Nandita Das[edit]

Hi, Thanks for you Bollywood related contributions. I have removed the text you added to Nandita Das, since it comes from http://www.nanditadasonline.com/aboutnandita_inc.htm and in its present state not encylcopedic. If you have acquired permission for the text, please state so on the talk page and rewrite it from a Neutral Point of View. Can you please tag Image:NanditaCol.jpeg and state the source. You have already done this for Image:NanditaCannes2005.jpeg, but can you please be clear on which press office gave the permission - Nandita's or Cannes. Please feel free to ask for any help you require. Thanks. -PamriTalk 07:25, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Pamri. Nandita's press office gave permission for all these images to be used. I am just too much of an ingenue and girlie not to know how to go back and 'change tags'! Help! ;o) I have also re-written. Delighted to be a part of this community - proud Wiki asians. Autumnleaf 13:20, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No probs, I will walk you through.
  • Go to the images that you have uploaded: Image:NanditaCol.jpeg
  • Click on the edit tab
  • Insert a license from Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. You had inserted NoRightsReserved for the other image, which is good enough.
  • State why you think it is free. For example, from press office is vague and can be reworded to Nandita's press office gave permission for all these images to be used. or something else. If you have an email permission, please forward it to permissions at wikimedia dot org and state you have done. This is optional and not needed, but people (like me :-D) will have less to complain.

For Image:NanditaCannes2005.jpeg, clarifying the permission bit is enough. If you still find this confusing, leave a message on my talk page and I will do it for you.

Its even better if you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons, since other language wikipedias can use it and we can group together free images of Indian actors in one place. Again, if you need help here, ping me on my talk page. Thanks for uploading the Pictures. --PamriTalk 13:54, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have uploaded the images to Wikimedia Commons myself. I have retained file name, copyright tag and have attributed you as well. See commons:Category:Indian actors.

PC Sorcar[edit]

Hi, you did well on the tag thingy. Just edit List of Indians & add him to the appropriate section. For the category, edit PC Sorcar and replace & with . Edit Category:Indian magicians and then add the two categories: & to the page. --PamriTalk 02:54, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pamri - you are so cool! Still not been able to figure things out. Meanwhile - I think I discovered another person to put into all those links - aladin ring any bells? Asian Age did a really good piece on him a few years back - he is more or less expat Indian as his mother is Assamese and his Dad ex-East Bengal; check his website. If you wouldn't mind - could BOTH these guys be put in the right lists and sections? THANKS Autumnleaf 17:21, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have created Category:Indian magicians for you and categorized the two articles you mentioned. Its recommended to reply to the user's talk page in most cases, since we can't track everyone's user page. --PamriTalk 18:13, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV tag[edit]

Hi, You added the NPOV tag in a wrong manner for the Jet Airways article. I think you did a , which is not necessary for this template and the code makes the page clunky in edit mode. Just inserting NPOV is enough. --PamriTalk 14:07, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hi Autumnleaf, this is in response to your thanks on my talk page. I feel it may interest you to look at Category:Indian people. Guess we'll keep running into each other with our edits on India-related articles. Hope you'd continue editing through Winter, Summer and Spring as well, :)Gurubrahma 18:36, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Great timing - was just leaving something for Pamri above, do check please. Definitely should go into Indian people category don't you think? As to keeping up momentum, well; I hope to slip in a few more edits between now and New Year's Eve, don't worry! Autumnleaf 17:25, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Just saw your msg. Well, as things go here, we reply on the addressee's talk page unless specified otherwise. As Pamri said, it is difficult to keep track of who is saying what. Some users typically want both the queries and replies on their page with the plea that they do not want conversations in fragments. But they are in a minority. And if one does not want fragments, they can always copy-paste their messages to the addressee on their own page as well (just-as-you-did). However, I think it is an unnecessary waste of time and effort. So, to keep it short, respond on the addressee's talk page; and they'd do so too. As far as categorizing goes, do as you please and ppl will correct the mess, if any. If it is serious enough, they'll also let you know. I can understand your feelings about wikipedia resembling a techno gizmo and intimidating to new users as I too was in the same situation not very long back. However, generous use of the Show Preview button is good enough to cure one of all the techno-phobias. Best, --Gurubrahma 14:27, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Hi again!![edit]

just noticed that you voted on pamri's RfA as soon as I listed it on wp:inwnb - good to know that my effort hasn't gone waste ;) btw, the main reason why I'm writing to you now is that you've marked your edit on the RfA as minor. It would not be considered a minor edit - pl. have a look at Wikipedia:Minor edit. Hope you're enjoying your time on Wikipedia, Regards, --Gurubrahma 10:49, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Good edits on Shahrukh![edit]

It is always a pleasure being edited by someone who can actually improve one's prose. I usually have the experience of having my passable prose mangled by someone who writes even more clumsily. Thanks so much. Zora 11:15, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If you really want some work to do ... someone added a LOT of material to the Guru Dutt article and it's a bit rough in places. The article could use a good copyedit. So, I think, could Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, and Kishore Kumar. Also, the List of popular Bollywood films is full of recent hits and sparse on the evergreen classics. If you're one of those people who are up on every film that Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Guru Dutt, Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, etc. ever made -- this is the job for you. We need articles on Bhagyashree, Vijayantimala, and Nimmi as well. Enough work? Zora 12:10, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Thanks from Pamri[edit]

Hi, Thanks a ton for supporting and voting at my RFA. I am now a wikipedia administrator. I hope I can keep your trust and hopefully, we should interact more in the future. Thanks again.--Pamri TalkReply 05:01, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Glad you're back at work[edit]

Competent copyediting is always needed. Thanks. Zora 00:18, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Jet Airways[edit]

I have seen your comments on the Jet Airways talk page. It would be a lot better if, instead of deleting, the information is rewritten to be NPOV. The previous versions of the article seemed to have more (though POV) information.

