem appropriate to redirect his article to one hospital he formerly worked at. —C.Fred (talk) 23:05, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

Very kind of you, but it doesn't matter now. I have been WP:PAID and snapshots were made of the article before the "speedy delete" secretion that ruined it. That's all that matters, businesses generally know that their references will not stay up for a very long time. Pity the young editor had to find it so quickly. Roer the comooter (talk) 19:01, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

PS As you also see, it's had a fair few views from the public. Good stuff! Here's the the future! Roer the comooter (talk) 19:02, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Tom Girardi Page

Hi Fred,

Following up on your messages, Mr. Girardi's page was not fully accurate so I simply put some direct quotes from his bio on the page, as he requested me to do. There is no copyright issue since he and I wrote the bio. I hope this helps! Please let me know how I can update his page, as this is not a conflict of interest since it is in his interest to have accurate information online. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lindsayburton (talkcontribs) 20:51, 1 April 2016‎ (UTC)

@Lindsayburton: It appears you may misunderstand how these policies apply on Wikipedia. There is a copyright issue because the bio was written for his firm's website, and the firm asserts copyright over it. If the firm wants to donate the text for any derivative use, including commercial reuse, then we can consider using it—although it still may need to be edited for style.
Second, because you work for Girardi, it is absolutely a conflict of interest for you to edit his page. Wikipedia should be written from neutral point of view and by independent editors. It's not impossible for involved editors to write a neutral article, but it's difficult—that's why editors with a conflict of interest are discouraged, but not forbidden, to edit articles on topics they have the conflict with (e.g., themselves, their employers, their family members, their projects). —C.Fred (talk) 21:02, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi Fred, the firm would be happy to donate the copyright to Tom's bio. Please let me know how to proceed. Additionally, 2 of the links on Tom's bio are broken: the one linking to his bio which is actually (http://www.girardikeese.com/Attorneys/Thomas-V-Girardi.shtml) and the link regarding his donation to Loyola which is actually found at (http://www.latlc.org/Honorary-Board/Tom-Girardi.shtml). If I am not allowed to make these edits, is this something you could do? Specifically we're most interested that his bio link be fixed because presently the link it has is not even a real link. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lindsayburton (talkcontribs) 21:22, 1 April 2016‎ (UTC)

@Lindsayburton: WP:Donating copyrighted materials has information on that. Remember that other editors can (and will) edit the text, possibly severely, to get it in line with Wikipedia style guidelines and the NPOV policy. I'll take a look at the links; I thought you changed the main external link; I know I reformatted it. Any further changes, you can request via Talk:Thomas Girardi. —C.Fred (talk) 21:54, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Edit to Don College Page

Thanks for your assistance C.Fred with the Don College page. I can see your point that the link was redundant. On the other hand I noticed that the external links were themselves inaccurate. Don College is no longer associated with the Polytechnic (which is now called TasTAFE in any case) and the link to the school web site has changed. So I have deleted the Polytechnic link and put in the correct link to the college web site. I am on the staff at Don College and i am trying to get this page up to date. --Squeaky1957 (talk) 01:44, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi, C.Fred! I saw that you removed the CSD tag that I put back on the article. I must have misread the CSD tag or something and didn't realize that it was a G7. I'll just call it a brain fart ;-). Anyways, I appreciate it. Cheers! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:40, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Simulation S-T Cut

Fred - The article I posted this afternoon was deleted. The reason given for the deletion was copyright infringement. This is not the case, the content in the article is not copyrighted. This source code that was included in the article has never appeared elsewhere. Please undelete this article. Thanks, Peter Yim — Preceding unsigned comment added by VirtualScalpel (talkcontribs) 22:59, 2 April 2016‎ (UTC)

@VirtualScalpel: So, the source code can be freely republished, including commercial republication? —C.Fred (talk) 23:02, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Yes - the source code can be freely republished - including commercial republication. There is a patent on the software but that does not limit the publication of the source code. Peter — Preceding unsigned comment added by VirtualScalpel (talkcontribs)

@VirtualScalpel: Then it can be used in a Wikimedia project, although WikiSource is the better place for it than here. —C.Fred (talk) 23:19, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your attention - and also the suggestion - I will consider that although I am considering adding more descriptive type content. Please do undelete. Peter — Preceding unsigned comment added by VirtualScalpel (talkcontribs) 23:23, 2 April 2016‎ (UTC)

I may have misread your earlier post. Are you saying that this article cannot be published through Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.215.209.210 (talk) 23:37, 2 April 2016‎ (UTC)
Shouldn't be published through Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not the place to post original content, such as source code. —C.Fred (talk) 23:42, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

The article will be comparable to others I see on Wikipedia - such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conjugate_gradient_method that have sections of code. Isn't this equivalent?

You closed this AfD discussion as speedy delete, although you never deleted the article. Can you please delete Tekmill? Thank you! Music1201 (talk) 00:06, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

@Music1201: I did delete it; it was recreated. —C.Fred (talk) 00:18, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
Perhaps it should be salted. Music1201 (talk) 00:19, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
@Music1201: G7 is one of the easiest to overturn criteria for speedy deletion. That said, I'm letting the AfD run because, at the end, we'll likely end up with community consensus not to have an article. Then any further creations can be speedied G4. —C.Fred (talk) 00:30, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi Fred, I want to change the username but I'm not able to find the link to do so. Is there any link available or should I create a new account? — Preceding unsigned comment added by IMIBhunaneswar (talkcontribs) 00:40, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

@IMIBhunaneswar: You're a new enough account that you can just go ahead and create a new one; instructions for changing usernames are at WP:CHU, if you should want to. —C.Fred (talk) 00:42, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

The reversion you did was right on the grounds it was unreferenced but there is this[2] and here[3] and other articles around that question Player's integrity. In fact Gary Player is the unnamed player in the book Teed Off written by Dave Hill where Hill wrote that one of the Tour's biggest stars was also a cheat who moved the ball more yards illegally than Jim Brown rushed for the Cleveland Browns.

The Player-Watson feud could be written into the article but it would have to be carefully written and referenced. As for the 1974 British Open, the allegations came along after much time passed and while they might be credible, for BLP reasons it may be hard to put them in the article....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 01:06, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Slither.io

Hi C.Fred, I was wondering if you could protect the Slither.io redirect I made from being turned into a full article for now. It has been covered by a reliable source, MCV, here and there may be more articles about it, but I think it is WP:TOOSOON for a full article on the subject and thus I feel it should be kept a redirect. Capcapandgengen (talk) 21:04, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

@Capcapandgengen: Where do you see any reason for a redirect? Just because two products are similar doesn't mean the non-notable one should redirect to the notable one. They are published by two different companies; the only connection between the two is the reviewer's comparison. —C.Fred (talk) 22:30, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
And I have !voted delete at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2016 April 15#Slither.io. —C.Fred (talk) 23:37, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
I see your point, so for the moment I've changed the redirect's target to Miniclip (where the game is hosted). Capcapandgengen (talk) 04:09, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi C fred please can you change proclaimed north cyprus to 20 July 1974 because Fazil Kucuk was the first former president of the invaded cyprus and we celebrate it on 20 july with turkish fighter planes doing shows i downt know how to do it thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1hello12321 (talkcontribs) 16:31, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

@1hello12321: No, I can't, because there are no reliable sources that support the claim. Kucuk is listed a Vice President of the Republic of Cyprus; nowhere in his article does it mention that he was President of Northern Cyprus. Further, the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs states, in a source cited in the article, that independence was proclaimed on 15 November 1983. Turkey may have invaded on 20 July 1974—and that's probably a good day for Turkey to do flyovers and other military activities—but that doesn't mean that the declaration of independence gets backdated to that date. —C.Fred (talk) 16:39, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

why

why did you deleate my wiki it was about a website — Preceding unsigned comment added by Isaiah James Patton (talkcontribs) 21:38, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

