However, according to Prosopographia Imperii Romani, Messalina's paternal grandfather was not Marcus Valerius Messalla Messallinus but Marcus Valerius Messala Barbatus Appianus (PIR1 V 89), a Claudius Pulcher by birth (son of Appius Claudius Pulcher, cos. 38BC) adopted by Marcus Valerius Messala, cos. suff. 32 BC. Also, PIR doesn't list Marcus Valerius Messala Corvinus as Messalina's brother. This Corvinus was, in fact, from another branch of the Valerii Messalini gens. See the stemmata published in PIR.

There are various forms of colloquial, however, so it could be different depending on what modern colloquial language that's being referred to. • There isn't really a lot of information on this regard in Thai Wikipedia. There are no specific articles about Age of Consent and even law related articles are mostly stubs such as th:กฎหมายอาญา (criminal law). • In Thai Law, there are many specific ages for legal purpose
  • Age of Consent for juristic act According to Civil and Commercial Code of Thailand, Section 19. A person, on completion of twenty years of age ceases to be a minor and becomes sui juris. This Section is the general provision which measure the person whether he/she is a minor or not.
  • Age of consent for marriage Book 5 of the Civil and Commercial Code states that marriage can be done when both parties are seventeen (17) years of age but with a reasonable ground , the court may permit them to be married before.
  • Age of simple majority According to the Prostitution Prevention and Suppression Act, " child " means a person who is not yet over 18 years of age.

• I think recent case of the lead singer of the Thai music group Big Ass was charged with statutory rape would be involved with section 283 bis. The text of Penal Code of Thailand, section 283 bis is

"Section 283 bis. Whoever brings a person over fifteen years but not yet over eighteen years of age for an indecent sexual purpose, even with the consent of that person, shall be punished with imprisonment not exceeding five years, or a fine not exceeding ten thousand baht, or both.

If the commission of the offence in the first paragraph is committed against a person not yet over fifteen years of age, the offender shall be punished with imprisonment not exceeding seven years, or a fine not exceeding fourteen thousand baht, or both. Whoever conceals the person who was brought away as provided in the first, or second paragraph, shall be punished with the punishment accordingly provided in the first, or second paragraph.

The commission of the offence as provided in the first and third paragraph against a person over fifteen years of age is the compoundable offence.”

This section is not involved with the Age of Consent. Its purpose is only the children protection.

• Ok, that's the difficult question.

There're 2 main theories about the word "bring" in Section 283 bis First, It means "to take away from from his/her own position". And the other is "to prevent him/her from exercising of parental power over him/her"

However, there's no any decided case in Thailand that indicate which theory is the most applicable. Both of theories were showed together in each of the decided cases. The Judges use both of them with equity.

In my opinion, the first theory is more applicable than the other one. Because this section is not protect only the minors, but persons over fifteen years but not yet over eighteen years of age, even though they are not a minor anymore.

• The question is about the law against adult prostitution.

In the beginning, There was The Prostitution Suppression Act of 1960. Customers are protected since they have a right to buy sexual satisfaction as part of long-standing Thai tradition. There was no penalty for customers and only a minor penalty for the prostitute.

This law was passed in 1960 partly as the result of UN pressure. The Act replaced the Contagious Diseases Prevention Act 1908, which aimed to control prostitution. The Act provided that convicted prostitutes should be reformed through medical treatment and a period not exceeding one year in an assistance centre where they were to receive vocational training.

Then, The Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act of 1996 a very strict law was enacted that makes it a serious crime to engage a prostitute, if she is under age 18. The Act also helps the prostitute who is not over 18 year of age who shall receive protection and vocational development for a period not over 2 years

"Safeguarding the welfare of Thai women and children is a national priority for the Government of Thailand. Of particular concern to the Royal Thai Government is the exploitation of children for the purpose of commercial sex. Young girls and boys too often are lured or forced into working in brothels and other sexually oriented establishments by profiteers."

