What's up[edit]

Hey man I know what you mean about school so I can't blame you on not being here for a while. As for the fair use BS what you need to do is put on the page of the pic is that this image can't be replaced by any otehr image and is neccesray to explain the content of the article. But be warned Wikipedia just redid their image policy so don't be surpirsed when you're asked to remove all of the images from the pages except the important ones.Sam ov the blue sand, Editor Review 21:28, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uni is kickin my ass at the moment so I haven't bothered to come on for a while. Not much in the way of vandalism needing to be cleaned up either so things have been pretty quiet for me in terms of Wiki. I can't be bothered to IP and RC patrol daily. Got things to do! LoL. Anyway, in all seriousness, I'll have a look into it later today. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ talk 14:27, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

666 Satan and Naruto[edit]

Hi. You seem to edit the 666 Satan page daily. I just read your recent edit summary here and then pondered something, was it just Dragon Ball that influenced the two Kishimoto brothers? I've read the manga Naruto and 666 Satan and saw references not only to Dragon Ball but to YuYu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin, well not much of the latter but you get the idea right? I couldn't find it but is there an online source or magazine issue/page that says that it was more than the influence of Dragon Ball, maybe also Saint Seiya perhaps? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 17:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was a question, with some comments added. I'd like to know that if there were more inspirations, what were they? Good luck in school! Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 17:28, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would assume so, tournaments are utilised a lot in manga and anime. Most appreciated, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:58, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: 666 Satan[edit]

The heavy amount of indenting is cumbersome to read and creates a great deal of unnecessary white space (example). And as I stated in my edit summary, there is little reason to give rank and effect of an O-Part when you provide a link to the same material. O-Part details even differ in some instances, as can be seen with the O-Part shown in the previous example. Aside from removing a few Zenom headers, that's as much of a "complete rewrite" as I did. ~SnapperTo 03:42, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting my edits because it seems like I removed a lot of content is an awful excuse. The exact same information is there, minus the needless O-Part details. Until you can express what you dislike about this version in words that don't amount to "the Wikipedia software tells me you removed a lot", you'll need to exercise good faith and assume there is nothing wrong. ~SnapperTo 03:59, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I fail to see how your version is going to be any different from my own. Unless you want large amounts of indenting and a repeat of information that can be found in List of O-Parts in 666 Satan, you are going to end up with the exact same product. ~SnapperTo 04:11, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What "justice"? Aside from images, you haven't pointed out anything I have removed that would be missed, nor have you made any indication that removing indents or O-Part stuff was bad. I am sorry that you take offense to someone removing things from the article you have worked on, but without telling me what you specifically dislike I can't be of much help to you. And does reading all 72 chapters of a manga with varying qualities in translations not entitle me to make constructive edits to its Wikipedia articles? ~SnapperTo 04:33, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

666 Satan FUR Template[edit]

Do you mean the text "WARNING: INVALID ARTICLE NAME (don't include brackets or other formatting in the name)" that appears in the title bar? That's a normal feature of the Template:Non-free fair use rationale which you've based your template on. If you fill in the name of the article when you use it, then it should appear fine. For example

{{666 Satan FUR|
Article = User talk:Ancientanubis|
Description = This is Ancientanubis's user talk page|
chapter = foo|
page = foo2|
Purpose = This is merely a test of the template|
other = To be deleted when development is finished|
}}

Appears as

{{666 Satan FUR|
Article = User talk:Ancientanubis|
Description = This is Ancientanubis's user talk page|
chapter = foo|
page = foo2|
Purpose = This is merely a test of the template|
other = To be deleted when development is finished|
}}

About 666 Satan charachter edit[edit]

i got it off of the French Wiki character profile page and translated it, and I can do it, it'll just take some time, cuz i have a limited French vocabulary. if you'd like, i'll try to continue to do so with the other characters when i can. i also just did jio's. i'll get to the other's asap

yeah, that's fine by me, i was just trying to get what was out there to be translated into english, but it's fine, if you want, we can leave those out it'll make it go a lot faster too —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.189.242.124 (talk) 00:38, 17 October 2007 (UTC) -[reply]