@Isaiah James Patton: Because there was nothing in the article to indicate that the website is significant or important. For a website to have an article, it must meet the notability criteria at WP:WEB. —C.Fred (talk) 21:40, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
@C.Fred: but there was a parragraph about its significant
@Isaiah James Patton: No, there wasn't. There were a few sentences about features. There was nothing about reviews, coverage in the press, awards, or anything else that would meet the notability criteria. —C.Fred (talk) 21:44, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
@C.Fred: can I get a copy of it back so I can wook on it
@Isaiah James Patton: Yes, I'll restore the text into your sandbox. Be advised that you're working a very slippery slope, writing about your own website: if the article turns into a promotion for your website, it could be deleted as blatant advertising. —C.Fred (talk) 21:53, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

why?

why has my page 'MeDugOut' been deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joel Evetts (talkcontribs) 23:15, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

@Joel Evetts: First, because it's a duplicate of Medugout; there's no need for two of the same article. The underlying reason for deletion, and why Medugout is tagged, is for failing to assert that the subject is a significant person. Just having a Youtube channel or other website doesn't make somebody notable; not even having 1,000 followers is significant. —C.Fred (talk) 23:18, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

what classes as being significant then? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joel Evetts (talkcontribs) 23:19, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

@C.Fred how do I submit my major page edit for review? Without it just being undone?PCnurse (talk) 04:30, 17 April 2016 (UTC)PCnurse

@PCnurse: Part of the problem was that the revisions were so major. You're better off to work in smaller chunks so it's easier to see what's being changed. And there's no way to guarantee it won't be undone. As I said, the best thing is to go to the article's talk page and explain the changes ("I want to add X based on source Y"; "I want to change K to L because of what's in source M"). Best case, other editors say it's a great change and you should go ahead and make it. Next best, they have some minor improvements to suggest, and you go ahead and make the change. Worst case from your perspective, they have objections ("That contradicts what source Z elsewhere in the article says"; "That doesn't follow the Manual of Style"), and you have to keep discussing or back down from that change. —C.Fred (talk) 12:46, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Andrew Peach

Most of the links in the Andrew Peach article are dead and some refs are not cited. How can these be flagged for deletion? There is a comment on his talk page which suggests the article is purely for self promotion. There seems to be "too much" information for suck a minor person. BBC Radio 2 made lots of cut backs a few years ago and I have not heard Peach reading the news om the station for a while. He was in the same pool of freelancers as Ricky Salmon, Fran Godfrey and Fenella Fudge. He has also not presented on BBC 5 Live since his stint covering Stephen Nolan. RadioAnorakUK (talk) 11:49, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

@RadioAnorakUK: Dead references don't get deleted, but you can tag them with {{dead link}} so others know they need repaired. Or, you can fix them yourself by finding na archived version of the page. Any material that isn't supported by a reference can be flagged with the {{citation needed}} template. —C.Fred (talk) 16:59, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Articles

Hello, I've noticed that you reverted my edits in the Flag of Syria and Coat of Arms. I'll start with the coat of arms first. I know that we need to change the picture not remove it, but I can't upload pictures. Every time I try to upload it doesn't let me. And I do have the picture.

Second, the Flag of Syria article. What is in their is truly false and biased. The two stars flag DOES NOT represent the loyalist of the regime or Assad. And we don't want to use the opposition flag as a new flag to Syria. It's used as a symbol for the revolution, just like as a symbol to a party. I work in the Syrian Interim Government, what am I giving to you is official. If you ask the Syrians today, the majority of them want the two-stars flag and sees it as a representation for the people of Syria, even the FSA and those who support it. So please, let us be accurate. After all it's our country and our revolution, gentlemen!JaberEl-Hour (talk) 23:43, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

@JaberEl-Hour: Please remember that the encyclopedia needs to be written from neutral point of view. If you work for the government, as you assert, then you have a conflict of interest and should probably not be editing any articles related to the Syrian government, broadly construed. That said, if your information is official, just provide a link to a published source, and independent editors can change the article based on that. —C.Fred (talk) 00:02, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
Sir, How is that a biased attitude if I work for the opposition, I am not defending the revolution flag, I am defending the Syrian flag. I do understand the policies her, but I kinda see that some users here are the ones who are radical and biased, and they keep edit warring. I don't mean to attack anybody, I'm just keeping you aware that some users here are being biased.JaberEl-Hour (talk) 01:54, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
@JaberEl-Hour: Precisely because you work for the opposition! Your professional connection to the subject is viewed as inhibiting your neutrality toward the subject—or at least as giving the appearance that your edits will not be neutral. —C.Fred (talk) 01:56, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
My edits are being natural and accurate when I put the Syrian flag as the flag, and I delete the part where it says that only loyalist people rise this flag. Let me notify you that there is an official opposition group who only rise this flag that you relate to as "Assad's Flag". You can find it in the link below. Also, let me remind you that the flag is also raised by people who are neutral and don't side with anyone. So let's be accurate, and we can include a part where it says that the opposition held areas rise this flag to distinguish themselves from the government.

https://7al.me/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/%D9%A6%D9%A61.jpg

It's called the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change. Thank you.JaberEl-Hour (talk) 02:03, 22 April 2016 (UTC)

Also, let me remind you something, Syria is our homeland. We rise the flag that we want. It's not America's 51st State. Thank you.JaberEl-Hour (talk) 02:16, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
Comments like that are precisely what causes other editors to conclude your edits are not neutral. —C.Fred (talk) 02:17, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
I am a busy man. I came here to fix the huge mistakes that are caused by Wikipedia about Syria. As Syrians, the Interim Government encouraged us to edit the articles in Wikipedia and fix those kind of mistakes. Syrians should be the ones who participate more to Syrian-related topics I believe. Because we know more about our country. I don't think you're going to teach me what is my flag and what's not my flag. I know more than you do. You are saying I am not neutral, because I am the one who work with the OPPOSITION is defending the "ASSAD'S REGIME" FLAG. Think about it that is non sense to call me unnatural.JaberEl-Hour (talk) 02:23, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
No. You said you are not neutral, but you admitted you work with the opposition. —C.Fred (talk) 02:25, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
I work with the OPPOSITION AND NOT THE REGIME. I suggest you go and look which flag I am defending.JaberEl-Hour (talk) 02:27, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
It doesn't matter. You are connected with one of the two parties. It doesn't matter which one; you're connected and have a conflict of interest. —C.Fred (talk) 02:28, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
I am so sorry for you. I am so sorry because your ignorant about what is going on in Syria. I am so sorry you are ignorant about the flag dispute. It does matter, I am supposed to defend the green three-red-stars flag. I recommend you check what is going on again before you judge. Again, let me remind you. You are American, I am Syrian and I am a well-known politician. I know more about my country than you. Please, be respectful so you can get respect.JaberEl-Hour (talk) 02:32, 22 April 2016 (UTC)

Bob Yaciuk page deleted

Hi there,

I'm not sure why you deleted this page. It is being created for Bob Yaciuk who is the leader of the Trillium Party of Ontario. He has been in politics for several years and has run in the Canadian Federal Election. I feel his entry is valid on wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Howcantherebenonames (talkcontribs) 02:07, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

@Howcantherebenonames: Standing for election does not make a person notable. He's leader of a minor, non-notable party, so that doesn't make him notable. He hasn't done anything outside of politics that makes him notable. So, the article grossly fails WP:BIO. —C.Fred (talk) 02:10, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

@C.Fred: I had only barely started writing the article when you deleted it. I had one sentence written! Is it notable that Bob has been an active community supporter belonging to many community service clubs and community service groups. All of his efforts culminated with a recognition Golden Jubilee Medal from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II? HRH obviously felt that he was notable enough to cross the pond to shake his hand and present him with a medal.Howcantherebenonames (talk) 02:24, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

@Howcantherebenonames: The article had sat without change a good 10–15 minutes before I deleted it. Also, that's why we recommend drafting your article offline before creating it on Wikipedia: you can make sure that you have a clear assertion of significance and some reliable sources before you create it. As for the Golden Jubilee Medal, according to the GG's website, over 22,000 of those were handed out.[4]C.Fred (talk) 02:32, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Trying to do the right thing

Hi, C.Fred.

I beg to differ but accusing somebody of a crime, twice, is not germane to an AfD discussion and is counter to the AfD Edit Notice:

"... commenting on other users rather than the article is also considered disruptive"

Accusing an editor of a crime, twice, is commenting on the other user.

