Hello. Thanks for your attention to Antifreeze vs Antifreeze protein. Pages shouldn't be 'moved' by cutting and pasting their content, however, as this loses the continuity of their edit history. images on Images for deletion[edit]
Quick note here that may be of some help: instead of uploading Image:WAMap-doton-Maryhill_b.png to replace Image:WAMap-doton-Maryhill.png, then listing the latter on IFD, you can just upload the new version with the same filename as the old; it'll update the image, and you won't have to fix links or go through the IFD process. Console screenshots[edit]
I plan to do the Atari Lynx-inspired screenshot section (8 pics/2 rows) for every console that I can emulate. I may also do some additional galleries, but I am not sure yet. The screenshots for the early consoles were tiny (usually <2 kb), but the 16-bit games need 10kb-50kb. Doing screenshots also becomes much more time-consuming as newer games are more complex and because I don't know many of the newer games. I am going to finish the SNES section today (re-using many existing screenshots), and maybe Sega Master System as well. Colecovision is already done.
Video game years[edit]
Hi Bumm13 - I've noticed you've been adding video game year categories to articles like Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Metroid. What I'm wondering is, what sources are you using for these dates? For example, according to GameFAQs Mario 3 appeared in Japan in 1988 and North America in 1990 - you gave it the "1988" category. Mario 2 appeared in Japan in 1992 and North America in 1987 - you gave it also a "1988" category. And that's not even including European release dates! –Andre (talk) 20:22, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I remember that Nintendo Power as well, but SMB2 could not have come out in October 1988, because that first Nintendo Power was summer 1988 - specifically, I think, July/August (NP used to be bimonthly), and the game was out prior to the first issue of the magazine. Also, it seems weird that SMB2 and 3 would have debuted in the same year. Using the Japanese release dates seems like it would be a good idea, but as you probably know, SMB2 debuted in Japan much later than it did in the U.S. Perhaps merely the earliest release date could be used. Arcade games are not video games[edit]
Hi, Bumm13. This is kind of related to the issue above. I noticed that you've been going around adding arcade games to various computer and video game categories (e.g. [[Category:19xx computer and video games]]). On Wikipedia, video games and arcade games are not the same thing. I know this can be confusing since many people refer to arcade games as video games, but on Wikipedia, we've needed to make a distinction. Here, arcade games are dedicated machines designed to play one specific game (such as Spy Hunter). Video games, on the other hand, are games played on dedicated video game consoles, such as the NES or Sony PlayStation. And computer games are games played on a personal computer, such as the Apple II or PC.
Therefore, please refrain from adding arcade games to the various computer and video games categories and changing the dates from the year of release of the computer and video games to the year of release of the arcade games.

Hi, I am a user of the German Wikipedia (Chigliak) and saw that you started to describe the part of the Pan-American Highway known als Bolivarian Highway (or Carretera Marginal de la Selva). I tried to sketch the South-American System (in German Panamericana) and had to guess many sections due to extreme lack of information (I used some publications from the 1980s that are available online at the OAS), but did not find any good information on the Venezuela part. Licensing[edit]
I was looking at the U.S. city/state articles and noticed that you've made a number of changes most specifically dealing with the dot maps. I've chosen to multi-license all of the rambot contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike Licence. I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all your contributions (and dot maps if possible, however, I probably need to ask User:The Anome to do the same, since your pictures are derivations.) (or at minimum those contributions on the geographic articles) so that we can keep most of the articles available under the multi-license. Many users use the {{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}} template on their user page, but there are other templates for other options at Template messages/User namespace. If you only prefer using the GFDL, I understand, but I thought I'd at least ask, just in case. -- Ram-Man 18:13, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
- Hi. I have no problem with dual-licensing my particular dot-map contributions to Wikipedia. I simply used the same method that was/is being used by Seth Ilys. You might want to talk to him and Catbar as well as they are the other two primary contributors of dot-maps to WP. The only issue I worry about is the sheer number of maps that would need to be edited to change the license tags, but I suppose someone could make a bot to do that (you seem quite good with bots ;) . - I have and will contact those others with regards to licensing issues, and will get back to you later if I learn anything that affects you. And I am sure the rambot could perform a mass relicensing if required. What I am most concerned about at this point is the actual edits made to the city articles, as the edits are licensed apart from the pictures themselves. As such, if you want to multi-license the edits themselves, you yourself will need to explicitly make note of that on your user page by adding the appropriate template somewhere on the page. For Example:
- I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- {{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}
- OR