This 1996 act adds a provision for the first time it seems that goes after the customer, but the only penalty is a maximum of 1000 Baht ($US25):

Section 5. Any person who, for the purpose of prostitution, solicits, induces, introduces herself or himself to, follows or importunes a person in a street, public place or any other place, which is committed openly and shamelessly or causes nuisance to the public, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one thousand Baht.

But it seems the offense must be committed "openly and shamelessly or a nuisance to the public" I would assume it would be hard to prosecute someone who does this privately with a bargirl in a privately owned bar, as opposed to yelling the offer on the street.

The definition of prostitution is also interesting:

"prostitution" means sexual intercourse, or any other act, or the commission of any other act in order to gratify the sexual desire of another person in a promiscuous manner in return for earning or any other benefit...

It does not define "promiscuous manner" and the fine is very small with no jail time option.

But it then adds:

Section 6. Any person who associates with another person in a prostitution establishment for the purpose of prostitution of oneself or another person shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one month or to a fine not exceeding one thousand Baht or to both

Here the one month in jail is a bit scary... but that is the maximum penalty plus only 1000 Baht.

What is a "prostitution establishment" ?

"prostitution establishment" means a place established for prostitution or in which the prostitution is allowed, and shall include a place used for soliciting or procuring another person for prostitution;

Now if in Western terms a procurer acts as a pimp it gets worse:

Section 7. Any person who advertises or agrees to advertise, induces or introduces by means of documents or printed matters, or by any means makes known to the public in a manner apparently indicative of importunity or solicitation for the prostitution of oneself or another person shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of six months to two years or to a fine of ten thousand to forty thousand Baht or to both.

Note that the above provisions apply regardless of age.

However, in 1966, when the Government was seeking to increase state revenue from the "Rest and Recreation" activities of the US armed forces stationed in Vietnam, the Entertainment Places Act was also enacted. It paved the way for sexual services under the guise of special services to be legalized in entertainment places. The Entertainment Places Act is still in force,sexual services is available in a number of forms, in the guise of “special services” if they are offered at entertainment places, such as bars, go-go's, massage places, etc.

In conclusion, consenting adult prostitution is illegal only officially in Thailand, not in practice.

Hi Axel. Actually, the article already has a sentence addressing that question. It says:

"If a ring has invariant basis number with respect to left R-modules, it also has IBN with respect to right R-modules. For this reason, the choice between left and right R-modules is left unspecified."

Oh yes, I didn't see that statement. It might be useful to clarify it earlier, right in or after the definition. So is my understanding correct, the three statements

1. For all m and n, if R^m is isomorphic to Rⁿ as left R-modules, then m=n.
2. For all m and n, if R^m is isomorphic to Rⁿ as right R-modules, then m=n.
3. For all m and n, if R^m is isomorphic to Rⁿ as left- or right-R modules, then m=n.

   are equivalent, and either can be taken as definition of IBN? I suppose the following two statements are weaker:

4. For all m and n, if R^m is isomorphic to Rⁿ as left- and right-R modules, then m=n.
5. For all m and n, if R^m is isomorphic to Rⁿ as R-R bimodules, then m=n.

That's certainly possible, but it would need some theorem that I'm not aware of. All the examples I know of rings R with R isomorphic to R ² only work as one-sided modules, not as bimodules. But that isn't saying much. AxelBoldt 18:24, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

It seems to me that statement 4 follows from logical considerations alone (if a→c and b→c and a↔b, then a∪b→c (#3) and also a∩b→c (#4)). As for statement 5, I would expect the following to be a theorem of module theory: if M and N are isomorphic as left R-modules and isomorphic as right R-modules, then they are isomorphic as bimodules.

Yes, if a ring satisfies #1 (and therefore #2), then it must satisfy #3 and #4, but the other direction is not clear to me. Unless we knew that for any ring R and all m and n the following is true: Rⁿ is isomorphic to R^m as left module if and only if Rⁿ is isomorphic to R^m as right module. I doubt that though.