For you to revert my edits, is disruptive too, as you know I do not agree with your revert. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 02:59, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

@Checkingfax: You sure? Otherwise, by definition, your revert is disruptive. Also, your edits are not reverting obvious vandalism, so you do not have a 3RR exemption. —C.Fred (talk) 03:01, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, C.Fred. I am removing personal attacks, which are exempt from 3RR. I also went to Softlavender's talk page immediately to discuss things. She kept reverting me, and throwing WP:TPO at me, with no further discussion. Then she hit me with a Twinkle warning. Yes, I am sure I am trying to do the right thing. It is not right to accuse another editor of committing a crime, twice, in an AfD and throw in a Hitler comment to boot. You do not have a problem with that? AfD is hardly a talk page. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 03:07, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
I do have a problem with the Hitler comment; that's why I redacted it. I do not feel that calling the nomination criminal or the removal of content from the article criminal to be a personal attack, although I do feel a better figure of speech could have been used. Regardless, that's commenting on the nomination and the article, not an ad hominem attack on the nominator. Finally, personal attacks are not mentioned at WP:3RRNO. —C.Fred (talk) 03:10, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, C.Fred. It really comes down to common sense. If cleaning up Featured Articles on the Main Page is 3RR exempt, then certainly removing personal attacks is. My first effort was an edit. Then I have two reverts. Softlavender has three reverts, but she was edit warring regardless because she was and is ignoring my efforts to discuss this civilly on her talk page as we are supposed to do. Finally, all of my edits included removing the Hitler comment. Neither I, nor Softlavender has crossed the 3RR bright line rule, but Softlavender has engaged in edit warring due to her failure to discuss. I also have the AfD Edit Notice on my side as far as 3RR protection goes. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 03:40, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
@Checkingfax: I've closed the ANEW case that was filed against you. I think, at the end of the day, everybody acted in good faith; it just wasn't always articulated clearly what was going on. I'm still not convinced that calling the nomination of the article for deletion a crime is a personal attack; however, looking at the totality of the situation, I think we move forward better with that out of the comment than in. If this were to happen again, after the second revert, it might be a good time to go to WP:ANI and get assistance from the matter. (Or, if you do IRC, reach out to an admin on there.) —C.Fred (talk) 03:47, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, C.Fred. Calling it a crime twice in two different veins was a personal attack. Read it closely. Then to play the Hitler card was over the top. If the editor was upset, the editor would have complained. Softlavender should not have played Devil's Advocate here. She does that a lot. I would advise her to stop doing that because she spends way too much time filing actions against people. Softlavender even stuck up for you, whereas you are perfectly capable of sticking up for yourself; again fanning flames by playing Devil's Advocate. If Softlavender had not reverted my valiant efforts we would not even be talking about this. I articulated myself just fine; in my edit summaries, and on Softlavender's talk page. I was surprised she still thinks WP:TPO applies to an AfD discussion, when it clearly does not. TPO is a subset of TPG and TPG is a shortcut to WP:Talk Page Guidelines. AfD is not a talk page. As for 3RRNO, if personal attacks do not qualify by the letter, then they should be added by the letter, or they should be extended the same courtesy that Featured Article on the Main Page tweaks are. I appreciate your graciousness in this matter and for putting closure on it. If Softlavender was not acting like a quasi-admin things would never have escalated because the OP never would have complained. Softlavender did post on the AfD talk page, but only after the spectacle was over. At that point there was nothing for me to respond to. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 04:16, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Muhammad in Islam

Sir, in regards to your deletion of content,[5] have you had a chance to review the Historicity of Muhammad, which notes that there is little to no evidence that Muhammad ever existed, and almost no evidence he existed in the story promoted by adherents of Islam? Of course, this is not surprising considering all religions are composed of myths and fanciful stories, but it is an important point to make. As for the deaths due to his followers, is this in question? 166.171.123.74 (talk) 04:22, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

Disruption on generation Z and other generational cohort articles

Hi C.Fred, thank you for this post: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Wwwma&diff=716481099&oldid=714276483. I wanted to ask your advice on how to best handle the disruption by this user on several of the generational cohort articles. He's using multiple accounts to edit these articles. It's clear from this edit that he's using both the User:Wwwma account and multiple 2606:6000:610A:9000 IP accounts simultaneously: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Generation_X&diff=714590502&oldid=714590273. After a string of disruptive edits from his various 2606:6000:610A:9000 IP accounts, the Gen Z page was restricted to only auto-confirmed users, but he immediately gets around the page restriction that he himself prompted by switching to his other account User:Wwwma. Things typically start out as relatively minor content disputes, but in my experience, it's really difficult to resolve these content disputes. Things like the using of multiple accounts simultaneously, and a history of edit summaries that do not match the edit, talk page comments that don't match what happened, and bullying comments make things really hard. He seems to be pushing editors away from all of the generational cohort articles, and I'm getting to the point where I'm not sure how much longer I can edit there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. --DynaGirl (talk) 00:11, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi! I'm curious why my submission for the page Cloud of Ash got deleted. Not rejected, deleted entirely. I'm looking into it to see if the page was an innocent victim, as it were, of an abusive edit. The delete was G5, blocked/banned user creating pages in violation of ban. —C.Fred (talk) 00:27, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Need your help. You seem to have been on to something.

Hi. I noticed some edits had been made to a page pertaining to a group of mine. These edits were made by someone looking to post sensitive and fraudulent information as an attack. Fortunately, you blocked the page because it seemed to represent the group rather than any individual. That's fine, rules are rules. However, as I am looking into finding out who or what entity created this username to make it seem like the group was adding info to the group's page, I have found the page to be deleted. Is there any way to find out the IP address or any identifying information of this user? I would really like to get to the bottom of this and find out who has been "attacking" my group's page. Any help or direction would be appreciated.Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.53.99.106 (talk) 14:04, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Administrators do not have access to IP addresses belonging to users. I doubt a checkuser could assist here either; you might try sending an email to the Volunteer Response Team. —C.Fred (talk) 18:59, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Need Help big tiime

Hi C.Fred, I was fixing links in Cassandra Smolcic, and it must have been deleted while I was editing because all the other edits are no longer listed on history page except two of mine, so I think I re-created without noticing what I did. Can you take a look and see if you can get rid of this. By my edit history, it should be obvious that I don't go around and do things like this. It was 100% an accident on my part. Sorry. Cmr08 (talk) 18:46, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

I also just checked my creation history, and it's listed there. Cmr08 (talk) 18:48, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Done @Cmr08: Looks like you tried to change the links at the same time Bbb23 deleted the article; instead of an edit conflict, it just recreated the article. I've deleted it, nothing it's routine housekeeping and that it was an edit conflict. Does that work? —C.Fred (talk) 18:50, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Yes, thanks C.Fred, I've never seen that happen before and had no idea what to do. Cmr08 (talk) 18:54, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
@Cmr08: {{Db-author}} would also work, since at that point you're the only contributor to that version. Add in the edit summary something like "Oops! Page got deleted while I was fixing formatting." {{Db-housekeeping}} could work as well with a similar edit summary. —C.Fred (talk) 18:55, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

You have removed my edits from the safe schools wiki becuase of neutral wording and sources. What do you mean? The source is the ABC web site and is perfectly referenced. An the neutral wording? Please explain the problem there. I'd like to reach a compromise. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by FindOutTheTruth (talkcontribs) 02:18, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Brahminsm VS Vedic religion

Historic vedic religion is different from Brahminism. Historic vedic religion is the fore runner of modern Hinduism. But Brahminism is a practise within the Hindu religion. So both are different topic and the redirect needs to be removed. A seperate article on Brahminism should be created. We cant restrict the entire Hindu religion only to Brahmin caste. Hinduism existed before the Aryan invasion itself. But after Aryan Invasion the Character of Hinduism changed a lot due to the inter mixing of Aryans and Dravidians. So Brahminism or Aryanism is a different concept from Vedic religion/Hinduism. Brahminism is just a practise inside Hinduism. So redirect needs to be removed Brahminism is a set of rituals or practises within Hinduism. Hinduism is not only belongs to Brahmins. So seperate article needs to be created for Brahminism. Brahminism means influence of Brahmins in Hindu religion (Brahminsm and Historical vedic religion, both are entirely different). So please allow me to create new page for Brahminsm. If you need any more clarifications or still you want to include redirect please share your ideas in Brahminsm talk page.--DanielZinker (talk) 16:06, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

