Ben5218 (talk) 22:19, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
Ben5218 (talk) 22:32, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
2020 FIFA Club World Cup

Hi. People attended even UANL vs. Ulsan Hyundai, but according to both PDF reports FIFA did not include attendance data. I don't know why. Report 1 and Report 2.--Island92 (talk) 20:34, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

@Island92: I noticed that too, it's weird that the exact number of attendance was not included in these reports, considering that FIFA usually include it in other competitions' fixture reports, but maybe this year it's different because of the COVID-19 pandemic? Anyway, I'll try to find anything related to the attendance and add it to the article. Ben5218 (talk) 23:33, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
It's the first time ever that I've noticed into PDF official report FIFA did not include this data. The pandemic can be the main reason why. I've downloaded the FIFA app on my smartphone: Tigres vs. Ulsan reports 866 attendance, while Al Duhail vs. Al Ahly says 0. That's impossible because people were present! Therefore I don't trust these numbers quite a lot. I can include them in the article, but a source needs to be but put anyway. Island92 (talk) 11:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
@Island92: Personally, I would prefer to keep the attendance blank rather than adding inaccurate or questionable numbers, until they update all reports with correct and realistic numbers. Ben5218 (talk) 16:46, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
Totally agree. I absolutely hope FIFA could be able to update all its reports by adding attendance data. This report, for example, is an updated version (version 2 at the moment) but attendance data has not been included yet. It is still a mistery. We have simply to wait and see. Let's hope for the best.--Island92 (talk) 16:52, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

Ben5218 (talk) 21:27, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Ben5218 (talk) 22:33, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
Ben5218 (talk) 14:35, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Ben5218 (talk) 17:00, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

A goat for you!

Never sent one of these before, so no idea how this looks, but figured why not. Just wanted to thank you for the effort you've put in on the Egyptian football pages. As a non-Arabic speaking fan, it's quite difficult to find good sources, so it's really appreciated. For instance, I was thinking of making the 20-21 pages for the Egypt Cup, but I see you've already got a draft of the main competition! And it includes details I didn't have/notice, like about Pot 1.

I've actually been trying to figure out the preliminary rounds with moderate success, translated/transliterated about 80% of rounds 2 and 3, unfortunately the picture I found with round 1 is hand-written which I really struggle with (round 4 I found a bit of info on). And I found scores for rounds 2-4 on some random betting site, but without most of the results of penalties.

Anyway, you probably already have that info, but if not, I can get it to you over discord or something?

Regardless, thanks again for your hard work!

Viruk42 (talk) 14:09, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

@Viruk42: Hello! Thank you for this message, it's really appreciated! I've been working in the recent years on creating and improving all articles about Egyptian football here on Wikipedia (alongside African and Arab football too), from clubs' kit patterns to competition seasons' articles. For the 2020–21 Egypt Cup, I have all data and score results for the four preliminary rounds, but it will take some time from me to make sure that these numbers are accurate (check if a team won on walkover, make sure the penalties results are correct, etc..) since I'm also working on other projects. Most likely I'll have an article prepared for the qualifying rounds before next week. Anyway, thanks again! Ben5218 (talk) 00:44, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

Provide link or stop vandalising, national website published ban lifting! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.142.144.188 (talk) 02:29, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello. I'm not sure why you are saying that I'm vandalizing Wikipedia since I've been working here since like seven years, but simply the CAF did not officially announce the ban lifting (even though it was confirmed by various sources inside and outside Libya) so this note definitely has to stay until further note. Not to mention that Al Ahly Benghazi's first match in the 2020–21 CAF Confederation Cup group stage will be played at Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.[1][2] So clearly they is still something not ready for the stadiums in Libya to host matches, but I expect it to host home matches later this month. As for now, that note will stay. Ben5218 (talk) 13:23, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
yes still it says only for that match and definitely not about civil war — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.137.20.134 (talk) 11:32, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay I'll edit it to indicate that only this match will be played outside Libya. Ben5218 (talk) 14:10, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi, just wanted to ask for a quick favour. Could you please add the caps and goals to the Egypt players in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup squads? Nehme1499 10:45, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

@Nehme1499: Hello. Sure thing, I'll add those information and update players' clubs as soon as possible. Ben5218 (talk) 18:00, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
Hi, another thing: keep in mind that NFT.com is very inconsistent in how they deal with "Fifa" and "Non Fifa" matches. The problem is that we don't know what games they are labelling as "unofficial", so it's impossible to compare with other sources. There is relative consensus to sum everything together. Can you please amend the stats? Thanks, Nehme1499 15:09, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
@Nehme1499: Hello. I decided to use statistics from NFT.com since it's the only source we could collect data from, since other websites would be either unreliable (like Transfermarkt) or incomplete (like Soccerway). So including cited stats with >90% accuracy is better than leaving it blank, or at least that's what I believe is right. Ben5218 (talk) 03:00, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
Yes, what I meant was to use NFT, but to sum both Fifa and Non Fifa games. For example: Mohsin Al-Khaldi of Oman should have 62 caps (56+6), not 56. Nehme1499 10:19, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
@Nehme1499: Sorry for the late reply. Personally, I don't think that adding unofficial caps is our best option. If you think otherwise however, then let me know and and I'll update Oman and United Arab Emirates squads as soon as possible. Ben5218 (talk) 03:22, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
My point is that NFT is not clear on why certain matches are official and others aren't. Also, they don't even say which ones are unofficial. All of these games are between two senior national teams (not clubs of U23s, for example), so there is no reason not to include everything. Nehme1499 15:54, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

2004 AFCON Final

Hello mate, can you create a lineup picture for this match please.

Hello. Sure thing, I can create a line-up image for this match, but I need you to confirm to me which formation was used by Tunisia during the match, since Karim Haggui's sweeper position with a three-man defense line is confusing. Is it a normal 4–3–3 formation? Or another uncommon variant of it (1-3–3–3) with Haggui playing behind the defense line? I'll create and upload the line-up image once you confirm the formation used to me. Ben5218 (talk) 03:39, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello Mohamed. I've created the line-up you requested and added it to the 2004 final article. However, I'm not sure if these line-ups are 100% accurate. After watching the match highlights and squad through this link, the screen showed both teams playing in 4-4-2 formation, while the commentator said that both teams played in 5-4-1. I'll look for other sources to make sure which line-up is correct, and I'll update it later if necessary. Thanks. Ben5218 (talk) 00:02, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Yes this is the correct formation, thank you very much my friend.
You are welcome! I've also created and uploaded another version of this line-up in Arabic located here, in case you needed it. Ben5218 (talk) 12:32, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