Hmm. Please sign in next time - I can only say that the page was more or less a factoid branch of the official Jetair site and was therefore not encyclopaedic editorially. If readers want industry internal data they need to go elsewhere. No other page on an airline has quite the style and content of material originally on the Jetair page - which is a good pointer perhaps to how to adapt this one Autumnleaf 19:16, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Zealous company?[edit]

I'm confused. Who? What? If diplomacy is required, better you than me. I'm blunt to a fault. Zora 22:46, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Friendly note[edit]

Hi, just noticed that you fought off a vandal at Sania Mirza (It has been reverted to a slightly older version which has different text and references, though). Next time you find a vandal in the act, apart from reverting, you may also want to add a test message and its variants test2, test2a, test3 and test4 based on the severity and the frequency of vandalism as well as the prior warnings received by him on the user's talkpage. btw, I've also left some comments on Talk:Asha Bhosle. Good work on bollywood personalities, I was planning to create stubs for all Dadasaheb Phalke awardees, it may take some time though, as my hands are full at the moment. --Gurubrahma 06:10, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    drop in will ya[edit]

hey aladin article needing your attention. Tiksustoo 19:03, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Aladin[edit]

A very happy & fun new year to you too. I have voted keep at the article's afd and kept a watch on it as well. I don't see any signs of ethnic cleansing. It would be good if you can point to such specific actions. Anyways, you can try adding it and since it is on my watchlist, I can notice any removals. Guidelines at Wikipedia:Fancruft & Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies) would help you with the cleanup. --PamriTalk 05:43, 2 January 2006 (UTC) Yeah, I am surprised that it was put up deletion. It was obviously notable, especially to a person who had contributed in the discussion pages. Thus, I found it hard to believe that the user had listed it for deletion. I'm sure it will be kept. :-) Englishrose 10:46, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Delayed wishes!![edit]

Delayed wishes for a happy new year. On second thoughts, 362 is much more than 3, so the delay shouldn't matter ;) Yet to look at Aladin - wd. do so in a couple of days. btw, while u were away, I became an admin. Let me know if you need any help with admin related activities. --Gurubrahma 14:46, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Aladin Afd[edit]

I was just wondering if it was just me who thinks aladin is notable. Thanks for verifying the Times - although if you see my discussion page girlinwhite did that a while back. Not that they pay any notice at AfD. Now - what more than a three page article in the world's leading newspaper could establish a person's notability? Probably the spread aladin got in the Asian Age! Call me a cynic about this one. Autumnleaf 01:41, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the message. I agree with you, the views expressed in the AfD are mostly absurd, uninformed, or marked by some bizarre form of jealousy. The people who vote often look for any reason to vote delete. I think they must enjoy destroying other people's work, which is one of the reasons I waste a lot of my time fighting to keep articles. The American bias is also overwhelming. It's pretty sad on the whole. In any case, the Aladin article will probably remain, but now needs to be redone. Cheers, -- JJay 01:49, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"The American bias is also overwhelming" so I'm not the only one who believes that? Nice to know that when some of my articles are being outvoted 6-5 on an AFD and the 6 are all American that I'm not completely wrong. "The people who vote often look for any reason to vote delete. I think they must enjoy destroying other people's work" I've also noticed that, there's just some users who never vote keep and always find any excuse to vote delete. Englishrose 12:08, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Aladin again[edit]

Autumnleaf, I do hope that I haven't offended you by changing my mind about aladin. I was prepared to support the article as it stood, at first, but as I tried to do a hype-free rewrite, I just couldn't confirm stuff that should be confirmable by googling. I'm a darn good googler, have been doing it for years, always try different combinations of search terms to check my results ... stuff that should have left a trace hadn't. I don't regard newspaper articles as very good sources. I've been news very occasionally, as has a company I helped start, and journalists often get it wrong.

Note that while I've rewritten the article to include what I can confirm independently, I haven't changed my vote. We should keep, and add material as it can be confirmed from sources that can't possibly have taken aladin's claims at face value. A couple of people from Bangalore posting that the Magic Academy exists, some of the "billion" people who watched the broadcast saying that they watched it ... that would weigh with me.

I respect your good sense and your writing abilities and hope that this is a passing cloud. Zora 09:26, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Dissappointed[edit]

I’m completely dissappointed in your use of sock-puppets. You didn't need to use them, the article could have been verified and kept without them. Englishrose 22:02, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request,Nomination for removal of Khalistan article[edit]

Hello Sir I'm nominating this page for deletion because it is written with a point of view , excessive use of unreliable sources.and the title "Khalistan" is wrong for the topic because "Khalistan" does not exist, lack of support from resident Punjabi's and Sikhs in India, but there was a "Movement for Khalistan" and that is the right title for the topic, and i think this whole article "a new name" should be rewritten with the help of people from sikh community "in" India and other Indians, because this topic is related to politics/people of India. We all should understand Khalistan is not a political entity and having a article is not justified, Microsoft Encarta and Britannic encyclopedia don't have an article known as "Khalistan" but they do have articles on the movement that took place decades back, and i think there are also copyright issues involved with this article because big parts of this article are written on other peoples research. Many reliable sources are used to show "one side" of their view on the topic, there are also indications that organisations banned by US and EU are involved in providing their research on the movement.I am a strong supporter to have a stub on this topic , but im afraid that such articles on wikipedia have become mouthpieces for organisation which are known for disrupting peace (assassination of one of india's prime minister, twin bomb blast in New Delhi on the eve of Diwali) in Indian sub continent. This article requires your attention , please help. Anmol.2k4 18:49, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
