Thank You[edit]

A big thank you to John Vandenberg - for taking the time to stop by and leave some information.

I am more a 'user' of wikipedia - probably come here at least once a day (unless I am computerless - out camping or something). I find Wikipedia is a great source of information. I am usually looking up things I have little or no idea about - so I wouldn't consider editing any of those pages.

The Royal Hotels interest me because I did some travelling around NSW in 2008 and noticed a lot of towns had one. When I got back to Sydney I did some research and found over 100 of them across Australia - which got me interested - hence my contributions to that page - hopefully one day I will get more info.

It is great that you've started to contribute your knowledge. Every titbit of information added, and every question asked, helps.
Another way to help is to contribute your photos. For example, user:mattinbgn has uploaded tens of thousands of photos of his trips around Australia (mostly New South Wales), including for example File:AdelongRoyalHotel.JPG. We have a reasonable collection of "free" photos of Adelong, but only two of commons:Category:Boggabri, New South Wales. If you are interested in uploading your photos of regional Australia, I'll send you some more information about that. John Vandenberg (chat) 00:17, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

John - yes I would like the info about uploading photos for regional Australia. I have plenty (mainly Tas, Vic, NSW and Queensland) - although a lot I couldn't name the places - but if I took the time and effort I could figure some of them out. Plus I do have a few of the Royal Hotels - which I will one day upload to the Royal Hotel site. Billyash (talk) 01:35, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hello, Billyash, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially what you did for Royal Hotel. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

User pages[edit]

G'day Billyash, our help page about 'user pages' is "Wikipedia:User pages". We usually use our user pages to provide a bit of detail about ourselves, but only as much as you are comfortable with. e.g. you might want to say which region of the world you are in, what your skills are, and what interests you. John Vandenberg (chat) 15:54, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

An example of 'why'.. people add themselves to Category:Wikipedians in Sydney so that they can be notified of any wikipedia:meetups in Sydney. --John Vandenberg (chat) 15:57, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
