Speedy deletion nomination of Inca clathrata[edit]

A tag has been placed on Inca clathrata requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/entomologypapers/71/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Inca clathrata, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. Just to make it clear, the research papers republished at Digital Commons are 'free access', but they are not freely-licensed. As copyrighted material, you cannot directly copy material from those articles. While the 'facts' of a species description are not copyrightable material, the exact language used is, and you appear to have largely retyped it directly. While a species is definitely 'encyclopedic content', and we probably should have an article, I would suggest that you create it as a draft via the new article wizard at WP:WIZARD, with the description rewritten in your own words. This would also allow other issues, such as that you cannot cite other wikipedia articles, to be addressed before the article is published.

In the future, you should be aware that our speedy deletion policy (See WP:CSD) specifically prohibits editors from removing speedy deletion tags from articles that they themselves created.

Please don't take this as an indication that your contributions are not welcome. This is emphatically not the case, it's just that you have fallen into a couple of 'new user' traps. It's not uncommon, and nobody will hold it against you. It's jsut better that new editors use the 'draft article' process until they are familiar with Wikipedia polices, to avoid such drama.
