May 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page The Changeling (film) has been reverted.
Your edit here to The Changeling (film) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://anandjayakrishnan.blogspot.com) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 11:45, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to The Changeling (film). Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.--Atlan (talk) 11:10, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to The Changeling (film). It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Atlan (talk) 21:40, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at Palai, you may be blocked from editing. --Atlan (talk) 22:03, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Dvd cover for film.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Dvd cover for film.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 03:37, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Help Survey[edit]

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

Thank you for your time,

July 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Nair, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Sitush (talk) 13:15, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the link that Sitush gave above to our reliable source guideline. That website is not a reliable source. It's made by some group, based on unnamed sources, without any sort of evidence of a reputation for strong editorial oversight and fact-checking. In fact, the little information the website gives about the creators makes it appear that they are just a random social group, with no paticular authority.
However, even if we did establish them as an authority, that's not enough for a page about caste membership. For that, we actually need a direct reference from the person themselves verifying that they are in that caste/tribe/group. Without that, we cannot provide their names on a list like this. I'm sorry that this probably seems really strange, but Wikipedia places pretty strict requirements on what we write about living people, especially with issues as sensitive as this. So please don't re-add that information without much better sources. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:12, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
More generally, I notice a bigger problem with your editing. When you add something, and then someone reverts, don't just go and try to re-add it again. You did this not just at Nair (where 2 different people reverted you), but even at a movie page. If someone reverts, and gives a reason in an edit summary, please start a discussion on the article's talk page. Just trying to force your way is called edit warring, and can result in your account being blocked. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:17, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