@DanielZinker: If you think a split is warranted, I suggest creating a draft version of the article at Draft:Brahminism and seeing if there's support for the split. —C.Fred (talk) 16:08, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Ok.Thanks for your help. I will create the article with all the references and citations. Then you can review the article. We can discuss with other people also. But please give me some time to finish the article :-) May be later we can discuss about the merge.--DanielZinker (talk) 16:38, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

@DanielZinker: There's been a suggestion to move your article to a sandbox page. I think that's a good idea, especially since there's a growing sense that your article is a POV fork and would need major work to be usable. Any objection if I move the page to Draft:Brahminism? —C.Fred (talk) 18:31, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

"Cardio First Angel"

Hi, thank you for your reply: "Neither draft has enough references to show notability." Since my first draft about a year ago, I have tried to find a reference which would "show notability". The product was invented by cardiologist Prof. Dr. Christian Hagl, who is the head of heart surgery and polyclinic of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Medical Centre and the Inotech Group which manufacturers this product. My draft was rejected, because apparently sounded as an advertisement and references I quoted (Prof. Dr. Christian Hagl and the Inotech Group)had a commercial interest in the product. After this rejection I have searched for other sources and articles about "Cardio First Angel". All the existing sources, references and articles I found, are references to the the same references: (Prof. Dr. Christian Hagl and the Inotech Group) - therefore by Wikipedia not acceptable. When I finally found sources, which were without any commercial interest - Independent Journalist from http://news.softpedia.com/ and Government Clinical Trials https://clinicaltrials.gov/ they "not enough references to show notability."

What is the solution? Which references would show "notability" without mention the inventor or manufacturer? How it is possible to find out if an Independent Journalist has enough credibility to be "notable"? If the Government Clinical Trial (independent)which publishes independent resulte and function of the "Cardio First Angel" is not not acceptable, what is?

Regards

Animall — Preceding unsigned comment added by Animall (talkcontribs) 01:50, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

@Animall: The Clinical Trials website is not a secondary source because it's just a repository for trial results, which would be written by the entity doing the trials—likely, in this case, either the inventory or the manufacturing group. Independent journalists are tricky because of the lack of built-in editorial review: we don't know who has reviewed the journalist's work, and it's not clear that Softpedia has rigorous editorial review processes. That's why we prefer things that have been published in academic journals with a review process, or in major newspapers and magazines. —C.Fred (talk) 02:08, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

St Anselm Hall

Hi,

Thanks for welcoming me! I agree that there is a potential for a conflict of interest as I am the Head of History within the hall, however this is an unpaid position and I believe the information added does not benefit the society moreso than it should. The information is all impartial and factual. I have not said the events are good or bad, I have merely stated their existence and popularity, both of which are facts which would be of interest to the people who look up the hall.

This page has been catered to the kinds of people who would look this page up, which includes prospective residents, current residents and Alumni, and I am hoping to make some more changes to the page to include information on our Alumni Association, but I will bare in mind that I can always ask for help and put drafts up for review before permanently posting the changes.

I am hoping to also include information on the JCR(Junior Common Room) which is something I have created a discussion with another editor about. Basically, I am hoping to mention the roles that exist in the JCR, and would like it if I could mention the name of the three senior members. This is a university hall full of adults who have elected fellow members of the hall to represent them at a university level. These elections mean that these students have already had their anonymity reduced and are mentioned both online and inside an annual newsletter to over a 1000 people. As a consequence, it is not a breach of their privacy to mention this online. MichaelPetch (talk) 11:30, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

@MichaelPetch: Bear in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. The article should favor the general reader, not necessarily one with an interest in the school. Frankly, information for prospective residents, current residents, and alumni is best presented at the hall's website.
As for mentioning the elected roles in the JCR, probably not. The issue is not breach of privacy; the issue is whether the content is encyclopedic. As a general rule, student positions aren't listed in any similar articles. There are a few student unions who list their officers, but those are university-wide positions—and even then, it's the exception not the rule. Where it would make sense to mention those officers is once they're alumni, if they later go on to become notable. For example, "John Doe, who later went on to be MP for Metropolis North, was hall president while at university." —C.Fred (talk) 13:46, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
@C.Fred: Apologies, what I meant was that all the information was catered towards people who would be looking at the page, and tried to illustrate that with a few examples, but I perhaps illustrated my point wrong.

Again I also mentioned the privacy as that was a point mentioned on the guideline page for school pages, which this page is registered under. I fail to see how this information is not encyclopedic. Given that it is synonymous with a comprehensive level of information, and find it especially ironic that another hall at the university of Manchester can have their positions listed and ours not. MichaelPetch (talk) 16:12, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Could I have your opinion here? There are COI / impersonation issues and licensing issues with a file on this article. — Confession0791 talk 20:48, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

@Confession0791: I don't see a currently active COI issue (last edit by apparent subject on 3 May), and the licensing situation is under review at Commons. I don't see why they're saying it's non-free; if I had good evidence, I'd remove it from the article here right now. Either way, this article is now on my watchlist. —C.Fred (talk) 21:01, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
I was the one who tagged the file. There's no evidence that it's in the public domain. — Confession0791 talk 21:08, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
@Confession0791: But is there evidence that it's not? If we could see where it's published somewhere else under a non-free license, then it's an obvious, easy-to-address situation. —C.Fred (talk) 21:11, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Cardio First Angel (CFA)

Hi C.Fred, thank you for your explanation of the references for Wikipedia "...that have been published in academic journals with a review process, or in major newspapers and magazines." Previously I have enclosed references from 2 articles from writers who write to the Sunday Times newspaper and to the Spiegel Online.(the German one included an English translation as well). Both, the Sunday Times and the Spiegel are major publications, but these references were rejected as well. I am including these references for your perusal here below. Seems to me line no win situation

@Animall: Powell's piece did not run in the Sunday Times. It ran in the Red Ferret, which sits on the bubble of reliability. It's run by a professional writer, but there's no editorial review of his work (he's also the managing editor). Hello

I have added the information of the acoustic version being released along with the Live EP. I think that it makes the page more notable since there's no information for that extended play on Wikipedia. Please please please keep that page :'( U990467 (talk) 17:20, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

Remove name from Wikipedia article and talk page

Please redact the name Aukerma from the talk page and wiki article on the tomorrow world subject. He is not connected whatsoever. He is employed by his cousin actor Robert Doney jr — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.223.225.156 (talk) 17:44, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

That's what the discussion determined: he needed to be removed from the article because he had never been hired by the producers of the show. The discussion should be kept as a record supporting that edit. —C.Fred (talk) 17:45, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

Page deletion----12:24 pm EST May 15th, 2016

Good morning, I recently received a page deletion from you. I was trying to do a grad school assignment where the professor said to make a wiki page and I thought he meant make a real wiki page. He in fact meant for me to make a fake one on a separate software (like a research paper basically). Can you resend me the info I made on the page that was deleted so I don't have to do all that work again?

