I did not delete your article either, I simply marked it, and an admin, having seen the article marked, reviewed it, agreed with me, and deleted it. Nothing personal, we just did not feel your page fit Wikipedia's Criteria for inclusion. You article did not assert the notability of the company because it did not provide reliable, third-party coverage about the topic. I once substitute taught for an American History class and I had to grade tests. But I found myself okaying unapproved answers that made sense and marking as wrong answers that were "correct" but made no sense. The class complained and the teacher had to regrade the tests. - Hey Scaps. I think that information would be more appropriate in an article about the author of the book mentioned or in an article about the book. Seems to be the addition is that of an overzealous enthusiast of that particular line of teaching. Did you like my snide comment about the kid's site? Actually it was quite helpful for me. I am utterly clueless about these historical subjects. They seem passé. :) Old news, if you will. And no one seems to act responsiblty on what they learn anyway, as history repeates itself (back the the inflation, poverty and desperation of the 1970s here we come). :)
As far as improvements go, I suspect mine will have little consequence as far as GA status goes (it appears to me that the article accreditation process has more to do with style than substance... ), but I am happy to offer my opinions anyway.
I thought it was interesting to look at the articles on the other colonial region groupings for comparison. I found it helpful to have a list of what states the regions became. I'm also unclear on exactly what the Chesapeake colonies were as opposed to the Southern Colonies, but I guess that doesn't have much to do with the Middle Cs. Why is Maryland's status disputed?
I do think a little bit of perspective as far putting the Middle Cs in context as they relate and differ from the lower and upper Cs would be good to establish right off the bat. I think it's best not to take for granted that we all know and relate to what "colonies" are. Who were the powers. Why were they settling this area? Who was living there prior to settlement and what was going on?
Also what were the religious and ehtnic/ national fault lines? I think more of a distinction of why the subject is interesting would be fun. Who what where why. Those are my superficial observations. Now I'm going to go read the article. As our country goes bankrupt and disorder ensues, do you think there is a chance of secession? ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:45, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Country outlines project update - 2009/03/08
Remember "Around the World"?
Well, we've been around the World, and around again (virtually speaking, on Wikipedia), on this project.
Things have been slowing down again, so it's time for a big push...
We've gone live
This project needed a shot in the arm. Also, its draft pages have been littering Wikipedia's categories for months. The time seemed right to move all the country outline drafts to article space.
WHAT???
Well, the drafts had been sitting in Wikipedia space for a year.
WHAT???
Development has been moving at a snail's pace and we could use the help of the Wikipedia community at large (who are more likely to find these if they are in article space).
WHAT???
Yes, we've gone live. :)
This puts pressure on us to get the blatantly incomplete elements of these outlines done. The only glaring problem is the government branches sections. These need to be corrected ASAP.
I've mentioned THE GOVERNMENT BRANCHES SECTIONS many times to many people over the past year, but the problem just doesn't seem to have been taken seriously. So let me put it another way:
HELP!!! I need your help on this now. Almost all the countries have a government with an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch. The links for these branches need to be completed for each country outline:
- Here's a convenient list you can use WP:LINKY on to access and edit these quickly. Please copy the list's link to the top of your talk page so that you can access it easily.
If you spot any standardization in links, and ways we can automate parts of this process, or for groups of countries that have links in common, please let me know!
Administrative support for outlines
There has been growing pressure on me to write up the administrative pages for outlines - their instructions, guidelines, etc. Therefore, I'm now in the process of composing these. Fortunately, it is mostly a matter of gathering material from messages I've written to you guys over the past year. Still, this is taking up most of my time, and I will be buried in these for the foreseeable future.
Traffic control
The next big task after the government branches sections are cleaned up is link support for the outlines.
There's quite a list of links and notices that need to be put in place around Wikipedia, providing access to them to readers, and alerting editors to the need to develop and maintain these pages. This will keep our bot people very busy (and happy).
But the most important thing right now is to get the government branches sections completed. So please, put your bots aside, roll up your shirt sleeves, and start typing.