Regarding the bimodule isomorphism statement: I doubt that also. The left- and right-R isomorphisms could be different maps; for a bimodule isomorphism you need a single map that's linear both on the right and on the left. AxelBoldt 04:29, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey Axel. OK, so about the alleged bimodule theorem, I think you're right. I gave it a try, and as you point out, the possibility of distinct left- and right- isomorphisms seems to kill that idea.

I haven't found a reference for you. I was working through Rotman's Homological algebra when I wrote this article, but unfortunately he breathes not one word about the issue of both modules. I think I had some supplementary sources, and I must have gotten it from one of them. I don't think I would have made that up. Let me take some more time. -lethe ^{talk +} 23:32, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello AxelBoldt :-) Why are you pressing the point with a RFC? A good number of experienced users have looked at this issue and explained why the information is being removed. You need to understand that those of us that answer OTRS tickets are regular users that understand and fully support Wikipedia policy. We evaluate tickets and then decide if there is a valid request based on policy. We do not automatically remove information if that is the request. Your comment is s/w odd given the fact that the people answering the ticket have more information about the situation than other users. How will bringing in more people with less information help the situation? I ask you to reconsider prolonging the discussion as it causes more stress to the person and will eventually have the same outcome. FloNight 01:40, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it's a matter of lacking information about the ticket; it's pretty clear and also understandable that the person wants their name removed. Instead it's a matter of policy: should individuals get veto power over including verifiable information about them (information that they have republished themselves!), even in the absence of any legitimate expectation of privacy? Several people, including you, have mentioned "policy" to me without ever pointing to the specific published rule that's being applied. I suspect that OTRS people have developed their own unpublished rules for dealing with these matters, and if so this is not a good thing, and needs to be discussed by the community at large. Including information about a non-notable person against their will needs to be fully supported by multiple non-trivial mentions to overcome the burden of harm that occurs from being mentioned on one of the largest web sites in the world. Several experienced editors disagree with your opinion that the content is well supported. We have explained why the content was removed. Also, do you think that the OTRS volunteer handling the issue was aware of the fact that the individual in question republished the Maxim article (which states his true identity as co-owner of the business) on his own website? I don't think you can complain about violations of your privacy if you have committed them yourself.

Nana Plaza owner

Lek Nana owned land around Soi Nana area (Sukhumvit 3 and 4). So the Soi is named Soi Nana. And Nana Plaza name came from the Soi. That was intention of my edit. He is the same Lek Nana you found in those websites. He is a notable person. I don't know who owns those land and the Nana Plaza now. This link is still broken. It leads one straight to a "404 Page Not Found" error page.

Although I've been using the Web since it's public debut in '94, I'd not heard of the "Internet Archive" until I read this.

I'm glad someone's doing this, but I question as to whether US (and other nation's) copyright laws do not limit what this "Internet Archive" can, in fact, store.

After all, I just saw Rush the week before last, I can't take the pictures my friend took with his camera phone and post them on a website or publish them in a book or magazine without Rush's permission.

I didn't see an exemption in Federal law--or an international convention--to allow the "Internet Archive" to do its work (though I admit I didn't have time to read the entire article).

Perhaps a template (?) could be created similar to the warning that Rush Limbaugh uses on his site whenever there's a link to source material:

"*Note: Links to content outside RushLimbaugh.com usually become inactive over time."

Perhaps a link to the Internet Archive could be included?

After all, if the webpage is inaccessible at its original URL, what is the point of keeping that URL in the article?

The link at the bottom of the article Charles Keating to the Justice press release works; it goes straight to the Internet Archive. This cannot possibly be a copyright violation since Dept. of Justice press releases are in the public domain. As to the general legality of the Internet Archive: I don't think they have ever been sued; people can have their material removed if they don't like it being archived. Khalistan movement edit

Quick response to your message: the edit is clearly not NPOV, although in one instance it corrects a POV statement tilted the other way: "unsubstantiated allegations" of attacks on civilians, which in fact have been substantiated to one degree or another. However, the edit is so poorly written that a total revert seems justified. It's true that Amnesty International condemned human rights abuses by the Indian army, but that should be referenced as well. Regarding Children's Pachinko version

I honestly do not know if Japan has a children's version of pachinko but I do know this tough... Japan sells toys similar to pachinko sort of like mini pinball machine but with no paddles. I know for sure Taiwan has the home-made glass marble type version on the night markets because I was born in Taichung, Taiwan. Children redeem the glass marbles for toys and candy. I guess I will clarify that on the Pachinko article. Thanks for the question.

