@ Sitush

I have already provided the references and details of books that have ISBN. The references are authentic and verifiable. Both the authors have significant global acknowledgement. Jawahar Lal Nehru, author of his autobiography, being the first prime minister of India.

Kindly let me know what is your specific concern. Seems like you come up with a new reason every time I clarify the earlier reason for revertal. Being more specific will help.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The article List of Kauls has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

kaul is not a community.it is a surname of the kashmiri pandits.we already have a article list of kashmiri pandits.some of these names are there

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Kaul

I have reverted you again at Kaul. The sources that you provide are either too vague or not reliable - see WP:RS and WP:Citing sources for some help with these issues. In addition, we do not include scripts in the lead sections of India-related articles, and the list of notables that you included seemed mostly to be a breach of policies such as WP:BLP and WP:V. I think that if you read the various blue-linked items above then you may understand better how we function here. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 13:49, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

And now I have had to do it again. You were asked to discuss your contributions and you were specifically told, for example, that we do not use Indic scripts in the lead section. I think it best to make you aware of the general sanctions that apply to Indian caste/community articles. Please see the notice below. - Sitush (talk) 19:30, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page about social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties, related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions.

Hello, Ambar wiki. You have new messages at Abhijay's talk page.

Abhijay What did I do this time? 11:08, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

March 2012

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring, as you did at Kaul. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:02, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

You have added material, have had it contested and reverted, and then edit-warred to put it back again. You must not do that. Once your block expires you must discuss it on the article's Talk page and get a consensus supporting you before adding it again. If you continue to edit-war after your block has expired, you will be blocked for longer, or perhaps even topic-banned from editing the article in accordance with the notice shown above. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:05, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

PS: You might care to have a read of WP:BRD and follow its guidelines - you have Boldly added content, had it Reverted, and now you must Discuss before adding it again. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:08, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Based on the concerns raised by Sitush, I have already provided the ISBN for the reference books. Sitush's concern that the sources are not suitable is unjustified. Please refer ISBN and other linked wiki articles to my update on 'Kaul'. I feel that Sitush is targetting certain specific article types by certain specific groups and communities, & feel that this is vandalism. Look forward to your feedback. Pls take some time to personally look at my 'Kaul' update and provide your inputs.

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information.   An optimist on the run! 16:19, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This is not the place to continue your content dispute - the place to discuss that is on the article Talk page once you are unblocked. You are blocked because you edit-warred to insert your content after it had been disputed, and you must not do that *even if you are right*. What you must do to get unblocked is agree to not reinsert your new material until after you have discussed the reasons why it was removed (there are details on the Talk page, and it is not because you "did not provide an ISBN") and gained a consensus to reinsert it. If you agree to that, I'll be happy to unblock you - but be warned that if you continue to edit-war without addressing all of the concerns properly and getting a consensus, you will be quickly reblocked -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:15, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Oh, and you must also commit to follow WP:AGF and cease accusing other editors of vandalism -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:16, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Understand your view point Boing!
My concern remains that if certain sections of the article or certain smaller issues were a concern, only those relavant portions should/could have been deleted by Sitush, not the entire content that I created. For example, my quote of JawaharLal Nehru's autobiography (Toward Freedom) on his ancestor being a 'Kaul' from Kashmir, is both verifiable and a good source. However, fail to see the reason why that was removed by Sitush. To me still sounds like high headedness because perhaps Sitush got here before I did (wikipedia, I mean), & is in no way a fair method of communicating concerns.

Will look into his concerns and see what are the exact changes required. Offcourse have ample more sources to provide to support the article and can be discussed in detail. Feel that this article needs protection till I am able to slowly build a detailed version, which may take a few weeks.

It doesn't need protection, it just needs you to discuss the changes you wish to make on the Talk page, ideally one at a time, and engage in the discussion of the objections to them and get a consensus to add them (for example, what you say about JawaharLal Nehru's autobiography should be discussed over there). If you have reliable sources and your proposed content is in keeping with Wikipedia policies and community decisions, you should have no problems. Anyway, if you agree not to edit-war, but to discuss these changes first and get consensus, then please post another unblock request and I'll be happy to unblock you. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:50, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

REPLY to Boing! Zebedee _ Kaul Article related

From what I understand ... you'd like me to enter one point at a time and substantiate each one with relavant references and sources (I thought I already did that). Sounds reasonable and can work it out. However, have done some browsing on the wiki and feel that the restrictions on Indic scripts is an impractical request. Can enter that discussion also once unblocked. However, my issue with Sitush remains ... (& not restricted to the Jawahar Lal Nehru Autobiography incident).
MY CONCERNS
1. User Sitush says "Kaul is not a community but a Surname" - this is an incorrect statement and presumptive. Kauls are a community & a surname, which is a common phenomenon in India. (Kaul community includes several surnames and social orders, branching originally from the Kaul Clan. These are called Krams.)

