Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, S0091 (talk) 15:45, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

December 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi Antny08! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Alexeyevitch(talk) 00:45, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you. Would you please tell me the article of which you are speaking of? This will help me better understand what it was so I can further improve. Thanks! Antny08 (talk) 02:31, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Battle for Belgrade[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Battle for Belgrade. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Operation Retribution (1941). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Operation Retribution (1941). If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Fermiboson (talk) 17:22, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thanks for your input, and yes, I checked out that article. However, that is mainly talking about specifically the bombing that occurred from April 6 - April 8. However, that Operation does not include the ground combat, and the actual capturing of Belgrade, just the air raids. I will contest the nomination for that reason, but thank you for your time!! Antny08 (talk) 17:41, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. I don't see much evidence of actual ground fighting taking place, however (it does appear that Yugoslav units vacated the city before any serious fighting and casualties could arise). On a similar vein, I can't find anything indicating the Battle for Skopje actually happened, as 1 PzG appears to have bypassed the city. I would appreciate it if you could provide some sources on either article. Thanks, Fermiboson (talk) 23:14, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, for the Battle for Belgrade, I did read when first creating the article that there was some small fights from guerilla forces, I cannot seem to find that article again however. For the Battle for Skopje, I am pretty sure you are right that it did not happen. I have been attempting to look for sources for it, yet I have found nothing. I will remove the article if I can still not find any information. Both the Battle for Belgrade and the Battle for Skopje were listed under List of World War II Battles, so that is why I created those articles in the first place, with the goal of finding more information on them. Once again, Operation Retribution was sort of a revenge operation (its in the name), which is based off of destroying as much of Belgrade as possible. That operation is not about the actual advance and capture of the city, which is why I believe there should be a separate article about the capture of Belgrade, even if there wasn't much fighting. Thanks!!! Antny08 (talk) 00:58, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thank you very much. It does depend on whether you can find sources giving sufficient coverage to the advance into Belgrade itself (if you are aiming for it to be distinct from Operation Retribution, it would need to pass the relevant notability guidelines based only on the ground events, which seems not to be the case). Do let me know if you can find anything. I'll remove the csd tag for now. Fermiboson (talk) 09:45, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Capture of Tikrit requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.firstworldwar.com/battles/tikrit.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". But there is no copyright because I cited that site as a source. I have just changed the text to not be like the text from the site. Antny08 (talk) 14:52, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You very closely paraphrased the cited source, and even with the changes made in your last edit, is still a derivative of a copyright work. You are free to try again by writing in your own words. -- Whpq (talk) 19:18, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I completely understand, thank you for telling me this. I will change it as soon as I can. Antny08 (talk) 20:24, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why did you delete it? You said I could write it again in my own words? Antny08 (talk) 22:15, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Copyright violationns are subject to immediate deletion. You can startbthe articke againn writing in your own words. -- Whpq (talk) 22:23, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any place where I can find how the article originally looked before you deleted it? I forget what was in the infobox, and if I have to spend all of that time again to find the websites and write down the information and sources, I am not going to make the article again. Antny08 (talk) 22:25, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've made the material available to you in your sandbox. -- Whpq (talk) 22:39, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

CaseOh moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to CaseOh. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. GSS💬 13:53, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Thank you! Antny08 (talk) 14:30, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the privacy policy for biographies of living people. Date of birth must cite reliable sources, even in draftspace. If you are unable to provide references to show that the date of birth has "been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public", you must remove it from your draft. CaseOh moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to CaseOh. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because the article does not meet the general notability guidelines, as the only reliable source is Esports Illustrated (and that source does contain significant coverage of the subject). I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. – Pbrks (t·c) 00:29, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I will work on it some more Antny08 (talk) 01:44, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Pbrks, wouldn’t this article actually meet notable guidelines per WP:ANYBIO, because he has won a significant award, the Best Variety Streamer Award from the Streamer Awards? Not to mention the fact that he has millions of followers and subscribers? Please let me know. Antny08 (talk) 11:50, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It helps, but the Streamer Awards alone is not enough. We still need some references from reliable, independent outlets that contain significant coverage of the subject. Especially for a BLP, we need high quality sources, and none of the sources currently on the page, aside from ESI, are reliable. – Pbrks (t·c) 15:07, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Ohnoitsjamie. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Sites like "bioofceleb.com" do not come close to meeting WP:RS criteria. Hi Antny08, I didn't want to call this out in the AFD discussion, but I did want to take a second to try to give you a bit of friendly advice when dealing with these things. Your approach to trying to persuade other editors to change their feedback to be more in line with your own opinion in this case is not earning you any allies. You should make your case with a 'vote' in a concise manner that addresses the facts of the case. This isn't to say you shouldn't engage in discussion, but you're coming off as cajoling and combative rather than trying to build consensus. You should avoid writing long posts directed at whatever admin might adjudicate the case, and plopping them at the top of the discussion outside of your vote. Most importantly, however, you shouldn't threaten to quit editing if you don't get your way, or beg people to keep an article so that you might have a future as an admin. Frankly, that statement, that you don't want to have it deleted because it might negatively impact your future as an admin, is *much* worse than having an article you created put up for AfD and removed. It shows that you're not interested in making Wikipedia a better place, but rather focused on hat collecting, which would probably torpedo any chances you have of being granted admin rights in the near term. nf utvol (talk) 13:18, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry, I was just really stressed and I didn't know what to say. I do want to make Wikipedia a better place and that is why I want administrator so I can better help. I did not mean for it to come off like that. Antny08 (talk) 15:38, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

could you mention that in the deletion discussion? Antny08 (talk) 18:45, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