Any help is appreciated! Kaitlyn Fugel (username Fugelka) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fugelka (talkcontribs) 16:25, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

Edit warring - Margarita Levieva and Sebastian Stan

Hello, since you were the last edit. There is a possibility of misinformation about their relationship due to rumors spread by those who are strictly fans of Sebastian Stan. There is currently no source on their relationship status in terms of separation. Much of this can be traced back to social media such as tumblr and twitter. Bunai (talk) 04:02, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

Tone: Promotional

I disagree that the edited background, history, building info, were promotional. Please highlight which edits are promotional — Preceding unsigned comment added by SportsNSchool (talkcontribs) 02:14, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @SportsNSchool: For starters, the "background" section goes on about their "services" (which makes it an advertisement, and don't even try to argue "but I didn't list prices"). Second sentence in, "students have a unique opportunity to take advantage of" is obviously promotional, and you cannot both claim it was not while retaining either your honesty or competence. That there was the footnote in there "** should we also mention undergrad?" makes it really hard to believe you were not hired by the school to advertise it. Ian.thomson (talk) 02:20, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @SportsNSchool: Let's see. Here are some of the fluff phrases:
  • "students have a unique opportunity"
  • "The iconic Edmond and Louis Odette building"
  • "will build on the successes of the Centre for Enterprise and Law"
  • "WIN brokers partnerships between key stakeholders to source, embed and scale innovations in health systems."
  • "a landmark new Odette Building"
It read like a promotional piece. It didn't help that this sentence was in the background section: "With the economic growth rise of Windsor and Detroit, there are plenty of new business opportunities for emerging (for graduates?)MBA graduates.** should we also mention undergrad?" In other words, it read not only like a promotional brochure was copied and pasted in, but a rough draft of the brochure was copied in. —C.Fred (talk) 02:21, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

I will review the content and only submit updates that avoid this concern. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SportsNSchool (talkcontribs) 02:38, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

@SportsNSchool: When you submit them, make sure you're requesting the edit on the talk page, since it does appear, based on the history of the article and the nature of your edits, that you have a conflict of interest. —C.Fred (talk) 02:41, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

@SportsNSchool: If you propose those on the article's talk page, make sure you link the names. If they aren't notable enough to have an article, they shouldn't be listed as notable alumni. —C.Fred (talk) 02:47, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

I would like to make the alumni additions with links, and at least enough no promotion detail that will link viewers to external web pages that provide more information. This wiki update has been a learning experience. I am unsure how to precede with this update, post here or on the Talk Page for you? SportsNSchool (talk) 13:44, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

@SportsNSchool: Again, you need to request the change on the article's talk page: Talk:Odette School of Business. Go ahead and enclose the names in double square brackets when you put the request there. For example, enter [[Richard Peddie]] for Richard Peddie. You'll also need to provide a source for Peddie, since there's nothing in his article that mentions he attended OSB. (For that matter, there's no source in his article to support his bachelor's or honorary doctorate from U Windsor.) —C.Fred (talk) 00:26, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Image Needs to be added in our Singer Celebrity Profile

Hi,

@SyedAffan1: First, thank you for declaring your conflict of interest with Shah. That does mean you should refrain from editing the Taher Shah article. You can request edits on the talk page—preferably the article's talk page, Talk:Taher Shah, rather than users' individual pages.
Second, thank you for donating the image of Shah. This may now be freely used, including commercial reuse by anybody, anywhere, for any purpose.
Regarding Baloch's article, I see several reliable sources like newspaper articles about her, so that article seems fine. Although, what is the connection between Shah and Beloch, that they are cross-referenced on each other's pages in the See also section?
As for the infobox material, much of what you listed above, there's no place for in the infobox. There are no fields for future plans or debut single. Date of birth is a field, but it should really be a full date, including year, and there should be a published source to verify it. The awards aren't very clear: who issued those awards? Where can we verify that he received them? —C.Fred (talk) 02:30, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Sebastian Stan/Margarita Levieva reality check

You realize, presumably, that I'm not "vandalizing" this poor fellow's page, or that of his maybe-or-maybe-not significant other. For the record: I am a random middle-aged boring professional person who only cares about: (a) BLP articles saying what the cited sources say and (b) nuking copyvios. I've been on WP for about a year and a half but this is the first time I've stumbled into this level of obsessive fandom (which, I assure you, was purely by virtue of having reverted something on NPP about Levieva, so that she ended up on my watchlist, and heaven help me if I ever fall into this kind of pit again) and the incessant synthesis of cruddy gossip magazines coupled with stubborn copyvio additions and a mostly-hilarious-but-occasionally-menacing "Deep Throat" attitude. I'm just objectively Doing My Thing here. I am pretty confident you grok this, but I wanted to communicate "personally" (or in a reasonable facsimile of such) with you to let you know I have absolutely no dog in this fight; I'm literally just trying to be the (at least figurative) grownup. (Okay, truth: not a dog, but a CAT. I do have a deranged little rescue cat named Lily after a character on "Gossip Girl," a gloriously silly TV show I had forgotten Stan was a bit player on. OKAY, FANGIRLS, BRING IT ON ME NOW. I HAVE A CAT NAMED AFTER SERENA'S MOM. Yeah, that's my veiled covert interest! Augh, please.). Thank you for everything you do here, C. Fred! Best regards - Julietdeltalima (talk) 00:54, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Someone edited the Sebastian Stan page again. You need to watch it

C.Fred I have no clue who keeps vandalizing that page. But this should clear things up

Saw the post about whoever edited the Sebastian Stan page. Decided to research to get accurate up to date information on the status. This article published by The Daily Beast on May 14, 2016' provides information which clearly states Stan & Levieva are no longer together' As outlined below in this exert from the article "In real life, the man who plays Bucky/Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan, is decidedly hetero, having previously dated co-stars Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl), Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon a Time), and Margarita Levieva (Spread). Here is the link to the full article [1] Another thing is IMDB and other sources are slow at updating their sites so they also have outdated information Hope this clears up the confusion Truth Supervisor (talk) 23:39, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

@Truth Supervisor: Yes, and? If you thought the article on Stan needed changed, you should have posted an edit request at Talk:Sebastian Stan. That said, be careful throwing around terms like vandalism if it's a good-faith edit. —C.Fred (talk) 02:50, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Why All the Hostility?

C.Fred - I had posted something on that Talk page on May 20th but no one replied to it so I deleted it and put here on your page so you could edit it however it appears you are not going to edit the page with the updated info I provided you with anyway. I didn't edit the page myself because I didn't want to be attacked but just the same here I am being jumped on by some person for just submitting info As far as vandalism goes the page kept changing practically everyday after semi protection had expired good grief. Perhaps I used the wrong word to describe it but that's no reason for her to go off on someone for making an honest mistake

I'm new here but I see folks here are way too serious about trivial things. I only tried to help update Wikipedia correctly I'm not familiar with how to do things on here so I did my best and for people to jump down my throat this way is not o.k. I have done nothing wrong here. People make mistakes may be if it were easier to navigate this site as far as submitting things problems like this wouldn't happen A friend of mine warned me about how Wikipedia does things I see now I should have listened. Oh and for the record I'm not a Teen fan girl. I have no clue who this person is but I've never said anything to her and she doesn't know me so for her to "assume" I am a teenager because I submit an edit for Actor's page is just down right rude. I'm not on social media so this whole situation is ridiculous and uncalled for.

I should not be attacked because I submitted a legitimate article which warrants changes be made to an article. I see now that anything goes here which is why all of my former College professors explicitly said they would not accept Wikipedia article as references because they do not have accurate facts. I see why now. I've been treated unfairly here I hope you understand my position. I would like to hear from you on this. Truth Supervisor (talk) 13:42, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Done Wasting My Time Here

Things are not done right. The only response you get is in defense of someone who is wrong for their rude behaviour. Certain users are favoured and allowed to attack newcomers. Information not updated accurately. Complete waste of time and total rubbish. I will make sure to tell everyone what happened here and warn them to stay far away from Wikipedia Truth Supervisor (talk) 16:24, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

OK. Have fun. Cheers. --Ebyabe talk - State of the Union ‖ 18:29, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

Sorry I'm a noob at this ~cbass

Sorry thank you for the info I will test things on sandbox I'm still getting used to Wikipedia just to let you know. Cbassinator711 (talk) 01:25, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

I honestly don't think the article is salvageable, all the author is doing is copy-pasting more content from another site. Additionally, I'm wondering if we should be treating them as a sock of User:Prozorro who created a very similar copyvio article before being blocked for username policy violations. RA0808 talkcontribs 19:30, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

@RA0808: If the user was blocked for a username policy violation, then they aren't really a sock—they're encouraged in the soft-block message to create a new account. However, if they're copy and pasting text, that is a bigger concern. I'm not finding large blocks that are copied word-for-word; I need pointers to subpages, I think, to see that. —C.Fred (talk) 19:33, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
I might have spoken too soon. Looks like the author's trying to do things in their own words now, which is at least an improvement. At this revision it was almost entirely copied text. I'm going to drop the speedy down to just G11 for the moment. RA0808 talkcontribs 19:52, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

Page Deletion.

