Thank you for uploading free images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view your previous uploads). An invitation to join the Highways WikiProject[edit]

- - - - - - - - - - - - WikiProject Highways - - - - - - - - - - - -
Hi, Bumm13, you are graciously extended an invitation to join the International Highways WikiProject and its regional taskforces! The project is an evolving and expanding group of editors who are dedicated to creating, revising, and expanding articles, lists, categories, anything related to highways in the world. This includes supporting existing regional road project and fostering the development of new international highway wikiprojects. We have recently created five regional task forces focused on Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and Latin America. In addition, there are specific subprojects devoted to Canada, India, the UK, and the US. As you have shown an interest in Mexican Federal Highway 107 we thought you might like to take an interest in this growing WikiProject.

To improve road and highway articles, here are guidelines for B-Class criteria. Please add any GA-, A- or FA-class articles to the international roads portal. Also, please help out by inviting new or unfamiliar editors with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Highways/New articles/Invite template.

We look forward to welcoming you to the project! Imzadi 1979  11:14, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MSU Interview[edit]

Dear Bumm13,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 21:13, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Gardena in LA County map.png listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Gardena in LA County map.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:39, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Santa Fe Springs in LA County map.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Nihongo template usage[edit]

Hi there. I've been inactive on the wiki for a while, so I may be going on outdated information here, but isn't having the Japanese title in the lead only for games that were developed in Japan? I was once told it didn't belong in Metroid Prime for that reason. I ask because you added Template:Nihongo to Lemmings (video game), The Lion King (video game), and others a few days ago. Cheers, sesuprime 03:40, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey again. I found the relevant guideline in the second sentence of WP:VG/JP; it states that a game's Japanese title should only be included if that's the title it was originally released with, i.e., released in Japan first. In practice, the Japanese title seems to also be included if the game was developed in Japan, even if it was originally published in English (e.g., Metroid II and Metroid Fusion). Richard Manitoba / Caribou[edit]

Hi. I'm recruiting for extra comments on a content dispute at Richard Manitoba. Apparently there was some flare up over use of the name Manitoba some years back, and the aggrieved party has been repeatedly and persistently inserting snarky copy into the Handsome Dick article. Since he has also done press interviews, he has refs. As an experienced editor, if you could assist on achieving consensus, much appreciated. Wwwhatsup (talk) 13:35, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, human here. I'm in the process of listing all your LA County maps for deletion. No offense -- they were better than nothing, and valuable back in 2006 when you uploaded them. The Fabulous Wailers is what the band are often known as. Their own website uses that term: thefabulouswailers.com. And our naming policy indicates we should select natural over disambiguation brackets where possible: WP:NATURAL. The article is clearer, more helpful, less confusing, and follows policy better as The Fabulous Wailers. SilkTork ✔Tea time 01:30, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I realize that the name of this particular band is a bit difficult given the inconsistency surrounding which name they've used in the past. I know that the band is often known as "The Fabulous Wailers"; they are also often known as simply "The Wailers". The use of "(rock band)" is necessary if the shorter name is to be used to avoid confusion with Bob Marley's old reggae band. So I'm not trying to simply impose my own standards to article names. :)

I don't really agree though that "the article is clearer, more helpful, less confusing, and follows policy better" with the longer name; we don't make article naming decisions simply to shoehorn them into some random Wikipedia policy; we choose the most appropriate name reflecting common usage (up to a point). Part of the reason for the reversion to the old name was that the user who made that move is relatively inexperienced and did not discuss the matter on the article's talk page (I can see that there is a need to do that, especially now). How about we move discussion there...*right now*? ;) Regards, Bumm13 (talk) 03:20, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

For some people The Wailers (rock band) could refer to either the reggae or the garage rock band, while The Fabulous Wailers clearly identifies who the article is about, and uses the common name which the band themselves currently use to uniquely identify themselves. That is why I feel the The Fabulous Wailers name is "clearer, more helpful, less confusing, and follows policy better". Policy does say to use a natural and common name rather than one employing disambiguation brackets. When using brackets it means that editors have to pipe links and amend templates such as {{findnotice}}. I find the notion that an acceptable move is objected to because the user is inexperienced to be understandable though inappropriate. However, the user does need a warning that they shouldn't be edit warring over the move (I note from the history that they have moved the page twice). If on reflection you still find the The Wailers (rock band) to be preferable, then yes I will open a move discussion. SilkTork ✔Tea time 08:43, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cowboys Stadium/AT&T Stadium[edit]

The fan who initially moved AT&T Stadium back to Cowboys Stadium after it had been there a few months reverted your move and then almost immediately an anonymous IP edited the redirect on AT&T Stadium so that it would need administrative action to clear (this is the 3rd time they have done that). Any additional input/help would be much appreciated. I have yet to see any valid Wikipedia reasons why it should stay at "Cowboys Stadium", yet somehow the "discussion" continues. --JonRidinger (talk) 02:13, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@JonRidinger:: Less than two months went by between the undiscussed move and the initial objection with a revert to "Cowboys Stadium". Reverting to the prior long-term stable name and waiting for a move discussion to occur seems like the ordinary practice, and I see no harm in letting that happen in due course. What's the rush? —BarrelProof (talk) 05:09, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find anymore info, my native language is french, and it's pretty difficult to go further in research.

PS : i also Added a message on SNK page without answer of anyone!

Speedy deletion nomination of IMPACT[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on IMPACT requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://web.archive.org/web/20041204152818/http://www.spaceflight.esa.int/users/file.cfm?filename=fac-iss-col-impact. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. FYI, the copyvio was brought to my attention by someone else. See this edit. Reventtalk 12:40, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, as all the copyright violation text was unrelated to the original article that I started and was not added by me. Cheers! Bumm13 (talk) 02:55, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DyingScene.com[edit]

Good day sir - I'm writing to you today because someone at wikipedia is practicing favoritism regarding the extension DyingScene.com. I am unable to use this extension as a valid citation source due to the fact it was blacklisted over 7 years ago. How can DS not be considered a valid news source when sites like punknews.org and absolutepunk.net are? They do more interviews, album reviews, exclusive premieres and publish more original content then either of those sites. This week, an admin deleted a page I created because wiki will not accept DS as a valid source. Please instruct on what avenues we must pursue to get justice in this matter, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robzwop (talkcontribs) 15:48, 14 July 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for December 2[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Web browser engine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Embed. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A gentle reminder about WP:OVERLINK[edit]

Hi Bumm13. Thanks for your edits to Anthony Bourdain. I'd like to also remind you of the wiki MOS guideline regarding overlinking. Specifically these points therein of two of the things that should not be linked:

  • Everyday words understood by most readers in context
  • The names of major geographic features and locations, languages, nationalities and religions. France should not normally be linked; the republic of Tuva should.

Consequently I'm going to trim back some of the wikilinks you added, so the article doesn't turn into a "sea of blue". Thanks again, Softlavender (talk) 10:53, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Broadcom?[edit]

I noticed you have contributed to articles on Broadcom Corporation and/or Broadcom Limited (formerly Avago Tech). Just a quick note that there is a discussion here about whether or not Broadcom should be a disambiguation page or refer solely to Broadcom Corporation. Cheers! Fred Fish tone[edit]

I just now noticed you added a tone template to the article on Fred Fish. It seems pretty reasonable to me. Could you please elaborate over on the talk page there? Michaelmalak (talk) 14:16, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