In response to your comment, "Hi, it appears to me that you are trying to promote a website on Wikipedia, Pornhub. This is not permitted; see for instance Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and WP:NOT#ADVERTISING," I find it interesting that when the Porn 2.0 article makes reference to websites PornoTube and YouPorn you do not consider that publicity, but when it references PornHub, you do. Porn 2.0 is an evolving market and PornHub, though new, responds to challenges of the Web 2.0 economy in new and original ways. If it is reasonable to outline the difficulties of a Web 2.0 website, is it not also reasonable to outline ways in which pioneers are seeking to answer the complicated issues of web copyright and monetization in a 2.0 environment? If all mention of companies in Wikipedia is "publicity" then ALL trade names should be removed. Or is there a particular reason that you singled out PornHub as "inappropriate" while leaving other websites of it's kind in place?

Tags aren't just there for the benefit of the editors who place them there; they add articles to cleanup categories which allow editors who are interested in this kind of work to identify areas of concern. That an editor might not have the time nor inclination to clean up a section at the time does not mean that he should not flag it for the attention of the community. Please don't remove tags like this in future without addressing the issue at hand; the community at large has agreed that they are useful to the project as a whole, and do not count as "litter". Tags such as these don't help our readers; editors' bookkeeping tags shouldn't be the first thing a reader sees, in screaming orange at the top of an article. Place the article in the category or put the tag on the Talk page if you must; the far preferable cause of action would be to fix problems you identify yourself, rather than asking others to do it for you. The logical end point of your attitude would be a long list of trivial complaints at the top of every article. AxelBoldt (talk) 02:27, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

This is certainly a logical line of thought, but it isn't policy. I'm not going to argue the whole issue of the merits of cleanup tags with every editor who disagrees with them; I'm going to continue placing them on articles for the reasons I've given, and on my next pass of the article I'll probably re-tag it if policy hasn't changed. I'd rather that you didn't remove tags because they disagree with your sense of aesthetics when there's a body of editors who rely on said tags to organise their cleanup work. So did you actually disagree with the point the tag was making (that a bulleted list of dates is not the best way to represent the section)? That's not the point you've been arguing thus far, which indicates that you categorically dislike mainspace tagging. If you feel that the best way to express your dislike of mainspace tags is to rip them off of articles, I really do think you'd be better off discussing the issue upstream. It's easy enough to add something to your site CSS to hide said tags if you find them aesthetically displeasing, but removing them entirely on the principle of disliking tags does a bit of a disservice to the cleanup community. Spam on page you've edited

Hi AxelBoldt, I was reveiwing a page that you've edited the title is Prostitution in Nevada. It's come to my attention that they same web site that has hacked our site and spamed our blogs is using their link on the bottom of the page as an authoritive resource however this company is not an authority in the industy but a comment spammer and wiki spammer from diferent i.p. address. Please verify by the link that was added to the site and note that theyre are no other "useful" outbound links in any other articles. I read wikipedia often but am not an editor, the reason this particular situation concerns us is we were the only "Licensed" entity in the State of Nevada to solicit prostitution. You can verify this via the Nevada Secretary of State, the name of our corporation was Las Vegas Escorts until the laws were changed and the name could no longer be used and we then changed the name to JGG of Las Vegas (all documented with the secretary of state) we've also been the first to enter the internet market with the domain of www.lasvegasescorts.com, and currently have the largest group of people handing out literature on the street.

