A tag has been placed on Jeff Patten requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Notability[edit]

I'm sorry that your first attempts have run up against the notability hurdle, and I will try to explain it a little. In the early days there were some who hoped that Wikipedia would be a "list of everything", so that any person, book, company, song... might have an article; but fairly soon it was decided that this was not practical, and the criterion called WP:Notability was worked out. This tries to avoid Wikipedia editors making value-judgements about what is interesting or important by asking a more objective question: is there evidence that people independent of the subject have thought it important or significant? The general statement of this principle is in the WP:General notability guideline, also known as the GNG, which is that: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list." More detailed criteria have been worked out , e.g. WP:AUTHOR, WP:POLITICIAN, WP:NFOOTBALL, WP:Notability (books) and so on, but that is the basic principle.

I have deleted the Jeff Patten page under speedy deletion criterion WP:CSD#A7, because the article did not make a "credible claim of significance or importance". If you can find independent references about him, you may of course re-create it.

Books are not eligible for speedy deletion: another editor has placed a WP:Proposed deletion or PROD template on Cape Neddick Light Station and Sohier Park, which means that it will be deleted in 7 days unless someone challenges the deletion by removing the PROD template. Anyone can do that, including you, and once removed it may not be replaced; but the article might then be nominated at WP:Articles for deletion, which would start a debate lasting seven days. As it appears from its Amazon listing that the book was self-published and of only 30 pages, I am afraid it is most unlikely that it meets WP:Notability (books).

I'm sorry to give you so much bureaucracy, but over the years Wikipedia has built up its own ways of doing things.
