January 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added such as to the page Coptic Orthodox Church in Europe do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Links should only go in articles they relate to. It is entirely unnecessarily to have a link to the southern US diocese in an article about Europe. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 05:32, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Coptic Orthodox Church in South America. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Every diocese does not need linked in every article about a coptic church. —C.Fred (talk) 05:35, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fred,

Thank you for your message. No inappropriate external links are beng added. An update of the current correct links is taking place. All current links are church links which are proper, relevant and needed for the article. All Wikipedia rules and regulations are being followed.

Thank you for yur support.

I disagree. As I said, I fail to see how links for churches in the southern US are appropriate for an article in LA, or how links about either of those churches are appropriate for an article on Europe. I've left the links in the List of churches article, since it's so omnibus. However, at the more local levels, I don't see how all the links are applicable. —C.Fred (talk) 05:55, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fred,

It is all one-united church, our church in south america for example is linked to the mother church and on going visits from bishops of different dioceses to south america is taking place on a monthly basis. Furthermore, reading a short article about our church in south america may require further or additional information which can only be available in Egypt's mother church and local dicoses overthere.

Hope I was able to express our church point of view. Thanks for your consideration.

If that degree of linking is necessary, you should put the inter-church links on the church's websites.
Additionally, you probably need to look through the guidelines for editing when you have a conflict of interest with the subject. —C.Fred (talk) 05:04, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