'2. User Sitush questions the 'Notable Kauls' that I mentioned in the article, calling them of 'dubious merit & veracity. Strongly object to this statement, specially when it involves the first prime minister of India. I think we need an 'unconditional apology' here (or maybe we can skip the apologies). Mani Kaul (also mentioned on my Kaul Page), is a prominent Filmmaker in India, & has won several national level awards. For others like Kailas Nath (KN) Kaul (link also provided within Wiki), has 5 plant species and a 1 Genus named after his Surname Kaul. There are two globally known institutes named after KN Kaul, & I still wonder why Sitush says these are of Dubious Merit. All this, when specific articles about these well known Kauls are already available in Wikipedia

3. Sitush also mentions that "Dewans' book is a general guide to J&K & I am unsure of his qualifications". Well, Parvez Dewan is a IAS Officer (Indian Administrative Services Officer), a rank and posting equivalent to the secretary of state. He graduated from St Stephen's in New Delhi (one of India's premier colleges), & @ Cambridge was awarded the Jennings prize for highest marks in class (1987). He was the Divisional commissioner of Kashmir, India @ the time of writing the book being referred to. He was also an editor in several notable Indian newspapers - 'Hindustan Times' & 'Times of India' both of which are amongst the most circulated papers in India. He also extensively wrote in magazines like India Today & Stardust. His name and listing can be verified on the Goverment of India website http://persmin.nic.in/civillist/AsOnToday/AgeListCL.asp?Slab=8&Cadre=JK&AsOnDate=01/01/2010. Relavant ISBN & Publishing House information was provided.

4. He mentions "For issues with linking, please read WP:OVERLINK" - I was already aware of the overlink issue and am sure my article was not overlinked. So, what is the reason for this comment is not clear.

5. For the "no flags" rule, please see WP:MOSFLAG, &
For unacceptability of using a last name to determine caste, please consider WP:BLP, WP:V and WP:OR
--> Agree with his caste comments, & this could have been rectified with a mild edit from Sitush, changing the word "Sub caste" in my article to community/clan, or simply deleting it.

Deleting my complete article based on the above two points (& perhaps a few other minor ones), for which Sitush could have simply removed the relavant sections, is nothing less than vandalism. It is equivalent to destroying relavant information on Wiki without having the proper reason and ample knowledge or understanding of wiki policy (or its correct applicability in this case). Thats why I raised my concern.
Your expert comments pls .. Ambar 18:09, 9 March 2012 (UTC) @ Naradhiwas Road

No, sorry, you misunderstand. What I want you do to is agree to change your approach to editing as outlined below...
  1. Agree not to edit-war (see WP:Edit warring)
  2. Agree to seek consensus on the article Talk page before making any more changes (see WP:Consensus)
  3. Agree to stop accusing others of vandalism (see WP:Vandalism)
  4. Agree to assume good faith (see WP:Assume good faith)
  5. Agree not to adopt an adversarial attitude to other posters (see WP:BATTLEFIELD)
Once you agree to all of those conditions, you can be unblocked. Then after you are unblocked, you should discuss your desired changes *on the talk page of the article*, which is at Talk:Kaul. You need to discuss them with the other editors there, not with me here - I will take no part in the content discussion or consensus decision myself. If you agree to the 5 conditions above, post a new unblock request confirming so, and I (or someone else) will unblock you. Alternatively, you can wait until the block expires naturally and then discuss your proposed content at Talk:Kaul. But either way, if you fail to adhere to any of the above conditions, you will quickly be blocked again, for longer (and possibly indefinitely) -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:44, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

You have been asked repeatedly to discuss the material you wish to add to Kaul on the article Talk page and get a consensus for adding it *before* you do so. You have also been blocked once for edit-warring over that article. If you agree to stop what you are doing, discuss it on the Talk page, and wait for a consensus before adding material to the article again, I will be happy to unblock you -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 19:08, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
-- reply to Boing ! --
I have already discussed this matter on the talk page and changed the content that was contested. Pls explain 'wait for a consensus' ? What is the method of getting a consensus, is there a vote, or do I have to wait for some confirmation process to happen ? Its not clear. Ambar 01:36, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

While discussing it you also need to stop re-adding it, as that counts as edit-warring (see WP:EW). Consensus is arrived at by reasoning rather than by voting, and there is no formal confirmation (see WP:Consensus). Ideally, the editors in dispute will be able to reach an agreement based on Wikipedia policies. But if, after discussion, they cannot, they can ask for a 3rd party to evaluate the discussion and judge the consensus - perhaps by appeal to a relevant project noticeboard. The consensus would then be decided on the arguments made, and they would be weighted by support in Wikipedia policy. If that fails, the next thing to try would be to follow the dispute resolution steps at WP:DR. Best thing to do for now is discuss the points of disagreement at the article Talk page, try to resolve each point individually, and see how that goes. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:04, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

--reply to Boing!-- Let me try and add one point at a time & then see the response from the other user. Should work.

