Username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Business.nwktc) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Northwest Kansas Technical College. Thank you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:01, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Several problems[edit]

You have noted in Northwest Kansas Technical College that "The Marketing Class is currently editing this page." There are several problems with this statement:

  1. Discussion about an article should never occur within the article itself.
  2. The page is still basically just blank. If the page is to be developed incrementally, it is best to do this in your user space (say, at User:Business.nwktc/Northwest Kansas Technical College). As a user space page, it will be taken away from the scrutiny of editors like myself who insist that articles should adhere to the various Wikipedia content guidelines. Once you are ready to publish it, it can be moved back to the main space.
  3. Your class may edit the page collaboratively, but you each must have your own username. Usernames cannot represent an entire class.

Good luck with your course work. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:42, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox[edit]

Please move Northwest Kansas Technical College to your WP:Sandbox. As it stands, it is un-encyclopedic and will be speedily deleted. Please don't use namespace to actively develop your articles, as this is why userspace exists. CittaDolente (talk) 18:52, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion at Administrators' Noticeboard: Incidents[edit]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

  • OK, that page, it is deleted again since it's nothing but a test (which is why it was deleted before). You are welcome, indeed encouraged, to produce an article on the college, but it will have to start not with an outline but with some basic statements about the place, and a reference or two. Moreover, you cannot do so with the current username, which falls foul of our guidelines. I am going to block this account; please register again with a username that represents you as an individual, not the organization you might be working for. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 19:37, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • You can have a look at Madison Area Technical College for a fairly decent example of a similar topic. Drmies (talk) 19:41, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

March 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of what username you choose. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
