Lead sentence[edit]
Hi. Thanks for your excellent contributions to defensin articles!
Concering the lead sentence in Gene Wiki articles, as discussed here and here, we have tried to make clear that these articles are not only about the human gene, but also orthologs that exist in other species. The wording that was reached through consensus is perhaps a little awkward, but it is both accurate and concise:
- <recommended UniProt name> is a protein that in humans is encoded by the <approved HUGO gene name> gene.
Ideally we would like a lead sentence that is accurate, concise, and smooth. But it seems that we can only accomplish two of the three goals. Any suggestions you might have to improve the lead sentence are certainly welcome.
In a related issue, because of the frequent disconnect between the UniProt and HUGO gene names, as discussed here, there have been additional proposals to tweak the wording further.

Copying licensed material requires attribution[edit]
Hi. I see in a recent addition to Virtual colony count you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance.