We're not looking to have our name or link put on this article but rather rectify what is not suppose to be here and since I'm not an editor I felt the best way to ask for help was to contact an editor thats added content in the past to the article. No firm idea as to when the photo was taken. Dobson was a guitar performance graduate from Canada (can't recall what University/conservatorium)who emigrated to New Zealand in 1960's. But you have to concede that there are times when a contributor sees a problem but is unable to fix it. Sure, I agree there are cases like that, missing references would also sometimes fall into that category. But in general I think the growing tagging-craziness for minor style issues is a pox. Some contributors seem to think that they somehow improve the encyclopedia by placing a fitting tag at the top of an article (and there's always a fitting tag out there somewhere). That's certainly a lot easier than fixing the problem at hand. And ultimately it doesn't do anything except make the encyclopedia uglier. Also, I believe that some people take tags to be somehow "official", and adding (or removing) a tag is seen as somehow at a different level of editing than changing ordinary text. I'm responding to some sourcing concerns raised at WP:FAR and can't find a source for the "two player" variant which was in the very first version. The early history of very old articles is not to be trusted because of several software switches. While I did contribute a lot to early versions of that article, I didn't write all or even most of this initial version. I seem to remember that I did write this paragraph though:

There is one additional twist. In the original game show, there were in fact two contestants. Both of them chose a door; they were not allowed to choose the same one. Monty then eliminated a player with a goat behind their door (if both players had a goat, one was eliminated randomly, without letting the players know about it), opened the door and then offered the remaining player a chance to switch. Should the remaining player switch?

The answer is no. The reason: a switcher in this game will lose if and only if neither of two initial choices of the two contestants was correct. How likely is that? Two-thirds. A sticker will win in those 2/3 of the cases. So stickers will win twice as often as switchers.

I believe the fact that the original show used the two player variant was mentioned in the big New York Times article about the problem that included an interview of Monty. I'm not sure if the article mentioned the differing analysis of that variant or if I added that.

Reading over the sentence above again, I notice that it is incorrect. It should say "The reason: a switcher in this game will lose if and only if one of the two initial choices of the two contestants was correct. How likely is that? Two-thirds. A sticker will win in those 2/3 of the cases. So stickers will win twice as often as switchers."

The paragraph morphed into Monty Hall problem#Two players over time (which fixed the wording). The NY Times article is online here and doesn't mention the original show had two contestants. I've seen descriptions of the show that do mention this (not that it matters but I watched the show and don't remember this). I guess the thing to do is to delete this section since the only reference I can find [4] seems likely to be based on some historical version of the Wikipedia article (it doesn't cite any references so it's hard to tell if there would be a circular reference issue). You're right, it's not in the NYT article. It seems Monty would have mentioned such an important detail if it really were true. [On the other hand, maybe the two-player version was only occasionally used, maybe if the two players got the same number of points in some preceding game, and Monty didn't believe that fact to be relevant.] I honestly don't remember where I got it from -- possibly from an even earlier version of the article, or from one of those descriptions you mention. I guess removing the whole paragraph is fine; it's a fun little riddle-on-top-of-the-riddle that illustrates the subtlety of the situation, but not that important overall. Everybody who truly understands the analysis of the one-player version should be able to correctly analyze the two-player version.

Reeves explained the new downward compatibility to PS2-Singstar titles in more detail. It will be realized with a software emulation which is contained in a coming firmware update. With this, all PS2-Singstar episodes would be directly playable on the PS3. There is no need for a PS3-Singstar. "We will observe for which titles this would also pay off, and in the future we will possibly get other PS2-games to run on PS3 by emulation." This is however a technically very complex process, since the necessary PS2-chips are missing in the current PS3-models.

btw, as an explanation, Sony removed PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility from the PlayStation 3 in models that were released after the original launch models and quite a few people are unhappy with that because they don't want to keep their PS2s plugged in. That quote was part of an interview with Reeves, who is the head of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and it appears to point toward Sony adding PS2 compatibility to the PS3 via emulation, which is a significant challenge (some say it's impossible) because the PS3 lacks any RAM that is similar to the ultra-fast EDRAM included in the PS2. I wasn't sure if the Google-translated version was accurate or not so I asked you to help. (I've seen your name pop up a few places and I remembered that your userpage said you speak German natively and you obviously also speak English very well) Again, thanks very much for the translation. Red Blood Cells

