I'm not a great contributor neither in Spanish nor in Italian WP, and haven't more than 50 edints in all, but if VP is ever going to move to those wikis, I can do all the translations User:Argentino

Mieciu K Kosovo Vandalism

This confused individual has been putting words into my mouth and into others, first he claims war ended on July 11th, then he removes all other info, you have to leave it like it was when Chopper 64 was shot down and 2 american servicemen killed, I never said they were shot down but I gave my best and most accurate assumption what might have happened SINCE NATO NEVER CONFIRMED IT OR DENIED, and as time went by they just did not want tot alk about, what does that tell you? It's time Mieciu K is blocked forever from wikipedia, since his country, poland, was part of nato attacks and he wants to look invincible. So it's time you unprotect it, remember this guy is going out of normal conversaion and he uses non-sense logic, comparing other things to God knows what and then putting words into my mouth, clearly very ignorant, when he replies like... Speak English and when I ask about other things to be looked at, he can never answer because he just does not know it. As you can see, the best version is in the link below. Let's have this done right without vandals like Mieciu. He has time for these games and I am sure his answer will make sense but only to a point. Again, both versions must be explained, what might have happened.

EasyPizza

Now that EasyPizza has appeared on BBC news 24 and SKY news as well as appearing in the Evening Standard, Daily Mail, Times, and many other publications this issue of not being in the public interest and not being notable is a non issue. Now we can be sensible and post the EasyPizza page back up. Look at these links as examples [1][2] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.100.250.207 (talkcontribs) 03:10, June 22, 2006 (UTC)

Edit Counter Install

This tool sounds really useful but I have no idea how to install it! I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to any type of computer code apart from HTML :P

If someone could please give me instructions on my user_talk page I would be very grateful.

And sorry for double posting but no one seems to be visiting the Edit Counter page. --Tobes

Am I a Vandal?

Hey, man, Wikipedia is a collaborative encyclopedia, right. By collaborative, we mean that several minds contribute, right? If you read closely, my entries are neither slanderous, libelous or anything illegal. In fact, they are true. Want to debate on that? Please desist changing my changes, aight man?

== Community, State Setup-Mislead by Aministrators referring to Anaheim Hills Page ==

It seems like the authors of the following neighborhoods and towns' pages (not cities) liked the community, state format too. The so called "rules" stated by the admins stated communities had to be setup community, city, state, and towns had to be setup town, county, state. I am angered that the administrators brainwashed us into thinking that community, city, state was the only format to use. In fact, nearly 1,000 communities in the United States use the community, state setup. So, all of those polls in the past were swayed and unverified opinions of the administrators who told us that only cities were allowed to have city, state. I have listed several hundered communities that use the community, state format, far louder than 3 administrators who gave us inaccurate information about the community format. You should be ashamed. You need to unblock Anaheim Hills, California, because I have proved the point towards why you blocked it in the first place. I would not copy and paste it if it just stayed on the Anaheim Hills, California.

About "chiptunes"

I don't know what happened, but I did not in any way mean to delete that entry. My two latest edits were fully legit and I also posted on the discussion-page of "chiptunes" why I did them.

mistake

I have recently recived a message from you blocking me from editing Wikipedia, due to the vandalisation of the pages of Indonesia and South Africa. However, I have done no such thing and neither has anyone who used this PC. Please explain why this has happened as no one user of this IP adress has even visited these pages. Thank you.

Dear AmiDaniel !

Please look after this pages and understand my effort to know the truth.

You see the chroatian setlements from karpatian basin north west and south the volgar bolgars setled the south. They not foriners. They far brothers of us. They come from hunnia. University of Bedfordshire advertising

My name is Alfred Vella and you have kindly helped stop the University of Luton's staff from placing a very one sided advert under the entry 'University of Bedfordshire'. Unfortunately they returned and continued to censor the unpleasant facts about Luton which is the major in the University of Bedfordshire. DeMontfort is a large University that continues to exist independently. Its a small outpost in Bedford that is 'merging'. I know of many dishonest activities that Luton staff have done and they are conning students from developing countries to come and get their 'third rate' education (as the VC of a London College described it).

I believe that all of my postings are true and am prepared to say so in a signed affidavit. For more details please see the talk on the University of Luton.

Block of 70.50.54.65

Hi. i have this IP and i got a messenge on the user talk page stats that I have been block from editing wikipedia because of vandalism. I've never vandalized Wikipedia, and somehow, I am NOT blocked from editing it...I am confused...... 70.50.54.65 02:59, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

now i just noticed that the block messenge date is June 2...how come i just got the messenge today????

What basically happened is that a large spree of vandalism came from a rather wide range of IPs (namely 67.71.141.0/27 and 70.50.54.64/27) resulting in your being blocked and the message being left on your talk page. You're connected via Bell Canada, an ISP which connects all of its users dynamically through a wide range of IPs leaving us little ability to contact with and block individual users. Sorry for the inconvenience; however, to avoid being confused by similar messages in the future, you might consider registering for an account. AmiDaniel (talk) 18:01, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

You take all the fun out of life...