OK, sounds good - discussing one point at a time on the Talk page, and only editing the article when you have a consensus, would be a great way to do it. On those grounds, I have unblocked your account. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:05, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

A suggestion or two

Hi, I've had a chat with The Blade of the Northern Lights because I think that I am letting you down with my explanations at Talk:Kaul. We both think that you are well-intentioned and I am convinced that I am making a poor job of assisting you. Blade has suggested that perhaps you might benefit from some further guidance which, if offered by someone other than me, might make the issues more clear. We have a form of mentorship available that attracts people with a particular interest (and, hopefully, skills) in guiding newer contributors. I have certainly seen some people really benefit from it and go on to be good and productive editors. So, my two suggestions:

  1. Would you consider the scheme outlined at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user ? No-one is forcing you to do so but it might be of much help.
  2. Would it be ok if I move the "draft" that you posted a couple of hours ago at Talk:Kaul. I'd put it into your WP:Sandbox and it can be worked on there - you can invite anyone to view it, to comment on it etc (including any mentor) - and it would be a more suitable temporary home for your ideas than an article talk page. The Kaul article itself is not going to be deleted any time soon, despite its complete lack of sources. I will add a source or two later for the existing statements in order to ensure that, and the contents of your sandbox can be moved, copied or merged into it as appropriate when everyone is happy (including you!).

I'll add this page to my watchlist so that I'll see any response that you make here. - Sitush (talk) 17:24, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks. Lets start with the Sandbox (not too sure how that works though). Will put my ID up for adoption soon (have put a request on 'Wehwalts' talk page). Ambar 04:38, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

I have made a couple of initial suggestions on your sandbox talk page. I could fix things for you but doing it this way means that you will learn a few things, which is never a bad idea! - Sitush (talk) 10:24, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

Kashmiri Pandit article reformatted

Improvements required in Content, Flow & Formatting. I think this article is too inclined towards the history of Kashmir & how Kashmiri Pandits were forced to leave the valley. Feel that this article needs better balance, & that can be done only via a mjor reformatting and editing of content. I plan to create a draft in my sandbox area and would request users to have a look (maybe another day or so). We need to talk more specifically about the Kashmiri Pandit community, their specific history (& not the whole history of Kashmir), & their customs, music, literature, famous kings / rulers etc. A lot of content (irrelevant) would need removal and more relavant and sourced contect would need to be added. Signatures

Hello, Ambar. Wanted to get this off Sitush's pages since Sitush is feeling a bit fragile these days. Oh, I think if you look at the search bar for html colours or something as found in WP you'll find colour guides. You need those to choose colours you like. Then you must - sorry, this is all I know best to do - find an editor whose signature you like very much and note the html code that lays out that signature. You'll use that for 'inspiration'. Then you may lay out your sig and the colours you'll need. Remember not to simply copy another editor's unique colour or style layout; it'll come to you. Just be aware that you have to go to your preferences page, go down to the signature area and enter the complete HTML code you've got up for yourself. Also there is, I think, a 250-character limit there. Have a gander at my signature if you like, all you need to do is notice the html codes for editors' sigs when you go to edit a talk page. Good luck.—Djathinkimacowboy 17:02, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

I tried some changes in 'My Preference' page and managed to get the link to my talk page back in my signatures. Will try the color thing shortly. Much appreciate your feedback & thanks.'Ambar (talk) 05:44, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

I have finished reading the article in your sandbox. It looks good, we have already an article in Wikipedia Kashmiri Pandit, so, you don't need to create another article, add important information in that article. And yes, Kashmiri Pandit is a good topic! --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 15:25, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

TD, the sandboxed article exists because Ambar wiki was making changes to the "live" article that were problematic. IIRC, one specific problem was WP:SYNTHESIS. Ambar asked me to check out the sandbox version but I haven't got round to it yet - I am editing in spurts today, which is not my usual style. - Sitush (talk) 15:30, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Re:Can you review Kashmiri Pandit article Edits

Namaste User:Ambar wiki, thanks for your message on my talk page! Could you provide me with a link to the draft? I look forward to your response. With regards, AnupamTalk 06:00, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

I copyedited select parts of the article in your sandbox. The article looks good to me thus far, albeit I would recommend finding sources for the sections in which the "citation needed" tags stand. Are you a Kashmiri by the way? As you might know, I have created and improved articles on Kashmiri krams, such as Haksar. I look forward to your response. Rab Raakha, AnupamTalk 07:49, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