- I have an update for you. I asked the original authors of the source county images to multi-license, and they have agreed to use the "CC-by" license. If you would also be willing to use that license (or the CC-by-sa), then we can use that license for the city dot maps that you have created. You seemed agreeable to this kind of arrangement above, but I would at least require explicit permission before I run the bot over those articles as well. (The bot updated the county images with no problems). I plan to ask the others who participate in the dot project as well. - OK, I did add them back and marked New London as partial. From my perspective, it's not at all "pointless" to include villages and cities in multiple counties if they actually are a part of multiple counties. The Mexican spur routes are not speculative. One of the New York Times articles lists where they rejoin the main route. The only one I am not sure about is the Eagle Pass one, since that was apparently added later. --SPUI 00:21, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)

dot map licensing update[edit]
I have to thank you for multi-licensing you recent dot-map contributions, although in the image description you should use {{Cc-by-sa-any}} and {{GFDL}} for the templates, rather than the one you have been using. It is mainly for your user pages. I don't know if you've changed your licensing for all the dot-map images you created before I asked you about this, so if you wanted to, you could add the {{MultiLicenseWithCC-BySA-Any}} tag to your user page (or User:Bumm13/Licensing), and make a note saying that all dot-map images are licensed under the terms of the banner. If you want to rework copyright violation articles you can do so at a temporary subpage, which is linked to from the copyvio notice. Overwriting the notice means there is a risk of leaving copyright material in the page history, and makes it complicated for administrators to deal with the violation. I find it very considerate of you to ask such a question; the article is rather well-written, although it contains a few mistakes to which native Spanish speakers are also prone, such as using the passive form (e.g., es interpretada) instead of the more idiomatic reflexive (e.g., se interpreta). The only glaring error is the use of distintivo (which in Spanish is almost exclusively used as a noun, meaning badge); an impersonal verb, distinguirse, is often used in Spanish in that context. A thorough nitpicker migh also complain about capitalization, which tends to be more restricted in Spanish; cultivar names, for example, are usually left uncapitalized. But you're well above the es-1 figure you gave yourself.

why did you delete my byirat article, for info on byirat.com that is info i found, search byirat, or www.byirat.com on MSN or Google, and go to www.farclan.com, they where hacked by these people. here is some info i added into a new, improved byirat article.
website that appears to be for website hosting, and has some information on japanesse singers, this site has appeared to hack a few sites, certain sites, including www.farclan.com, have been hacked, the homepage had a link in it that had byirat.com/images/img.txt, which is phpRemoteView (RemView), anyone who edits, or deletes this article, please give a good reason and contact me for that reason.
If you delete this talk again, please tell me the reason, so i can understand why you deleted it.
Can I ask you why you deleted that article in accordance with CSD? It seemed like a legitimate article subject to me, although it was written in a very POV way i.e. that of a positive review. That was the reason why I slapped the NPOV tag on it. I see that a user has placed a db-attack tag after my edit. your modifications based on NPOV in Pirahã and Aymara languages has led to erroneus information and nonsense.
I personally don't think that the use of the word "interesting" or "remarkable" are idicators od non-NPOV.
The page on Piraha was re-edited and i'll try to figure out a better solution for Aymara

I was just updating the article for Ashland, Wisconsin, and noticed that the map you created at Image:WIMap-doton-Ashland.png had the dot in the wrong location, not by much but enough to be incorrect. The dot was somewhere on or even east of the Bad River Indian Reservation, which is directly east of Ashland. Ashland borders the county line between Ashland and Bayfield Counties. I've modified the image and uploaded the corrected map in place of the old one and just wanted to let you know why I was doing it. ⇒ BRossow T/C 15:08, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

You recently created Image:Signal Hill in LA County map.png and added it to the Signal Hill, California article. I would like to ask your opinion on my idea for redoing the image. Since Signal Hill is a very small town completely surrounded by the city of Long Beach, California, do you think that it would be a good idea to redo the map showing Long Beach in light blue or some other light color? - I wasn't trying to suggest or imply that you redo the image. I was just asking some advice on doing something different from any of the other maps on the Wikipedia. To do what I suggested above is something that I can easily do. To create the original image, however, is something I wouldn't know how to do (I assume that it was created using some GIS software).
- My personal opinion for maps on the Wikipedia is that for most locations being mapped that are enclaves, it is probably best to also show the surrounding entity as well. In the Southern California area, for example, I know that Villa Park is completely surrounded by the city of Orange, and the combination of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood is completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles. The City of San Fernando is also an enclave of Los Angeles. (For more examples around the world, see List of enclaves and exclaves.) BlankVerse 07:04, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