Sorry, that's my job =D. AmiDaniel (talk) 18:01, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eubot / Italian comuni

Hi, thnaks for your message. I have taken the freedom of unblocking myself; my IP was autoblocked. I've kept the block on User:Eubot, but I won't be editing from that account until things have been cleared up.

Now about the points you raised: Note that the first test run was 10 days ago. I admit that my test run now is much larger, but it is still a test run; I'm still checking all of the articles my bot is creating.

About free use of the data: Istat is credited on the article. If this is not sufficient, I will change it; but as I said on Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approvals: the istat website states "Dati ed analisi dell’Istituto nazionale di statistica possono essere scaricati, utilizzati e pubblicati a condizione di citarne la fonte." And in the U.S., these data are not copyrightable anyway. If there really would be a legal problem, it would be much larger than you think: the Italian, French, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Napolitan and Esperanto wikipedias all have thousands of articles based on the same data.

About the program: it's just filling in a template and posting it to wikipedia. The data I'm using come from the Italian wikipedia (it:Wikipedia:Data/Comuni, the same data as has been used on the other wikipedias), combined with a few files I received of the editors who did the bot runs on the Italian and Dutch wikipedias. Eugène van der Pijll 09:42, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, me again. I have received the final approval to run the bot, but I would like to hear more about the comments you had on attribution etc. Is there any way I can improve the text of the template that would take away your worries? Eugène van der Pijll 09:42, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your message. I will continue to add articles; if there are problems with (some of) the data, I will do my best to solve them; for example by doing a bot run on the created articles to remove the problematical data. Eugène van der Pijll 20:30, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof

Hi, I am Sylvia and I'd like to be part ofthe vandal proof. I just wanted to know what are the benefits? Do I get to protect pages? Thanks. --Sylvia 02:19, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof is just a piece of software that provides a few tools to simplify countervandalism work--having access to VP does not entitle you to any other administrative permissions, such as page protection. You can read more about it at WP:VPRF. AmiDaniel (talk) 17:53, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I put my name down on the awaiting approval list for VandalProof about five days ago, and it doesn't look like any moderators have checked the page since then. No rush, I was just checking in because it says to check back if you haven't heard anything after 24 hours. Thanks a lot. --דניאל ~ Danielrocks123 talk contribs Count 17:54, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal Proof Mod

Hey Ami. Long time, no talk. I haven't been on WP much in the past few months (and it looks like your usage dropped quite a bit too) and that trend will probably continue for the most part for the foreseeable future, so if you want to remove my status as a VP mod, feel free to do so. Although it hasn't happened yet, I wouldn't want someone to contact me and expect a reply as I wouldn't be of much help anyway. Thanks and see you around. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 06:21, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I've been quite preoccupied with other things (school, work, etc.) of late and haven't had nearly as much time for Wikipedia as I used to--I presume it's a similar situation for you. Anyway, if you no longer want to be a mod, it's not a problem at all to remove you, and if you ever wish to return, please let me know. Thank you so much for all of your help over these last months--it's much appreciated. AmiDaniel (talk) 17:51, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if you had seen my request for 1.3 + mod, so I will bring it up again (It is in the archives). Second, (just FYI) your header interferes with the "Redirected from" notice. Thirdly, I want to apologize for being so inactive lately, I will actually unable to edit at all for a while, sorry. Prodego talk 12:35, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalproof

I recently was approved for VandalProof, and I installed everything and stuff, but I'm confused on how it is actually run, like what do I click to start it. Could you please help me a little? Green caterpillar 13:35, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, when I click the VandalProof 120 Icon, it goes to a folder full of files and then wants to extract them, even though they have already been extracted. How can I fix this? Green caterpillar 01:42, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VP

I just updated my mirror for VP, and while doing that I realized why free repository is messing up downloads and you have to add .exe to fix it. The problem is that it is not sending a Content-Disposition header, so the browser has to guess the filename on its own.

I see the reason you use freerepository is to update the files on your own etc.. Well, I can make a php script that sends the correct header and copies the file at freerepository, so you can update it when you want and it will still work correctly.

Should I implement it? GeorgeMoney (talk) 05:09, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image licence tagging

Hello. I notice the screen shots you've uploaded of VP have been tagged as {{windows-software-screenshot}} which marks them as being used under fair use, but aren't you the copyright holder? If so, could you please update the licencing of the images in question to a free licence of your choice as per Wikipedia:Image use policy#User-created images. Regards, MartinRe 18:53, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He doesn't own the icon for VandalProof, or the graphical elements of WinXP. FU-WSS makes life easier, and anyone with half a mind can see the reasoning behind an exception to WP:FAIR. --Avillia (Avillia me!) 01:53, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
AmiDaniel, if it turns out that you are not the copyright holder as suggested above, this creates a different problem in that fair use images can only be used in article space Wikipedia:Fair use criteria #9. So when you next check your messages, can you please look into this and take one of the appropiate actions, i.e. either re-licence them under a free licence if you are the copyright holder, or unlink and delete the images as orphaned fair use, if you are not. I accused the wrong IP of vandalizing the page. Splitting article history

