Edits to Tooth and Co[edit]

Thankyou for you contributions to Tooth and Co. May I ask the source of your information so that it may be added as a reference? Quaidy 05:03, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To obtain information on the financial state of Tooth and Co, check the Annual Reports. To obtain a copy, I suggest that the first port of call should be the Powerhouse Museum. Tooth employed a full time researcher, and when Adsteam acquired Tooth, contents were forwarded to the Powerhouse.

The Vatican: Tom Watson was the manager of Tooth and Co for some forty years(?), and early in his career there, a newspaper (Possibly the Sun, or the Sydney Morning Herald, gave Watson an adverse report. In retaliation, Watson forbade communication with the newspapers. As a result, research of the company during Watson's reign may be difficult. As a listed company, Tooth was still required to produce annual reports, and these should still be obtainable from a search. TRy the SMH, Sun, or AFR archives, at Fairfax or at State Library. I saw the mention of the vatican in the Sun newspaper between 1970 and 1975 (if that helps). It is possible that the Powerhouse museum has a copy of the offending article in their archives.

I am also aware that the archives include a newspaper clipping regarding the fire at Kent Brewery circa 1900.

Bid for Millers: It is more important that Tom Watson and RW Miller severed ties because of the failed bid.

Courage: This was a defensive move because of the growing Club Trade. Tooth purchased the facilities on condition that the Courage Trade Mark be terminated within one year. "Kill the Rooster"

McKinsey Study: It is possible that McKinseys have archives. Some time after the study at Tooths, Fred Hilmer founded the AGSM at UNSW. It is therefore possible that some of the candidates at AGSM have done management theses regarding Tooth and Co.

Tooth also had a house journal called Tooth Topics. Again try the Powerhouse Museum.

I am aware that a DVD on the History of Tooth and Co was made, but have not seen the video. If I find additional information, I will advise you.

Lacking information: I suspect (but am unsure) that Tooth and its various properties were a single legal entity. (It is a common practice for larger companies to partition their subsidiaries.) This would be contained in the Annual Reports or MBA theses if any.

Good Luck. Brew22 (talk) 00:52, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
