My pleasure. For reference, I found that bit of info here. Interestingly, it turns out that one or more lines at the bottom marked with class="sortbottom" are sorted among themselves, but stay at the bottom. Thus it is not possible to keep multiple lines fixed at the bottom. Billyboy01 (talk) 03:15, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chen[edit]

Hi, I have again replaced my reference, what is the issue, he is pro abortion and that is easily citable, I need the citation to support some content, what can we do? Why do you dislike the citation saying he is anti abortion, he is anti abortion, isn't he? Off2riorob (talk) 20:24, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Charles M. Oberly, III has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 07:02, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Mariani[edit]

Indeed you are right, he wasn't a Supreme Court clerk. That was a copy editing error in my part; I have a template that I use for categories, and it has that in it by default, and I stupidly didn't remove it. Thanks for finding that and excising it! Jarvishunt (talk) 22 March 2011 (UTC)

After doing a little research, I figured as much. You do good and thorough work you do in creating these articles, so I initially thought I might have to add him List of law clerks of the Supreme Court of the United States! Billyboy01 (talk) 04:19, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do not add ethnictiy when not mentioned in the article[edit]

I noticed you added an assertion that people are Hispanic or Latino to multiple articles that make no mention to the subject being such. You can not assume ethnicity based on last name. It should be stated in the body of the article, preferably with some sort of source, but at least stated in the body and not thrown in in the categories. Not all people of Spanish descent would self-identify as Hispanic. Beyond this the people with such last names could be Filipino, Portugese or in the case of some last names Italian. In the case of females it may be a married name. Then there are cases like Leander Perez, who despite his last name would never be identified as Hispanic, was one of the most vocal spokemen for the continuing of segregation in Louisiana in the 1950s and 1960s, and threatened to leave the Catholic Church after they decided to desegregate their schools in Louisiana. You can not make ethnicity assumptions based solely on peoples names. If you have other evidence on the ethnicity of individuals other than guessing that anyone with the last name of Guzman, Garcia or so forth is Hispanic you should put it in the article.John Pack Lambert (talk) 04:25, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gee, and all this time I thought that relying on my intuition was perfectly acceptable. John Pack Lambert...my guess is Hispanic. I mean, if I can assume Crane and Cardone are Hispanic names, why not Lambert? Thankfully, although John Pack Lambert isn't in the Federal Judicial Center database, FJC does list Randy Crane, Kathleen Cardone, and whole host of other Hispanic judges, so there's no need for me to guess about them like I did John Pack Lambert. In the future, consider asking questions before making unfounded assertions. You are of course welcome to expand the article bodies to mention ethnicity if you wish, but FJC as an external source sufficiently establishes ethnicity. Commons[edit]

Thank you for uploading free images/media such as File:Thomas M. Shanahan District Judge.jpg to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view your previous uploads). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Categorization should follow article text[edit]

The categorization of people should follow the text of the article. If you find a source that indicates something about someone you should incorporate a statement indicating this thing about the person into the text of the article before you add them to a category that reflects this fact.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:41, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