Though it's true that their artwork may have been influenced by Akira Toriyama, I highly doubt you could find or construct something this damning for Dragon Ball. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bbobjs (talkcontribs) 11:35, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So you want me to find a manga that has more in common with Dragon Ball than 666 Satan does? Cross Hunter is an extreme example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS8yAweZhNg Bbobjs 22:18, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
ZOMG!!! s4y d00d butt cld u "dumb it down" m30r 4 3y3? I'm sorry but I only understand things written in 1337 speak and inverse grammar. Now I've been trying to be civil about the whole thing but I suppose I can skip that facade now. I'm willing to concede one point to you:
  • When Jio first saw Jajamaru, he mistook him for Kirin. Similarly, Goku mistook Bubbles for North Kaiō. (This is by far the best point the section has)
As for the rest of it, guess what? I've already been over it, but they say "third time's a charm":
  • Other anime with hermits as trainers? Off hand how about InuYasha and Street Fighter V ep.6.
  • Weighted back packs aren't an original idea, weighted turtle shells... maybe. If Jio and Ball trained with weighted shells of some kind or like a weighted shield worn on the back then it would be valid but they don't, they wear backpacks with weighted stuff inside. The military uses this idea, sports teams use this idea, it is a VERY common idea used for training. Your associated talks of "Consensus," well check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weighted_clothing#Weighted_backpacks
    • You would also have a point if Jio and Ball delivered milk or something with the backpacks on.
  • Catching animals is also not an original idea; as I've already said the idea is used in Rocky II, released and grossed over $85 million 5 years before Dragon Ball even started, meaning the idea was already wide spread long before Dragon Ball ever touched it. If Jajamaru was a monkey or if they at least caught Jajamaru in a way that was similar to how Goku caught Bubbles then you might have a case, but they didn't and thus you don't.
  • As far an Snake Way goes, how about you prove that this path Jio and Ball traversed actually looks like Snake Way? What features about it are similar to Snake Way? Or again how about you pull up or construct one of thesewith side by side shots of both paths to show they're actually similar, because I don't see the similarity.
    • Let me go so far as to put this another way. This is a better argument than the current snake way point: The Kabbalah resembles Kami's Lookout BECAUSE they are both semi-spheres. (I'm really not asking for much here, a single valid point will do)
Now if Master Roshi and King Kai were the same person or if Master Roshi's personality was similar to Kirin's, that would punch a fairly large hole in my argument. Unless you can make a damn good counter argument as to why this section should stay, then I believe the only justifiable thing to do is remove it. Also, in case you plan on needing it, I'll not be so nice as to "dumb" my text down any further. Bbobjs 11:00, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"i hadn't forgotten about you (or your worthless argument), i just dont care...." what exactly happened to that? I was glad to have a perfectly good reason to not have to type at you anymore. First of all, even those this is a Red Herring, typing in all caps while calling someone else's mental state into question is ineffective. With that aside you wonder why I continue to make the same argument and that is because you continue to not address it and it seems to be that you can't even understand it. Making comments like "i will not dig through almost 75 chapters of a monthly manga just to prove to one guy who can not even make a worthy argument that he is wrong" and when what I said was "how about you prove that this path Jio and Ball traversed actually looks like Snake Way? What features about it are similar to Snake Way? Or..." make me fairly sure you're not even reading everything I type and probably won't even read this line. I gave you another option to prove to me that Snake Way and this path are similar; that option being list some features of the two path that make them similar, if they are actually similar it shouldn't be hard. Somehow you seemed to overlook this fact, more than once if I'm not mistaken, and I'm not sure if it's that you're oblivious or that you really think a Straw Man fallacy will actually work on me... which I suppose would also make you oblivious. "AND WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF SAYING "Master Roshi and King Kai were the same person" IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!!!" do you think I'm going to let misquoting me fly either? I said "...if Master Roshi and King Kai were the same person or if Master Roshi's personality was similar to Kirin's, that would punch a fairly large hole in my argument." IF, but it's not the case, so it doesn't. I feel that the implication of that statement is obvious but I guess I have to spell it out for you:

The way the points are currently set up, the actions of and events surrounding Master Roshi and King Kai are mixed. IF either Master Roshi or King Kai used both weighted back-gear and animal training then you would have one very strong argument but since they are two different people doing two different things you instead have two weak arguments. Because you have two weak arguments I don't need to disprove them both with a single argument but can instead pick them apart and use smaller arguments to disprove their validity. In the case of Master Roshi you have that he is a hermit-trainer and uses weighted back-gear for training. I don't need to prove that it's common to find both these features combined because I have shown that both these features are common and by your own policy common things, like both characters have spiky hair, should be removed. There are no unique features to bind these characters and there aren't enough common features to make a valid case for them being similar. For example IF Kirin used turtle shells instead of backpacks then you would have a unique feature they they share, or IF Kirin was also a pervert and bald then you would have enough common features to collaborate an argument that Kirin and Master Roshi are similar; however this is not the case because you only have two unoriginal features between them.