Hi. I tried to create a page about myself, an accomplished musician, yet it keeps getting deleted. why. Other musicians like me, can have their own pages, but some how I can't. It is very unfair on your part. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SeanCarley12 (talkcontribs) 01:46, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

@SeanCarley12: I did not see anything in the article that asserted that you meet WP:MUSIC. Any biography that does not assert the significance or importance of the subject may be deleted. Further, other musicians, as a general rule, may not create pages about themselves. Notable musicians have pages written about them by independent editors. You're getting treated the same way any other musician is treated. —C.Fred (talk) 01:49, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Hey! Thank you for welcoming me, I appreciate it. I'm starting to get hang of things, so here's my first question :)

There's an abusive user that keeps changing the registrar details to some false website. Article link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.host I and a few other people have reverted his changes, but it has occurred twice already, so it'd be awesome if you could take a look. Within the editing history of that article are reversals by another administrator and advanced editor.

Reply to your comments

Sir,

Let me address the messages you sent me, I will be responding to them under them :

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Benjamin Britten, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 03:26, 4 June 2016 (UTC) - The concept of 'original research' as you describe it is quite surprising : original research is in fact based on facts! As a medical researcher myself, I think I know what medical research is about. Also, the source of the information is the Heart & Stroke (Canada). I think that in terms of reliable source, this organization knows what it is talking about...

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Benjamin Britten. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You cannot add a hypothesis that you have come up with that is based on current literature. Now, if a researcher has proposed the theory and published it in a peer-reviewed journal, you can cite the journal and note that it's that scholar's theory. But until that's published, you can't just add your own theories or unpublished theories to the encyclopedia article. —C.Fred (talk) 03:44, 4 June 2016 (UTC) - As I mentioned about, the H&S Foundation (Canada) is a reliable source. I am sorry to say, but do you have the qualifications as a CPA to question their authority on cardiovascular disease ?

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Benjamin Britten shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. - I am not engaged in an edit war. As I am new to wikipedia, I honestly thought that the text was automatically deleted because I had some trouble inserting the quote.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. —C.Fred (talk) 03:49, 4 June 2016 (UTC) - As I mention above, I tried three times to insert the text, being not so familiar with the process made me retry. I tried to insert in in another section

Please stop continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Benjamin Britten, without resolving the problem that the template refers to. This may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. There are two tags in the article, both designed to get other editors to assist. The {{fv}} tag alerts editors that the source you cited does not support the claim being made. The {{or}} tag alerts editors that the claim may be original research. —C.Fred (talk) 04:51, 4 June 2016 (UTC) - If I made a mistake by editing material in an unproper way, I would have appreciated a more polite warning. It was obvious to you that I did my best, but your reply was quite abrupt, to say the least. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarieBBNF (talkcontribs) 03:30, 5 June 2016‎ (UTC)

@MarieBBNF: Those are standardized templates. Abrupt, maybe, but consistent and worded based on community consensus. —C.Fred (talk) 03:44, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

@C.Fred Standardized templates? My goodness... As a former pr specialist, I would have been fired by the second largest hospital in Canada I worked for, had I used such lousy and generalised templates to talk to one person, in such insulting terms, and not apologizing to her after that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarieBBNF (talkcontribs) 04:09, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

Valley Center Days

Hello. My page, Valley Center Days, has been marked for speedy deletion, but it is completely cited and referenced as a official page. You are defending the page "Valley Center Western Days" but that is a falsified source and I have written the reasons WHY in my article, which was written to promote a non-profit event and explain why the name was changed. The other page only cites self written sources, but I have proven that mine is correct and his is meant for self-promotion.Please correct this error, as the page "Valley Center Western Days" is spreading false information. Vchero (talk) 18:16, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

@Vchero: Neither event is notable. The difference is that VCWD is an established article and is going through deletion discussion. As a new creation and clearly not notable, VCD is subject to speedy deletion. —C.Fred (talk) 18:20, 4 June 2016 (UTC)4
Roadrunner Publications was also contested for speedy deletion, and the result was to delete the page. Instead, the user deleted the notice and kept it up. Is there a way for VCWD and Roadrunner Publications to be deleted? If so, my article does not need to be up. The only reason it is posted is because VCWD is providing incorrect information to mislead our community into using his name, which he is attempting to trademark. The attempt is being contested legally by event organizers.[1] Valley Center Western Days is not connected to any event or organization and therefore should not be an article, while Valley Center Days is connected to multiple verifiable websites and organizations. Vchero (talk) 18:30, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
Sounds like you have an agenda against the event and cannot edit from neutral point of view. —C.Fred (talk) 18:33, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
Western Days is not an event, nor is Roadrunner Publications. Vchero (talk) 18:52, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

@C.Fred That is correct regarding an agenda. As the creator of the page, please reference the Valley Center History Museum to verify name and historical significance. VCHistory.org/Valley-Center-Western-Days — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vcwd (talkcontribs) 18:57, 4 June 2016 (UTC) @C.Fred Also note there is no mention of Roadrunner Publications within the article — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vcwd (talkcontribs) 19:01, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

There is a mention of Roadrunner Publications regarding their attempted ownership of the trademark, "Valley Center Western Days" and their sabotage of Valley Center Days. Citing them would be providing falsified information, especially considering they chose to ignore the name change. The Valley Center History Museum's website is owned and operated by the owner of Roadrunner Publications, which make it a biased and non-factual source. Vchero (talk) 19:35, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
  • Agree deleteAs the original article creator, I've changed my mind. Go ahead and delete the page. I have no objections. The people of our community has been dealing with this unstable individual for a few years now. As admins/editors can clearly see by her desperate attempts to convince. Other admins also pointed out nobody cares who owns what, and this isn't the colosseum. Our event doesn't need a Wiki page to be successful and community-driven. This individual, as others here have pointed out had an obvious agenda and to satisfy her clearly clinically obsessive behaviors, lets just delete the page. This is what adults do. Thanks admins. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vcwd (talkcontribs) 16:35, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

Swing of Sultans

Hi. The user seems to be on sandbox mode, he has also half-recreated Meryem Ayşe Sultan. The "new" article is a copy-paste of Turhan Hatice Sultan. --Phso2 (talk) 20:37, 9 June 2016 (UTC) PS It is definitely a hoax; will you delete it or should I restart an AfD?

@Phso2: Based on what do you conclude it's a hoax? —C.Fred (talk) 20:45, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Because no historical source deals with this character; the article incorporates some parts of Ayşe Hatun (wife of Murad IV) that are sourced (cf [8]: the source clearly says "little is known" about her). The sentence "Some say that Turhan Sultan killed all of Meryem's people after Meryem's death, and in that way including historians. So it was probably Turhan who removed the valide sultan title forever." is revealing: it is a theory to explain why this person presented as powerful and historically important is unknown to historians. But people unknown to historians are not supposed to have an article.--Phso2 (talk) 21:00, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

You mentioned about neutral point of view, tell me what is neutral about distorting the truth or only show half of it? Most of the sources used in the original Wiki are known to be biased, D.G. Marr for example, through his books, is clearly taking side. I am not sure he if whether his point of view is affected by who he is/was or what biased sources that he used for his book, but clearly his view is not neutral. -Lenntran 6/9/2016 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lennytran (talkcontribs) 02:38, 10 June 2016 (UTC)

@Lennytran: How are you so sure he's not neutral if you don't know what sources he used? I stand by my assertion: your edits indicate that you have an agenda, and you should refrain from editing the article directly. —C.Fred (talk) 02:44, 10 June 2016 (UTC)

@C.Fred: There are books, like I've said what is neutral about blemishing a dead person using distorted material? you are saying I have an agenda? what might it be? for stating the truth or stating the missing parts of the truth? -Lennytran — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lennytran (talkcontribs) 02:52, 10 June 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for listening, the magazine might be a reliable source but unfortunately it's publishing an article from a user that claims this record isn't happening and has video evidence that has now been removed, it's damaging, libellous and unnecessary. UncleSamUSofA (talk) 22:32, 11 June 2016 (UTC)

