Just want to say great job on the new template, a lot better than my previous effort.--Tiburon 13:01, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox Styles[edit]

How come the styles of userboxes are being changed? I made an effort to keep them in line with the Wikipedia:Babel templates (which were the original-style userboxes) for consistency. I don't particularly mind a change but I might put them back in the future just to keep everything consistent with one another. mdmanser 11:34, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nah look it's no real big deal anyway. No worries at all. mdmanser 01:24, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Melbourne, North Queensland Colours[edit]

Hey nice work on the new ones. To make life easier for you, just upload your new images over the existing file names so that you don't have to amend each individual page. It'll also keep naming styles consistent in the file names. Cheers, mdmanser 14:01, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nah not to worry. I'm usually protective of what I do, but those new ones look good, so I have no issues with that. And to be honest, you did a good job with the userboxes too. Keep the good work up. mdmanser 14:06, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just one thing though - I think we should stay away from using the fb start and fb end templates in rugby league articles. I've worked with them before and they make more problems than they solve. In my opinion just stick with the traditional way of doing things and it'll keep everything a lot more simpler. --mdmanser 14:16, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a free image of Karmichael Hunt or can you get one.

I am trying to get Karmichael Hunt to Featured Article status and need a free image of him.

Thanks

Template: State Sports Teams[edit]

There is an anti-football person changing the templates to read soccer. I reverted but this person - User:58.168.232.23 - undone them again. I can keep undoing the vandalism but it will just chew up bandwidth and space. Your advice? --Falcadore 11:29, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cricket maps[edit]

Hi there - only just noticed the new cricket maps - they look great! -- Chuq (talk) 12:24, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Swapping order of sports[edit]

Hi. Is there any reason other than your own personal preferences for the swaps you have done here and here? It looks suspicioulsy lke POV pushing. -- Mattinbgn\talk 10:56, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, although I wouldn't let WP:WA hear you call Melbourne "senior" to Perth! As for Wagga Wagga, League is definitely the most popular spectator sport, but based on my time there, I would say that AFL is as big if not bigger on a participation basis, but it doesn't really matter. -- Mattinbgn\talk 11:13, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My only problem with your edit there was that you marked it as a minor edit. Removing content, especially a paragraph, is never minor. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 11:28, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sports maps[edit]

Hi again, just thought I would mentioned I have made some minor changes to your "future" A-League map - including a different icon for GCG. Apologies for playing in your sandbox! Also a question about the cricket map - I notice you have ACT coloured blue, since that was its former colour when it played in the One-day Cup, but as the map is used on various domestic cricket articles (such as Pura Cup), which the ACT never played in) it may confuse readers. Also the NT is left grey, as it doesn't have a team, but the NZ colour is marked as grey on Ford Ranger One Day Cup - obvious to Aussies, but may confuse other people. Perhaps we should remove the colours for NZ and ACT from both the table and the map? -- Chuq (talk) 02:08, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe, but the fact that it is orange (and not grey) might make people think NT has a team, and wonder why it isn't in the list, etc... perhaps a different shade of grey (light grey = no team, dark grey = NZ?) -- Chuq (talk) 07:33, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Football Queensland[edit]

Hi. I noticed you updated the Football Queensland template to include the QSL. But I think you should include the previous version as well. It's still relevant to Football in Queensland and if someone wants to find a link to the Gold Coast Soccer or Sunshine Coast football it'll be easy to find. Blackjanedavey (talk) 03:53, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis[edit]

Hi, there is an extremely long and muddled discussion going on at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found on tennis player articles (i.e. this type of table), and I'm notifying you as you identified yourself as a member of the project. The dispute is over the "Tournament Name" column, with the options being to either use the "sponsored tournament name" - in other words, the name involving the sponsor, for example Internazionali BNL d'Italia - or the "non-sponsored tournament name" - in other words, Rome Masters. I appreciate that this conversation is very long and convoluted, so a brief summary can be found here, which is also where I request the discussion continues. Vote for Football as the Australian collaboration[edit]

Hi -- I recently nominated Wikipedia:WikiProject Football (soccer) in Australia/To-do for the Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight.