I amended the definition of red blood cells as there seems to be an error in your source of information. Around 98% of oxygen is present in the blood as oxyhemoglobin and around 2% in the plasma and not the other way around. It also makes good sense. If oxygen was primarily dissolved in plasma would we have retained erythrocytes over millions of years? Proofread for German Wikipedia

I see you speak German a lot better than I do. Would you like to proofread our three-paragraph article on Naturist Christians? In German, it's also called FKK-Christen referring to Freikörperkultur. This has already been translated into French, Spanish, and Portuguese, and posted to Wikipedia. Currently, all versions are in my Sandbox, and can be individually edited by paragraph and language. Hi, AxelBoldt! Would you mind reviewing Lutz Heilmann and helping me out with something? I'm considering the Category:LGBT politicians from Germany, and the ref provided is in German (which I don't read). As far as I can tell (from Google Translate), the document says he helped organize Christopher Street Day, which doesn't mean he's gay. Furthermore, none of the news articles about the man (and there have been several since his Wikipedia fracas) - none of them mention his sexual orientation. And furthermore, the web pages that *do* mention his sexual orientation are all sensational gossip rags/blogs/etc, many of which may be reporting based on *our* claim about his sexual orientation.

I don't think that mentioning terminally ill patient "Fischer moved into an apartment in the same building as his closest friend and spokesman, Garðar Sverrisson, whose wife Kristín Þórarinsdóttir, a nurse, later looked after the terminally ill patient. Garðar's two children, especially his son, were very close to Fischer." in the Iceland section is appropriate and I don't really think that the whole sentence needs to be included in the article its notability is probably fringe.

Also I don't think that "Fischer also developed a friendship with Magnús Skúlason, a psychiatrist and chess player who later recalled long discussions with Fischer about a wide variety of subjects." This line is of encyclopedic interest.

Imagine Peace Tower

Thanks for making the correction re prisms at Imagine Peace Tower. I really doubt if there are any prisms in the installation, but Yoko Ono from the very start of conceptializing was dreaming of prisms so I didn't pursue that line much beyond mentioning it on the talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Imagine_Peace_Tower#Height_of_Beam. Hi. Could you please iluminate me about the content of a "The Lancet" article about bras and breast cancer?

Comments about prod request for Mahmoud Vahidnia's page

I proposed the deletion of Mahmoud Vahidnia's article on wikipedia on Nov.3 and you objected it. I thought to write my detailed concerns and see how we can move from here. Would appreciate if you let me know.

This article fails the Basic Criteria of Notability. The depth of coverage in this case is not substantial and we need "multiple independent sources" to prove notability. (trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability.) [10]

"Notability is not temporary" guideline suggests that a topic needs to have had sufficient coverage in reliable sources to meet general notability guidelines. This is not the case for this article. Although what happened has been covered in some Iranian blogs, Iranian news agencies. Atlanta Journal Constitution and LA times, it has not received sufficient coverage from "reliable sources".

The article lacks "Neutral Point of View". That is, the article reports on the news from one group's views without fairly presenting majority- or significant-minority's point of view. For example, the website of the supreme leader of Iran reports this event with a different view point while we do not see that view point here. Some references are in Persian (while this document is in English) and some are not "reliable sources".

the fact that the website of the supreme leader of Iran reports on this incidents establishes to my satisfaction that it is notable. Major newspapers are considered reliable sources for our purposes. Sources in languages other than English are also perfectly acceptable. The NPOV concerns you mention should definitely be addressed: not by deleting the article but by expanding it. Apparently there were some problems with templates making the link-count useless, and the feature was disabled. See discussion at Wikipedia talk:Special:WantedPages. UC4

If you have the time, could you take a look at the google news sources for this company—most are in German; see link in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/UC4. The article was developed by a spammer, which usually doesn't bode well for notability, but occasionally such articles are on notable topics, and require clean-up instead of deletion. flickr liscencing

If I wanted to up-load images from flickr, what liscence would that fall under? You up-loaded this image [11]. What are the liscencing rules?