Now if you'd like to dispute the validity of my claims or logic then be my guest but so far you've done nothing but sidestep the issue (taking the optimistic outlook it's probably because for whatever reason you're unable to understand it, so hopefully this final clarification will do the job). If you feel that I've missed your point then please lay it out once again for me but only after you've addressed my points or even better while addressing my points. In the hopes of not wasting time, if your argument was that I must show you that there is another anime with all these features then I've already addressed that and my answer is that I don't have to because I can prove that all of those things are common and nothing that binds them is unique. If you can't understand my argument after that then please do me a favor and never type to me again, you'll just waste your time because I will not be responding. If you want to request clarification on a single point I will be willing to do that, but I don't think that'll happen. Finally if something seems to be missing from the above it's probably because it's on Evilgohan2's talk page so double check that first. Bbobjs 14:33, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
PS: In case it's not clear to you bullcrap like this, "i hadn't forgotten about you (or your worthless argument), i just dont care" only works when someone respects you, and if you go around flinging crap like that you will never have respect. Bbobjs 14:33, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Whoa, lets not get personal here. My plan was to bring in a moderator to solve the issue with the edits, not to solve personal attacks name calling. This goes for both of you. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ talk 17:33, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Bullshit[edit]

  • Pulling different sources from different places IS what makes an argument.
  • I suppose I didn't fully address:

    also, have you considered the fact that in certain sections at the end of narutos early chapters where he claims that both him and his brothers artwork was heavily influenced by Akira Toriyama's work.... check the ends of the first few volumes (or possibly chapters) to see what i mean... just some advice

    I did start to:

    Though it's true that their artwork may have been influenced by Akira Toriyama, I highly doubt you could find or construct something this damning for Dragon Ball.

    Admittedly I did create a Red Herring here and I had intended to comeback to that and fix the problem but then the argument was switched to this:

    if you really want to convince me then give me examples of other series to prove that the stuff we have shown is more common in series then it is claimed to be....

    So I went with that instead. It's not like I completely forgot about it, but it stopped coming up so I assumed you didn't want me to continue addressing it.
    • Even if their art style was influenced by dragon ball it does not prove that their art style is similar.
    • This only deals with similarities in art style of the two series and 4/5 of your points have nothing to do with artistic similarity. Additionally that one point is an unbacked claim. If they do have such an artistic similarity then it shouldn't be hard to at back that one claim with something.
  • "I'm not going to know all of your inside jokes just as you won't know mine." -Chris Benoit
    • See, I bet you don't understand that inside joke at all and it's unreasonable for me to say such things under the assumption that you'd understand it.
  • I understand that you've worked very hard to make this article what it is today but that doesn't mean you own it or are allowed any absolute authority over it. I'm not trying to destroy your hard work but I believe the section subtracts from the rest of the article. Bbobjs 10:11, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: my argument[edit]

Thank you, that does clear things up. Unfortunately I'm on my lunch break at the moment and don't have time to give you a proper/full response; however as soon as I get home (1am-ish PST) I'll go over what you've given me in detail and give you something that does justice your post. For now I'm going to have to leave it at:

Although I still disagree with a few points, I believe that much of what you've said is valid and strong but that it must be reflected by the page in order for the section to hold merit. I think that the section would also have to be reorganized to accurately reflect this.

Bbobjs 22:23, 14 November 2007 (UTC) Sorry this is a few hours late, anyway first off:[reply]

ok man, idk how much simpler i can make this so i guess im going to have to break this down even simpler then before, and no.... im sorry but i will not take hours upon hours upon hours out of my day compiling pictures from 666 Satans manga, and DBZs manga/anime... mainly because i have never read DB or DBZs manga nor do i own any of the series.... so please stop asking me to do so...