This WikiProject has been inactive for a long time and with the World Cup coming up, it would be good for football (soccer) articles to be in depth and comprehensive in Australia.

If you would like to support it, click here for the project page to cast your vote

Thanks! Australian Matt (talk) 02:56, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sports team templates[edit]

Hi Bongomanrae, the best place to ask would probably be Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football (soccer) in Australia. I would recommend either "Association football" or "Football (soccer)", the former being the name of the sport throughout Wikipedia, and the latter being slightly shorter. I haven't been successful in gaining a consensus for either though but they are my two personal preferences! -- Chuq (talk) 11:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding [[Category:PNG Rugby league logos]] to pages that belong in it.

I tagged the category. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of tagging and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to remove the tag if you wish. However, removing the tag will not prevent deletion of the category if it remains empty.

If you created the category in error, or it is no longer needed, you can speed up the deletion process by tagging it with {{db-author}}.

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 02:13, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you believe that your userpage does not violate our guidelines, please leave a note here and we can discuss it. As an alternative, you may add {{Db-userreq}} to the top of the page in question and an administrator will delete it, or you can simply edit the page so that it meets Wikipedia's userpage guidelines. Knowsley Road photographs[edit]

The first play-off game at Knowsley Road could be the last game to be played there. It's looking likely that not that many more games will be played at Knowsley Road, Belle Vue, The Willows or Wheldon Road and we have very few free-to-use images of them (although the ones we have, particularly of Wheldon Road are very good). I wouldn't like to see our material on these historic grounds go the same way as the very limited material we have for the historic Boulevard Ground, Thrum Hall or the Parkside Ground. If you will be at the next play-off game at Knowsely Road or if you are able to get any pictures of these grounds I would be very gratefull if you could upload them to commons. I can sort out the categories and such if you don't have any time. Alternatively if you know of anyone who could it would be much appreciated. I am unlikely to go to any away games next season because of my current circumstances so will not be able to contribute towards this, although I shall endevour to get some great images at home games (I've a load of the CC final to upload but there sat it a very long backlog).

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Old NRL Stadiums requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it must be substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Bulwersator (talk) 08:15, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect blanking[edit]

Hi, if you have an issue with a redirect that doesn't qualify for speedy deletion, please take it to Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion rather than blank the page as you did with Western Reds. Thanks! -- KTC (talk) 00:07, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is not possible for a non-administrator to move a page to a target location which already exist and has more than 1 line of history (which must be the creation of a redirect to where you're trying to move from). As Western Reds has more than that, it is not possible for you to move the page to that location. Have a look at Wikipedia:Requested moves for instruction in how to either request an uncontroversial move, or list a potentially controversial move proposal for discussion. I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know. KTC (talk) 08:33, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Coomera RLFC.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Coomera RLFC.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:04, 18 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of TAFE Queensland, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://tafeqld.edu.au/about-us/tafe-queensland/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on TAFE South West requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Speedy deletion nomination of Coomera Cutters[edit]

Hello Bongomanrae,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Coomera Cutters for deletion, because it seems to be an article that was previously deleted by a consensus decision.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. AlanS (talk) 13:27, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

About your question as to why the page was deleted. If you want to know more I suggest you check out WP:GNG. In general amateur league teams are not considered notable unless they've received significant third party coverage (news papers and the like). The only links the page had on it were from the titan's website. You can find the pages original deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Coomera Cutters (There's a link at the bottom of that page where you can request a deletion review if you believe the reasons for deletion were incorrect). This is to answer your question on the now-deleted talk page. The deletion log, which you can see if you click on the "redlink" above, shows that the page was deleted after a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Coomera Cutters. After that kind of deletion, if a page is re-created it can be speedily deleted if it is substantially the same as the previously-deleted version and does not overcome the previous reasons for deletion.

If you want to query this, you should ask the deleting administrator, user Guerillero (talk); then, if you are not happy, you can go to WP:Deletion review. However, I should warn you that it is very unlikely that a local amateur club like this can meet Wikipedia's WP:Notability test, which looks for "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:45, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks JohnCD, appreciate the explanation and links. Bongomanrae (talk) 11:57, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

Notice

The file File:Mackay Cutters colours.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