As you are probably aware, the article Barack Obama is under article probation that is detailed here. Editors of such articles should be especially mindful of content policies, such as WP:NPOV, and interaction policies, such as WP:CIVIL, WP:NPA, WP:3RR, and WP:POINT. These policies are especially useful for intimidating and attacking anyone who dares to try and balance Wikipedia's glowing coverage of Obama by daring to suggest in some way that his views or actions might have been subject of controversy or criticism. Wikipedia's Ministry of Truth must insist that you do not attempt to add any content that doesn't follow the most desirable stroyline possible. We will invoke wp:BLP, wp:NPOV, and any other policy we deem necessary whether or not they in any way apply to obstruct those who refuse. Unless your activity here serves our purposes you will be treated with the utmost condescesion and disdain, because content that does not conform to our carefully constructed portrayal of Obama and hasn't been carefully screened by our truth commission in accordance with Wikipedia's Fairness doctrine is utterly unacceptable no matter how many reliable sources and citations are provided. Any attempt to stray from our instructions will be considered edit warring and you will be immediately reverted by the multiple editors who have taken it upon themselves to throw out our guidelines and enforce their personal POV on the article. Remember that the burden of proof is not on them, but on you to prove why the reliable citations you use to support your assertions should be respected when no one elses except those favorable of Obama have been in the past. You're not the first editor who has tried to balance the article and we will use every tool in our power to crush you if necessary. Thank you for your kind cooperation. If you cease daring to question our authority we may let you live in some small corner of Wikipedia, but please remember never again to try and improve the encyclopedia in this way (reliable sources, citations, notability) when it doesn't consist of accolades for Obama, the only type of editing we consider helpful. - I am sorry that I did not respond sooner; I unfortunately was busy with other activities which discouraged me from taking on any large Wikipedia project. However, I have now begun my own copyedits to the article. Overall, it is well-written (I must mention, also, that it is EXTREMELY well-researched, and incredible job really) and I am mostly making tweaks for sentence flow and styling (eliminating passive voice where appropriate, etc...) Also, after reading up on Wang Mang, I found that only some historians labelled him a "usurper", so I reworded or eliminated the label in the interest of not promoting one historical view over another. - I have a question on a fact in the article. These sentences: "To placate his prominent commanders from the war with Chu, Emperor Gaozu enfeoffed some of them as kings. By 157 BCE, the Han court had replaced all of these kings with royal Liu family members, since their loyalty to the throne was questioned." confuse me, as the structure leaves room for ambiguity. - It was the kingly non-relatives whose loyalty was questioned, not the relatives to the emperor who were made kings. Also, keep in mind that emperor's titles as seen in the article are posthumous titles; the emperors did not assume those names in their lifetime. (Unindent). To answer your question: Yes! Well, maybe not all of them. History of the Han Dynasty failed its FA nomination because some editors opposed it over its large size (even though it does not violate the maximum 100 KB limit for prose). I simply do not know what else to cut from that article without sacrificing vital material; so much has been cut already. I just don't have the time or patience to deal with that article and am content with its current Good Article status. As for the other articles, Economy of the Han Dynasty and Government of the Han Dynasty are small and manageable enough to pass as FAs. Deleting Hospitals
why is a hospital considered spam? Does Wikipedia not consider health care important?? l santry (talk) I have corrected some other hospital pages to conform.
- The article as it stands now looks fine. Chances are at the time of deletion the article addressed the hospital in a glowing tone, used words like "we" which imply an advertisement, or including things like mission statements or only promotion of the hospital. See WP:NEUTRAL. Like I said though, the new version of the article looks fine now; all it took was writing an encyclopedia article rather than a promo. Cheers! - Happy to help! I was unable to find a reference for the initial renaming to New Jersey, which the article had previously stated was by the British in 1649, some two decades prior to their actually taking the territory. That didn't seem right, and I couldn't read the reference one sentence later in that section to double-check. Do you have a reference for that 1649 usage of the name? I'm not sure if you know this, and it's unnecessary detail for this particular article, but James II referred to the area by the dual names New Jersey and New Caeserea! I have no idea precisely who came up with either name or precisely when.
- The Yale Law School provides this document [3], the exact text of the Duke of York's 1664 release to Berkeley and Carteret, which may be the first official declaration of both names, but I would assume one or both names were in use by some prior to this time and I'd love to learn how early and who started that.
- There is a detail or two which your subsequent copyedit erroneously reverts. Nicolls sailed from England in May and went to Boston. It was September 8 that the cession was finalized. This diplomacy and propaganda war (and approaching forces) was ongoing throughout the summer. Nicolls sent out statements to the colonists of New Netherland that they could essentially live just as they had been, and would be given all the rights of English colonists. Some were loathe to give up their trade relationships with Dutch companies and banks, so Nicolls agreed to allow them to continue some relations with the Dutch. Stuyvesant did not want to cede, but his efforts to bolster forces and forts and rally troops to fight the British weren't bearing fruit. I fear the way you've changed it makes it sound like it happened suddenly in September and that it was Stuyvesant's decision to give up. Essentially it seems it was actually the people of New Netherland, including those charged with defending the territory, who decided this by accepting British terms made to them over a period of several weeks, if not months, leading up to the Sept. 8 date. It's one of those circumstances where the story becomes the province of the famous few people at the top (if that many), when in fact the reality was more complex and more democratic than that.