The only flickr images that you can upload to Wikimedia Commons or to Wikipedia are the ones licensed under CC-BY-SA or CC-BY. You find the image's license on its flickr page under "Additional information"; click on the text "Some rights reserved"; if you are sent to a page that says "Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike" or "Creative Commons Attribution", then the photo is fair game for Wikimedia Commons. Upload it there and add the template {{flickrreview}} to its page. The gory details are explained here. If the image's flickr page shows a different license (for instance "all rights reserved" or "noncommercial" or "no derivative works"), then you cannot upload it to Wikimedia Commons or to Wikipedia. In these cases, I usually contact the owner of the image and ask them to change the license so that the image can be used on Wikipedia; most people will happily do so. Lambert W function

I've seen that you've been active in editing the article Lambert W function, among other things regarding the derivative. In an older version of the article, it was claimed that ${\frac {dW}{dz}}$ is defined for $z\neq 0$, which you changed to $z\neq -1/e$. I guess you mean that the function is analytic at z=0 and that the derivative is defined there, whereas the slope is infinite at z=-1/e. However, from the expression ${\frac {W(z)}{z(1-W(z)}}$ it is not immediately clear that the derivative is defined and with what value at z=0. It is also not clear whether W(x) refers to only the principal branch, the real-valued Lambert W function or the complex-valued Lambert W function. Hi! I simplified the intro a bit and clarified the section on the derivative. It's true that W'(0) = 1 (for all branches), but it doesn't follow from the implicit differentiation. I see that you have boldly reverted Theodora's article by 2 years. Considering the amount of work to reinsert some of the useful content that's been added after that date, you're a bolder man than I, Mr. Boldt. :-)

I also see that we share several general interests beyond this historically significant Roman empress: physics/astronomy, and math, at least. How about the RE generally? How about mathematical sociology?

I will read the Theodora article to see what you've achieved. As for her father's allegiance, (1) I don't know, and I don't have a good source at hand. (2) If I am the person who stated his allegiance (quite possible, 2 or 3 years ago), then the information almost surely [;-)] came from Diehl. I do see that Bury (http://penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/Roman/Texts/secondary/BURLAT/15A*.html) says he came from the Greens, but that the Blues favored his surviving family more. Bury is only a secondary source, of course; my guess is that Procopius is the primary source of the story, but Google does not turn up anything useful for me. Updating of Belgian Community information

the page Template:Infobox_Belgium_Municipality/Population puts automatic information of NIS in the part population Template:Infobox_Belgium_Municipality

example look to Aalst, Belgium, it's 2006, look the dutch one http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aalst_(Oost-Vlaanderen) and you have the 2010 information

so you can't change it you're self but the current information is quite old 2006!

is it please possible for someone to update this?

it's really ridiculous because on the dutch page everything is 2010 but when people of other countries update information they look mostly on the english page and copy that information so they put the 2006 information of the english page while correct information of 2010 is on the dutch page

so please can someone do something?

It was clear at the time that LC was working in computational complexity theory; at least a graduate student but probably a professor. To establish his or her identity now without compromising anonymity, it would be sufficient to ask a question like "Could you describe, in just a few sentences, what you hold to be the most exciting development in complexity theory of the last five years, and why?" C*-algebras and quantum field theory

Good day! I can not understand some satement in this section C*-algebra#C*-algebras and quantum field theory. As I know all quantum fields are defined in some region of Minkowski space. And physical systems are describe by interacting Lagrangian of fields. Quantum fields are operator-valued generalized functions on Minkowski space. Instead of "operator-valued generalized functions" you can also use generalized functions that take their values in some C*-algebra (since the operators on a Hilbert space form a C*-algebra). MSU Interview

Dear AxelBoldt,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

• Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
• Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
• All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
• All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
• The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. Invitation to events in June and July: bot, script, template, and Gadget makers wanted

I invite you to the yearly Berlin hackathon, 1-3 June. Registration is now open. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, then please register by May 1st and mention it in the registration form.

This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.

We want to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!

I also thought you might want to know about other upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.
