Sockpuppet question

I'm curious what, if anything, should be done with this and I thought I'd ask your advice. Newbie,learning (talk · contribs) has used 2 IPs to first commit abuse, then evade a block. 219.91.203.71 (talk · contribs) was used for the initial uncivil behaviour, even after creating his account, then when it was blocked, 218.220.153.143 (talk · contribs) was used to evade the block and uncivily demand its removal. They're IPs so probably putting sock puppet tags on them and indef blocking is inappropriate, but I feel like a record of this behaviour should be had somewhere (especially since the main account hasn't been blocked). This is all established through their obvious comments and here [1] 219.91.203.71 reports his user name to Sue Anne as she requested on the IPs talk page. Maybe its no big deal, but I'd appreciate a little feedback on what you think. This user has just evaded his block for a second time here [2]--Crossmr 03:52, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

This is a case of more than common edits. If you view 219s talk page Sue Anne asked him to post on her page when he gets an account, which Newbie,learning does. After 219 is blocked for incivility, he posts in the same manner as 218 and signs as 219 admitting to being that user. Then 70 does the same thing. I've checked the IPs and its a clear case of someone using proxies as one IP is from Comcast in the US and the other is from Japan, but the content of their messages is the same and each one signs as 219. He hasn't gone and avoided the block again yet by getting another IP. For a clear trail see these edits linking them all together [3] [4] [5] those are all clear admittance of block avoidance and it all being the same user. To tie that to the user account see this diff [6] and this diff [7]. That is pretty clear cut. However I'm just not sure how "big" of a deal this should be.--Crossmr 05:08, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Barnston's not a coastal island!!

Hi. Just saw your addition to British Columbia Coast; I'm not even sure I put Westham, Lulu and Sea Islands on there when I built it; they're estuarial islands rather than proper coastal ones; but Barnston's definitely not on the list; in "Islands of the Fraser River" if there were such a list; same reason that Long Island and Echo Island aren't on the list; they're inland.Skookum1 07:16, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, now you know ;-) Come to think of it, I can't think of any other estuarial islands farther up coast; there's none in the Skeena or Nass estuaries; Kaien Island, where Prince Rupert is, stands as a coastal island just outside the mouth of the Skeena; but if you look at topos, the boundary between salt and fresh is put far up the Skeena from there, as its lower reaches are like an inlet and it's one of those "hard to say where the river ends and the sea begins" kind of things; same as with the Nass, though there's no island there as there in the same way as Kaien. I left Lulu, Sea, Westham etc out because they're surrounding by more or less fresh water (all tidal, though); but the other coastal rivers don't have islands in their mouths.....if there were more islands in the Fraser maybe it'd be worth doing a list, but really the only significant ones number only in the dozen range - Iona, Lulu, Westham, Sea, Annacis, Barnston, Crescent, Matsqui, Nicomen, Seabird and Herrling; Saddle Rock's an island, of sorts, I guess; so that makes eleven, not quite enough to bother with a list. Thirteen if you count Poplar Island, which ultimately probably needs an article (New West I.R. #1 and the old smallpox quarantine) and the forested bar-like thing between Sapperton and Surrey; it's actually fill resulting from an ancient fishing weir, believe it or not (also worth an article). Might have missed one or two much smaller ones, e.g. around Chilliwack. How many items does it take to warrant a list, I wonder?Skookum1 07:29, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Vancouver/Richmond as a destination

We are using airline destinations as the master list for destination naming. All destinations should match what is there so that all of the articles use the same form. Encylopedias try to name something the same way everywhere it is used. Vegaswikian 07:49, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