@UncleSamUSofA: Unless the magazines have retracted the claims, it's not damaging to report, but it should be reported in proper perspective. —C.Fred (talk) 22:37, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
I have not vandalised anything, the line I put in, was the first sentence in the article, the one you are allowing to be put in, is taken out of context, it doesn't say that he's a cheat, it says "Unless he is a cheat", you seem to have missed that part — Preceding unsigned comment added by UncleSamUSofA (talkcontribs) 23:27, 11 June 2016‎ (UTC)

Need help moving draft page to main article space ~ J-Pimp (Hip-hop artist)

Hi! C.Fred, It's DJ King Kong from Florida., can you please help me get this draft page moved to main article space? It's about a well-known recording artist from South Florida music scene, His #1 Bass rap chart single title Grind Hard, is getting played in a few States now. Artist's name: J-Pimp (Hip-hop artist) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:J-Pimp_(Hip-hop_artist)

THANKS! DJKingKong (talk) 17:06, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

@DJKingKong: Thanks for working so hard on this article! I'm not C.Fred, but I watch their talk page and thought I might be able to help before C.Fred is. Anyway, I would recommend you take the article to articles for creation so that editors can review it and give you feedback. While the prose is good and you have a good grasp of citations, I have some concerns about whether the artist will pass the general notability guideline which is how we determine whether an article is included or not. Particularly, it seems like a lot of the coverage on the artist is routine coverage and not something that shows notability. I would recommend looking for more sources on the artist to improve the claim of notability. Also, because J-Pimp is still alive, the article must comply with the policy on biographies of living people. Hopefully this helps and I look forward to more content from you! "Edit War" for Dead Space - 2008

I'm extremely frustrated. ALL I'm trying to do is add the voice credit for my client, JG Hertzler. He voiced one of the primary characters in the game. I've followed all the guidelines....added citations. I saw the edit "disappeared" and thought I'd forgotten to save my edit, so I added it again. I didn't realize the deletion was some sort of malicious action by another user. I'm not a "computer person", I'm not a blogger, nor am I savvy in this editing processes. I'm an attorney/agent/publicist. I'm also the close personal friend of Mr. Hertzler, and adding the credits as a personal favor. There is no CoI. How can this be resolved? It's ridiculous. Perhaps the same user maliciously deleting my edits on Dead Space is also the same person trolling my edits to The Golden Compass video game? I'm only trying to add my client's credits, with the proper citation. I wasn't expecting the malicious trolling.

I am not getting paid for adding the credits/citations. I should have put quotation marks around "close personal friend". So, I have NO idea how to request the following:

1) JG Hertzler provided the voice for Captain Benjamin Mathius in the game "Dead Space" he is also the visual representation of the game avatar. He was "green screened" with sensors for the character. Capt. Mathius is, quite literally, JG Hertzler.

2) JG Hertzler provided the voices for a bear, a scholar, and the dockworker foreman in the game "The Golden Compass"

here is the citation link I used as "verification": http://voicechasers.com/database/showactor.php?actorid=9878

Will you please help me with this? Thank you. --JGHSMC (talk) 15:00, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

hello there

thanks for your note about COI - as you can tell not very experienced with the Wiki process.

We were just shocked to see Kai's page deleted when she is artist with significant profile who has not just featured on a number of hit songs, but she CO-WROTE them too. She's performed in front of thousands of people at festivals and shows throughout the world and her current hit with Flume "Never Be Like You" which has it's own wiki page - is equally written by her and Flume. Because of the number of high profile songs she's written and been involved in ("Mind" with Jack U for instance - the video she is in for the song she co-wrote and sings has 62 million views...) there would be significant numbers of people wanting to know who this person is with 3 songs with over 20 million views on youtube, all over US radio in Blillboard magazine, has worked with some of the biggest artists/producers in the world and is currently working with some of the biggest producers in the world making her debut solo album for Warner Brothers USA.

Any guidance you can give us as to the correct way for this to be rectified would be most welcomed. We want to be good citizens of the wiki community of course, but equally have a duty to do our best for our client who we feel has been unfairly judged here - looking at the 'discussion' people dismissed her as just having 'featured on other people's singles'. If she was just a performing vessel for songs I would totally understand, but she's written and sung songs that have huge profile in every area of media, so it's a puzzling situation for us. Especially when at this moment in time her profile is dramatically rising. She's never been more wiki-worthy.

As I say though, any guidance as to what the right way to do this is much welcomed!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Magusmusic (talkcontribs) 18:26, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

@Magusmusic: Looking further into things, here's what happened. The article was nominated for deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kai (Canadian singer), and community consensus was that she is not (yet) notable enough for an article. Wikipedia has a guideline, WP:NMUSIC, to describe when an artist is notable enough to have an article; consensus is that Kai does not yet clear that hurdle. Obviously, future events could change it, but as of ten days ago, she didn't meet the criteria.
Looking further at the deleted article, I think the big fault in the article right now is the lack of independent, reliable sources providing in-depth coverage of her. Scanning the references, I see a CBC profile, and that was disqualified in the AfD discussion. If there are some articles that cover her, then it would boost the article toward meeting WP:GNG. Further, I think that the general notability guideline is the big hurdle now, as a case could be made that she meets the WP:COMPOSER section of WP:NMUSIC because she co-wrote "Never Be Like You".
@MelanieN: As the deleting administrator, do you have any objections with the article being recreated and moved to Draft: space for incubation? I think what we had is a better starting point than starting from scratch. —C.Fred (talk) 18:41, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Thank you @C.Fred. Really appreciate you taking the time to help us understand. There has been a recent interview in Billboard magazine and obviously will be more to come so hopefully that hurdle will be clear pretty soon and thankyou for requesting a draft page too. Again, really appreciate you taking the time to explain the process!! Best wishes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Magusmusic (talkcontribs) 19:34, 21 June 2016‎ (UTC)

Hi, C.Fred, thanks for the ping, and thanks for explaining so clearly to Magusmusic what Wikipedia's requirements are to have an article here. I would be happy to give User:Magusmusic a chance to restore the article, and I will userfy it to them, with a couple of caveats which I would rather put on their talk page. --MelanieN (talk) 20:37, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

501c6 organizations/ONVIF revert

Sorry, but you're not understanding the basis of it, and it's not my terminology, it's the IRS'. I know you've got the background for it, too, so I really don't understand the revert.

A 501(c)6 is a non-profit organization that could consist of corporations, but it is not itself a corporation. Corporations are for-profit entities. Corporations can be members of 501(c)6 entities, but it is not a corporation because it does not file a corporate tax return. See here, and notice that at no time does the IRS refer to a 501(c)6 "corporation". If you can show me an example of a 501(c)6 corporation, because I searched for that on google and got this, where every hit refers to it as a 501c6 organization. Here's another link that also uses the same terminology, because the terminology is important. MSJapan (talk) 22:23, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

@MSJapan: But see #17 in the questionnaire in [9]. It is not a disqualifying feature for the organization to have incorporated. The IRS uses "organization" to broadly include any structure of association, including an incorporated one. Further, the IRS guidelines for the Life Cycle of a Business League (Trade Association) starts with the section on Creating the Organization, which point-blank says "A nonprofit organization may be created as a corporation, a trust, or an unincorporated association. Any of these entities may qualify for exemption. Note, however, that a partnership generally may not qualify."
In short, there is no technical reason that a corporation cannot qualify under 501(c)6. That said, the more I think about the text in the ONVIF article, it is probably redundant to say "incorporated as a…corporation" in the same sentence. So for that reason, it may flow better to use "organization" in the second spot of that sentence. —C.Fred (talk) 23:43, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

Also, 99% of the time, when an IP editor removes a sockpuppeteering notice from an account, it is the abusive editor returning to continue his abusive edits. The exceptions are rare, but it looks like this situation is an exception.
If you have not used the account Niranjandeshmukh (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), then I assume that account should stay blocked for impersonation of you? —C.Fred (talk) 13:42, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

The only reason there exist edits on that page under my username (User:Niranjandeshmukh) & the allegations of socking thereof are because my account got hacked. I have not edited that page ever. So I request you to remove the edits in my name (User:Niranjandeshmukh) on that page & let me edit wikipedia in a secure way by unblocking that account & letting me change the password or giving some other form of secure access login like google does. I promise to be very careful with my password & never let this happen again. If you cannot do that, atleast don't malign me by putting my name on the User:Soundofthesea page. Not