This is actually the FIRST time you've expressed an argument to me about the points in question. I only presented compiling pictures from the two manga as an alternative option to describing the similarities between Snake Way and "the path" with words; I never asked you to do it (at least from what I recall show me where I actually asked you to, not suggested that you, and I'll apologize). Also:

instead of saying (im just using names for the sake of having names, not saying they share these similarities), "well inuyasha has hermits, serpent roads and mistaking animals for trainers, as does D Gray Man and Bleach." you state that "inuyasha has hermits, D gray Man has serpent road and Bleach has mistaking animals for trainers"... due to you saying this i feel that it hurts your argument in the sense that you are only proving that certain series have little bits here and there in common instead of a wealth of similarities

The problem with what you suggested is that if 1 exists and has A, B, C and D; and if later 2 and 3 exist and both have A, B, C and D; then it only shows that 1, 2 and 3 are similar because I've only shown that A, B, C and D are things that all three numbers have. Now this would work if I could find several things that have all these in common because then I would start proving that these are things which define a genre of anime/manga; however that would be unreasonable and not required to prove my case. Why? Well going by the logic that has been established by the page, the fact that "there is a tournament" isn't good enough because having a tournament is far too common and I agree. What about hermit trainers though, aren't they just as common?

  • Naruto, Dragon Ball, 666 Satan, YuYu Hakusho, Inyusha and D.Gray-Man (even has two, Cross and Bookman) all have hermit trainers.

Now assuming that's enough to show that they're common, would adding another similarly common thing like "there is a tournament" help the argument at all? No. Thus if I can show that one point by itself is common it invalidates it. Again this is by extension of the rules that have already been set by the page. I know you disagree that hermit trainers are common to the same degree as a tournament story arc but consider the fallowing and give me some relatively popular examples of things with no hermit but a tournament arc:

  • Naruto, Dragon Ball, 666 Satan and YuYu Hakusho all have both of these things
  • Inyusha and D.Gray-Man have the hermit but no tournament.
  • Popular series like One Piece, Bleach and FMA have neither.

OK now with that out of the way I can get to the meat of this debate.

while Kirin and Roshi are both hermits, there similarities do not end at that. you could also look so far as to say that while some of there exercises and training techniques seem to be pointless at the time being, they do have importance in the long run

There are two problems here. The Karate Kid and Rocky series both have the idea of a hermit trainer using seemingly irrelevant tasks as a means of martial arts training. The point on the page doesn't accurately reflect this but I'll deal with reformatting at the end. Continuing:

...there is also the fact that backpacks/turtle shells share a some what striking similarity in appearance, and also due to the fact that they were required to wear them for almost (if not the) entire time.

I failed to see the similarity in appearance so I suppose this is an agree to disagree and move on kind of thing. Being forced to wear the weights at all times doesn't seem an uncommon thing to me but I have nothing valid to cite. Next point:

but they were also required to catch the animal before they really even considered training them

Good point, so why isn't it reflected on the page?

they are very similar due to the fact that both paths were the only way for the soon to be students to be able to get to the location that they would be trained at and also due to the fact that they were normally long winding paths that seemed to go on forever at first glance

So they're both the yellow brick road but with pitfalls on either side? Anyway if this point is going to be used that way it needs to be set differently on the page. Final Point:

why is it weakened?

Because instead of Kirin being the full parallel to one person, he's a semi parallel to two. It basically just makes formating harder. Here is a basic outline of what the formating should look vaguely like:

  • The way Roshi/Kai trains Goku is similar to the way Kirin trains Jio
    • Seemingly pointless/irrelevant tasks are used to boost fighting ability
      • Kai wouldn't even train Goku till he cought his pet. Karin wouldn't train Jio till he cought his pet.
      • Roshi and Kirin made use of weighted back-gear and forced it to be worn 24/7.
    • The paths Goku and Jio traverse to reach their respective masters share similar qualities; seemingly endless, winding, only choice for transit.
    • When Jio first saw Jajamaru, he mistook him for Kirin. Similarly, Goku mistook Bubbles for North Kaiō.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Shin(666Satan).jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shin(666Satan).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. RE:666 name change[edit]

Nah, it's a lost cause for now, since most of the other editors were interpreting the naming conventions differently than I was. I'm currently trying to start a discussion on exactly what some of the phrasing does mean, but I'm not particularly hopeful. One of the costs of collaborative projects is that sometimes your view will be the minority.

Also, whether VIZ changed the name for censorship reasons or not has as little to do with which name is better known (which is what the name guidelines are based on) as Sesshomaru's saying that scanlations are illegal did. (The guidelines are at WP:MOS-MANGA if you weren't aware.) --erachima formerly tjstrf 20:01, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Ancient class Julie.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ancient class Julie.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:05, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
