Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Biggus Dickus OMG, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, your recent discussion with another editor does not conform to Wikipedia's policy on Civility towards other editors. The focus in any dispute should be on edits and never editors.

There's a page about the Civility policy that has tips on how to interact with other editors. If issues continue, you may need to look into Dispute Resolution.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

February 2010[edit]

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you have been adding your signature to some of your article contributions, such as the edit you made to Sukhoi PAK FA. This is a simple mistake to make and is easy to correct. For future reference, the need to associate edits with users is taken care of by an article's edit history. Therefore, you should use your signature only when contributing to talk pages, the Village Pump, or other such discussion pages. For a better understanding of what distinguishes articles from these type of pages, please see What is an article?. Again, thank you for contributing, and enjoy your Wikipedia experience! Thank you. Tiptoety talk 07:44, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, i realized that after I looked at the preview. I fixed it, though, i think. thanks!

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_PAK_FA, you will be blocked from editing. Please research, not only the type of article you are editing, but the type of sources that are considered useable, verifiable and noteable enough for them. Be careful with your edits and preview them thoroughly, to avoid creating mistakes and duplicates in the article. And if you can, choose a less offensive username. Furthermore, discuss your edits before making them if you are not familiar with the article or type of article. Minor edits are usually the place most users start. If a date is incorrect according to a source. Fix it. If the grammar is poor, correct it. Do not unilaterally declare insults thrown around on Fox News, intended for the lowest common denominator, more noteable to industry sources, defence magazines, local & government sources and continue to edit when you have been told this is not ok.--Senor Freebie (talk) 10:14, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blow me, Senor Freebie. FOX News is the Number One news channel in America. Maybe if you were an american you would know this. Also, I don't think my user name is offensive, you moron. Do you even know who the fuck Biggus Dickus is?? He is a very famous, high-ranking Roman centurion, who was also best friends of Pontius Pilate, the guy who had Jesus Christ crucified.

That is inappropriate. Further posts such as that will result in a block. Consider this your only warning. Tiptoety talk 05:13, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

You have been edit warring, pasting material from other sources into articles in violation of copyright, and engaging in personal attacks of your fellow volunteer editors. Your editing privileges have been suspended, but if you would like to work with other people interested in improving the encyclopedia instead of quarreling with them, please request an unblock. You would need to change your username, but that is simple enough at Wikipedia:Changing username. Regards, - 2/0 (cont.) 07:32, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I do not agree that I have been 'edit warring', to use your term. I have a disagreement with whomever it was that keeps deleting MY edits. Perhaps he / she is the one 'edit warring', or did you not think of that? I also have NO intention to change my user name. I do not see anything wrong with it. Who are you to decide what name a person may use and what is your basis for ORDERING me to change my name to begin with? "Posting material from other sources into articles in violation of copyright", what does that mean? A vast majority of the articles here are cut and past jobs. Has there been a DCMA Take Down Notice received as a result of my editing? No? So then what is the problem? Again, why do you assume that I am the one responsible for 'edit warring'? Since there seems to be no clearly deliniated chain of command here, how can one tell who actually has authority to tell someone else what to do? Or does might make right here??? In a case such as this, where two people are disagreeing about the propriety of an edit, how does something like that get resolved? Since you are not the owner of Wikipedia, by what right do you have to delete my user page and information? This is something that I spent a considerable amount of time trying to put together and you just come along and tear it up! In the United States of America that is a criminal offense (and I should know since I am a federal law enforcement officer). I look foward to hearing your response. Decline reason:

You clearly do not have this project's best interest at heart, as you're creating a WP:BATTLEGROUND situation. The username policy is clear about potentially offensive names - even "Bwian" would agree that yours is one. The chain of command is the community - and all of your actions to date have gone contrary to that community. This unblock will never occur under any of these conditions. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Okay, with regards to the issue of so-called edit warring, I do not understand the procedures that are to be used when you have a situation where two people disagree about whether or not something should be added to an article or removed from an article. I have tried to read over some of the guidelines, but I find it quite confusing. in the end I guess it does not really matter. So if someone has a problem and removes an edit of mine, it's not that big of a deal. I still get paid the same regardless. I will try to avoid this from happening again.

With regards to the allegation that I have an offensive username, I find that to be completely without merit. According to the Wiki policy, "Offensive usernames are those that offend other contributors, making harmonious editing difficult or impossible." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:UN#Dealing_with_inappropriate_usernames This is an extremely vague and ambiguous term that is open to a very broad and potentially unreasonable interpretation. One could just make complaints about any and all names that he or she does not like for whatever reason. Obviously with a name like "I.hate.niggers" or something else equally ridiculous, it is a pretty easy call. But what is it specifically about my username, Biggus Dickus, that makes "harmonious editing difficult or impossible?"

It seems to me that the person making this block is himself in violation of wikipedia guidelines. Specifically, at no time was a referral made to the "Requests for comment/User names" section of Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:RFC/N There has been no opportunity for public dialogue on this issue and that is not fair and it clearly goes against Wikipedia guidelines.

For those of you who don't know, "Biggus Dickus" is the name of a fictional Roman officer from the Monty Pythan movie, "The Life of Brian."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Python's_Life_of_Brian It is a pretty funny movie.

In any event, to sum it up: I am sorry about the allegation of edit warring and I will not engage in such conduct in the future. But with regards to the allegation of offensive username, I totally disagree with this charge. The block that was made on account of this seems, in my opinion, to have been done in complete disregard to Wikipedia's own written guidelines for handling such an issue. The name is not offensive in that it does not make harmonious editing difficult or impossible. Many thousands upon thousands of Wikipedia editors have ridiculous and funny usernames, often taken from the names of fictional people from books, movies, or television.

I request that the ban be overturned or, at the very least, that proper policy be followed as outlined in items that I cited above. Many thanks for your time and most kind consideration! Biggus Dickus OMG (talk) 09:48, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The non-admin comment below is entirely correct. You're hardly the first person to try and argue that a patently offensive name is actually quite benign; just because Monty Python presented us with Mr. Creosote doesn't mean we want Mr. Creosote re-enactors on Wikipedia. --jpgordon::==( o ) 15:51, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-admin comment From my point of view, your username probably manages to offend at least half of the active Wikipedia editors. Just because Monty Python used the name doesn't make it acceptable, in fact, I think that would make it more obvious that it is offensive. Oh, and the reference you used on the article you were edit warring is now unavailable, so I wouldn't bother putting that in again.--Iner22 (talk) 15:19, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is this place run by girls???? That is the most ridiculous thing that I have ever heard! Why would anybody in their right mind be offended by Biggus Dickus? That is so gay!Biggus Dickus OMG (talk) 08:04, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is clear that you've moved beyond your pretense of wanting to edit constructively. I've removed your ability to edit this page. Kuru (talk) 11:25, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