I am not under a 1RR restriction. Regardless, my actions were based solely on BLP guidelines and stated as much in every edit summary I completed while the edit warring over unsourced or unreliably sourced content was occurring. I commented on the article talk page, asked for page protection in the way of Pending Changes status almost immediately, and then asked for FPP when it was obvious PC was not going to help. Should I read your query on Helper's talk page to mean that you are trying to find a reason to block me for edit warring or was it about something else? -- WV 01:08, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

@Winkelvi: There's one of three things going on: (1) You're under a valid 1RR and violated it; (2) you're not under a valid 1RR, and Helper honestly misinterpreted the situation; or (3) you're not under a valid 1RR, and Helper intentionally misinterpreted the situation. (1) could lead to a block, (2) is no-harm no-foul, and (3) could result in a block but more likely a sound trouting. :) —C.Fred (talk) 01:16, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

@LaurentianShield: I did put it in its proper place, at the bottom of the page. —C.Fred (talk) 02:45, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
Ok thanks! Sorry. LaurentianShield (talk) 02:47, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
Further explanation: I am new to this egregious vandal thing. Usually I just "undo" when it is once or twice, but this person is obviously playing games. I did a request for protection, and it was denied -- for the right reasons. However, I do want to go through the recommended steps. I don't have that much vested in this particular article, but the anonymous user is clearly testing the limits and I do care the Wikipedia does not look "rinky dink". LaurentianShield (talk) 02:56, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
@LaurentianShield: I've added the page to my watchlist, so if it happens again, I'll see it and can (1) clean it up and (2) warn or otherwise sanction the vandal. —C.Fred (talk) 03:25, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

James R Moriarty

Please return the new information added to the wiki page James R Moriarty. There is no COI... nothing was deleted... only added with references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wayne Dolcefino (talkcontribs) 07:03, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

@Wayne Dolcefino: Let's talk about the conflict of interest first, and let's focus on the image. You added an image (File:James R Moriarty.png) to the article James R. Moriarty. You claimed it as your own work, but the image is located on Moriarty's firm's website. Are you admitting that you scraped the image from the website and that it it is not your own work? —C.Fred (talk) 14:25, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Arturo Pacheco

To make a long story Short, I saw that Arturo Pacheco didn't have an article. I made an article using another Wikipedia and a smart friend who was with me at the time to help me. My friend said I didn't have to list him in the Credits. I don't understand how I provided false information. Dermond975 (talk) 01:06, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

@Dermond975: I don't understand how you provided true information. You need to cite reliable sources, especially in biography articles, and especially with claims like somebody wanting to make the Philippines part of the US. The claims in your article were so extreme as to make me conclude that the article was fake. —C.Fred (talk) 01:32, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

I said I used one the the Wikipedia articles about the 51st state. (Dermond975 (talk) 02:41, 6 July 2016 (UTC)).

Also, why didn't you tell me to cite my sources? You just deleted just because the (actually true) facts that I provided were concluded "fake" with no reason at all. (Dermond975 (talk) 21:57, 6 July 2016 (UTC))

I did. See above. —C.Fred (talk) 23:35, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

Need Help Creating a Page and stop from deletion and banned.

Hello C.Fred!

As you may know, I am trying to create a page about a musician (who is not me, as I can provide proof) and it keeps getting deleted even though I’ve revised it multiple times and added sources and now it’s locked (by you I think lol). Could you help me meet the requirements to make it on wiki such as revision and anything else it may need? I am not trying to promote or advertise this musician (who is not me), just an autobiography as I really do think this person matters. I have the article saved.

-Thanks

(Mrsunshine93 (talk) 20:51, 6 July 2016 (UTC))

@Mrsunshine93: First, you need to provide reliable sources, which really should be totally independent of the subject. Of the three sources you added, two are just interviews, so they're tricky to use to show notability. The third source, I can't get to the masthead of to evaluate whether it's reliable.
Really, you need to make sure the subject meets WP:MUSIC and make sure it's clear from the article how they do. Charted single? State it front and center. National tour? State it and cite it, preferably to a major source like Billboard. —C.Fred (talk) 23:41, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

I am new to wikipedia my apoliges for any mistakes but I did not delete anyone by my own comments — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellenmahmood (talkcontribs) 00:33, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Re: Chase Chrisley

Hi C.Fred. Would you mind taking a look at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#How do I know if my submission has been apporved? when you have some time? I think there was an improper copy-and-paste move made by a new editor which might require a history merge or something. The editor has only been active since yesterday, so I'm assuming they just didn't know any better. Anyway, I'm posting here since (1) your an admin and (2) you've edited Chase Chrisley. FWIW, I don't think that the subject meets GNG, but that's a separate matter for another discussion. Thanks in advance. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:53, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: I also don't think the subject meets GNG; that's why I just redirected the article back to the reality show he's appeared on. —C.Fred (talk) 00:54, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
That's fine and I saw that. Does there still need to be a history merge? I'm not too familiar with the process so not sure if one is needed. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:56, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I moved it back to Draft: and merged the history. —C.Fred (talk) 01:00, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Thank you C.Fred. Could any editor have done something like that or did it need to be done by an admin? -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:02, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Because it involved deleting and undeleting, that had to be done by an admin. —C.Fred (talk) 01:29, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

User:Niezwmxa Boro

Hi, leaving you this message as you are the last admin to have dealings with the above user. Having had reason to visit the user's user page User:Niezwmxa Boro, it is clear that (probably innocently) they have a ton of userboxes and categories suggesting wiki-rights that they clearly don't have. I'm not sure of the rights and wrongs of editing another user's pages, so am asking you what the approach should be? Cheers, 15:43, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Edit to add: I think User:Br. Nijwmsa is probably the same user - again probably innocently adding potential sockpuppetry into the equation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gricehead (talkcontribs) 15:45, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Iehovah NOT FOUND IN THE KJV [10] in Exodus 6:3. CITE AND REFERENCE YOUR SOURCE — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellenmahmood (talkcontribs) 00:39, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

@Ellenmahmood: My source is the King James Version of the Bible.[11] Same place it's been the last two times I mentioned it. —C.Fred (talk) 01:00, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

I see here http://www.kjvtoday.com/home/jehovah-or-yahweh-in-exodus-63-et-al how Jahovah was added to the Hebrew texts which is why Jehovah is in the King James Bible thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellenmahmood (talkcontribs) 21:12, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

I want fully protected

I want make my userpage as fully protected..so please make it fully protected!Nijwmsa Boro (talk) 03:06, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

@Br. Nijwmsa: First, there's been no vandalism to your user page, so there's no reason to fully protect it. Second, if it were fully protected, you would not be able to edit. Are you sure that's what you want? —C.Fred (talk) 03:08, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

can you make it semi protected ?Nijwmsa Boro (talk) 03:13, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

@Br. Nijwmsa: That may still leave you unable to edit the page. And again, why does it need to be protected? There's not been any vandalism. —C.Fred (talk) 03:14, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
nevertheless make it semi protected.Nijwmsa Boro (talk) 03:26, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
@Br. Nijwmsa: Again, what's the need for protection? —C.Fred (talk) 03:28, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

protection from other users from edit.Nijwmsa Boro (talk) 03:33, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

@Br. Nijwmsa: Again, semi-protection would leave your user page open to editing by a lot of other people, but not you. I don't think that's what you want.
Now, if there were a situation where your user page were being vandalized by new accounts, then I'd consider semi-protecting it. —C.Fred (talk) 03:36, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

OKNijwmsa Boro (talk) 03:40, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

U.N.Academy, Barpeta Road

I want to make my page/Article U.N.Academy, Barpeta Road as semi or fully protected...please do it..now its no need to edit..so please...!Nijwmsa Boro (talk) 03:55, 9 July 2016 (UTC) -

@Br. Nijwmsa: First, it is not your page—see WP:OWN. You aren't even the original editor who created the page; another account created it. Second, the article needs improved, so the more editors who can contribute, the better the page will be. Finally, there hasn't been significant disruption on the article that would require protection. —C.Fred (talk) 03:58, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Niezwmxa Boro is too my account. so please do it ..please please please!!!!Nijwmsa Boro (talk) 04:02, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
