Speedy deletion of Stick Figureology[edit]

A tag has been placed on Stick Figureology requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. szyslak 08:46, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged the article for speedy deletion because it does not say why this webcomic is notable. In the comments you made on the article's talk page, you tell us why you find this webcomic interesting, but you do not address the key issue of significance. Please show us why this webcomic is important. Anyone can publish a webcomic, just as anyone can start a personal website. This particular comic is only a month old. szyslak 09:00, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You may want to see WP:WEB for guidelines on acceptable Internet-related content on Wikipedia. szyslak 09:03, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, what really matters is assertion of significance. If the article you wrote said why the subject was significant, it wouldn't have been deleted. That's Wikipedia policy. More specifically it's criterion A7 in our criteria for speedy deletion. In terms of "what makes a subject notable", see Wikipedia:Notability, although the provisions of the notability guideline have little to do with the article that was deleted. szyslak 22:31, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The webcomic article Cigarro & Cerveja is, at best, of borderline notability, but it does assert significance, since the article mentions that the comic was once published in a college newspaper and now appears on its website. Since the article seems to fail WP:WEB, I'm nominating it for deletion through AFD. But it can't be speedied because it passes WP:CSD#A7. szyslak 05:39, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