Hi, AmiDaniel, it's me, the Carrot deleter. :-/ Remember? This time I'm trying to figger how to divide a page history in two. The page is User:Prof02/Erich Heller. The prof has been allowed to keep this article, which he originally created in the mainspace, in his userspace ever since May, on the plea and intervention of highly respected User:Uppland. But I've had it with waiting for the prof to be ready to have it moved back, especially since he now declares he may need another four years of fiddling with it, without what he considers interference. So this is my problem: I want to move the last version edited by User:Charles Matthews on May 11, back to the mainspace, with all its history. And leave all the revisions after that in the professor's space. Then the prof can keep owning his version in his userspace forever more AFAIC. But... well, I can delete all the pre-May 11 revisions of his userpage, of course. And I can re-create them. But how can I re-create them *under a diffferent name*? The article in the mainspace should be called plain Erich Heller, like it used to. (Last heard of, it was a redirect to userspace. Yeah, it's a mess...) Please advise. Or, I just had a better idea: you do it! ;-) Best wishes, Bishonen | talk 17:05, 12 September 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Done. AmiDaniel (talk) 03:41, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, that's great! Bishonen | talk 04:05, 13 September 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Thank you!

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Galatasaray article

On the page of Galatasaray i saw a mistake but i cannot revert it becauce the page is under protection , in the Managerial area Yılmaz Gökdel was the manager in 1974-1975 season could you fix this?

Johnny200 21 September 2006 (UTC)

According to the talk page this is one of the issues of dispute. Please consider discussing the issue with other contributors and attaining consensus for this change. AmiDaniel (talk) 23:00, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thilo Savage and Ninja Pirate

Hi, I think you are a disgrace to the Wiki community. You deleted and protected Thilo Savage's Wiki entry. His site, NinjaPirate.com gets more traffic than Real Ultimate Power, yet they have a Wiki. What is your problem with Thilo? You are a jack ass, and should not have any authority on this site.

AndrewMDeusIavecchia 00:58, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thilo Savage

Why did you delete the Thilo thread? I don't understand, the guy is popular, he has thousands of unique viewers on his website and yet his page keeps on getting deleted. The article was well written with accurate information and no rude comments or anything, I just don't understand why you would delete it. Please put it back up again.

Tovarish roma 09:10, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article was deleted per consensus Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thilo Savage, as I'm sure you are already aware. If you disagree with the deletion then please seek a deletion review, although that is also unlikely to succeed. AmiDaniel (talk) 22:59, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw no valid reason on the page. The only one that had a real reason was the one that said >650,000 Alexa ranking, and that has been disproven. You still have no valid reason. This is abuse of your power. I think you should be stripped of your powers here.

VP

Hi. Just wanted to say I really like VandalProof. Could you tell me when version 1.3 will be available to download? --דניאל ~ Danielrocks123 talk contribs Count 00:05, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey.

IRC

In case you miss the memo I sent to you on IRC, I duplicate it here for you:

Hello. I have added you to the #wikipedia access list with a level of 10. To op yourself, go "/cs op #wikipedia". Don't abuse your ops (or play around with them), as we may take them away without warning. - Mark 12:46, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current version: 1.2.2 VandalProof 122.exe

This link for your download instructions does not save as an exe. Can be quite confusing. - RoyBoy 800 17:55, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note/hello

Just was looking through your log example for VandalProof and noticed that your 22.06.2006 03:34:13 revert on Jaisalmer turned out not to be vandalism. Anyway, VandalProof seems like it must be very helpful and I'm going to offer my name up for registration. Dekimasu 04:44, 30 September 2006 (UTC) [reply]

VP on hunwiki

Hi! I'm an administrator on the HUngarian Wikipedia, and we would like to use Vandal WonderProof on our wiki too. Could it be possible? We have 9 admins, but we cover the whole day (one admin in the USA, one in Asia), and about 100 contributor. NCurse work 20:42, 1 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Vandal Proof

A few weeks ago I was contacted that there was a glitch that prevented my, along with a few other user's, moderating powers from working. Has this been fixed yet? Cheers, --TBCTaLk?!? 08:50, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can't work with VandalProof

Hello,

In the last few days I was allowed to use VandalProof, and first tried to use it today. The program told me to download the latest update first. Then it kept saying that it couldn't verify me as a user, even though I was logged in using my browser (Mozilla). I may have initially capitalized my username Mllefifi instead of mllefifi; but I did make sure to use the latter, as that is normally how I log in to Wikipedia.

I altered my own page to test the program, but it wouldn't let me revert the edit. Please advise. Mademoiselle Fifi 19:20, 2 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Apologies (logged out)

Hi, I left my computer for a bit, and became logged out of Wikipedia but not VP. When I returned, I made about a half dozen reverts/warnings under an IP rather than my username. I hope this does not get anyone, either you or me, in trouble. Sincerely, --BostonMA 01:15, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
