What are the four general rules at Wikipedia?
The four general rules are to respect your fellow Wikipedians, remain neutral, cite your sources, and to ignore a rule if it prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia.
How do I edit a page?
  1. Click 'Edit this page' or 'Edit' on the top of the page that you want to edit.
  2. Make your changes in the edit window.
  3. Preview your changes by clicking the 'Show preview' button.
  4. Click the 'Save page' button.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them.

What are references, sources, and citations all about?
All claims must be supported by a book, website, or news organization independent of the subject of the article. The source must be reliable, meaning it cannot be a blog, MySpace page, or personal website. This makes it difficult, if not impossible, to prove that an inaccurate statement is true, and that it should stay in the article. The policy regarding this states that the statement has to be verifiable, not necessarily true. See Wikipedia:Verifiability for more information.
How do I insert a reference into an article?

For inline references:

  1. Do a search on Ask.com, Google, or your preferred search engine for the subject of the article that you want to put a reference in.
  2. Click 'Edit this page' or 'Edit' in the Wikipedia article, and insert a claim into that article stating a fact about the subject. Don't click the save button just yet.
  3. In the search you did in step 1, find a website that supports the claim you made in step 2. Highlight the address in the address bar (where it says http://www.some-website.com/some-page.htm).
  4. Go to the reference generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out the as many fields as you can. Then click 'Get reference wiki text'.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text.
  6. In the article, after the claim you made in step 2, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied in step 5.
  7. If the article does not have a References, Footnotes, Notes, or Bibliography section, then add this below the See Also section and above the External Links section:

For over one hundred years, leading Indian jeweller Ganjam has successfully risen to the challenge of adorning women with works of art that delight and satisfy them. The jewellery crafted by Ganjam has been desired and worn by many maharajas and maharanis of yesteryears and continues to adorn the men and women of modern India, and countries beyond.

The story of this internationally acclaimed brand dates back to the little town of Ganjam in Orissa in eastern India. In 1889, gold yielded its secrets to a young man called Nagappa and a legacy was created. Born into a family with a tradition of gem trading and jewelers, Nagappa soon took the legacy across India conquering new markets as dynasties in the region flourished. Ganjam’s exquisite craftsmanship and design found favor in royalty from the Wodeyars, the royal family of Mysore to the royal family of Nepal.

Today, as dynasties have ceased to exist and metropolitan cities have grown, Ganjam’s pieces of art have continued to win recognition through international acclaim and accolades.

• Since 2003, Ganjam’s unmatched workmanship has been acknowledged in the Hall of Vision at the Basel International Watch and Jewellery Fair in Switzerland, by the Platinum Guild International. This acclaim continued at the Milan Fashion Week in late 2003, when Ganjam showcased its exquisite designs to the fashion czars of the world.

• In 2004, Ganjam’s jewellery adorned models at an exclusive showing at Madame Tussauds, London. At Vicenza and New York, Ganjam’s winning piece at the Gold Virtuosi 2, known otherwise as the Oscars of gold jewellery design, was showcased to rave reviews.




• On May 26th, 2005, Ganjam was formally launched in Tokyo through an event called ‘Wings of Love’, in collaboration with Japanese designer Kazuo Ogawa and Indian fashion designer Satya Paul. Prior to Wings of Love, Ganjam was the only Indian jeweller to be invited to participate in Japan’s celebration of 50 years of Indo Japanese collaboration in 2002.

• In September 2006, Ganjam became the only brand to exhibit heritage jewellery at Lucca Preziosa, Italy, an annual exhibition for significant comparative encounters in the field of jewellery culture and art, Ganjam had the distinction of being the only brand to exhibit 19th century Indian Jewellery, from its Heritage collection.

• Ganjam was commissioned by the Platinum Guild International to create a special masterpiece ‘Iraja’ for display at the international jewellery fair in Basel, Switzerland in 2007.


• ‘Supernova’ was the only Indian design created by Ganjam to win the international Tahitian Pearl Trophy 2008, amongst entries from thirty-two countries. Supernova continued its winning spree when it bagged the Merit Award at the prestigious International Jewellery Design Excellence (IJDE) Award held during the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show.

• In 2008-2009, Genesis by Ganjam features in the Enlightened – Swarovski Elements, GemVisions 2009 trend forecast book. Ganjam was among one of the few jewellers internationally selected and commissioned by Signity to present as one of the trends for 2009. The design Cascasda was invited to be displayed at the prestigious Basel Fair’09 in Switzerland.



• A recent initiative, Ganjam in association with Le Arti Orafe, the premier jewellery school from Florence had organized Lucca Preziosa 2009 - Cutting the Mirror, the first of its kind exhibition of contemporary research jewellery in India. The exhibition aimed to create a cultural space for a significant annual comparative encounter in the field of Contemporary Jewellery Art.

• In 2009-2010, ‘Korona’ by Ganjam features in the Enlightened – Swarovski Elements, GemVisions 2010 trend forecast book. Ganjam was one among the few jewellers internationally selected and commissioned by Signity to present one of the trends for 2010.

• In 2010 Ganjam won the rare honor of being the first Indian jewellery brand to be selected by Japan based Citizen Jewellery to create a presence in the Japanese markets.
