The date shown for Willem Jansz' discovery of Australia is 26 February 1606. As Willem's logbook was lost, how can we be so sure of that date? Authors of books covering the topic either do not show the specific date (e.g. T.D. Mutch) or suggest it might be early March 1606.

Stopping at Eendrachtsland[edit]

The article says that Frederick de Houtman stopped at Eendrachtsland. However, the letters of both de Houtman and Jacob Dedel say merely that he sighted Eendrachtsland, discovered by Dirk Hartog. This can be found in the paper by J.E.Heeres - Part Borne by the Dutch in the Discovery of Australia 1606-1765. So, what evidence is there that de Houtman actually stopped at Eendrachtsland?
