Causality[edit]

You recently changed the entry on Causality, I have reverted your edits. There were three conditional statements listed there, with the truth values TT, FT, and FF. You changed the FT one to FF removing the exhaustive nature of the list. You probably were reading through them to quick and didn't notice the purpose of the list. Anyway, if you have any questions about this, drop me a line. best, --Kzollman 01:26, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your correction. I was reading through it a little too fast, and I could not comprehend it at that speed. Therefore, now, after I looked it over i saw where I erred. Thanks! Alvinrune 10:16, June 18, 2005 (EST)

Image Tagging Image:Preist.gif[edit]

File:Preist.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Preist.gif. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Please add a tag to let us know its copyright status. (If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know on the image description page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Otherwise, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Thanks so much. --TCC (talk) (contribs) 22:51, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Images in general[edit]

Hi! I notice that you've uploaded a number of images. Trouble is, none of them are tagged and many of them appear to be either scanned commercial images or lifted off another website (which itself may or may not have been using them lawfully.) It's very important to respect copyrights here at Wikipedia. More images are nice to have, but if they're being used improperly then it unfortunately makes more work for everyone else to police them.

So it would be a great help if you could go over all your uploaded images and either request deletion for those that are copyrighted, or apply appropriate tags to those that are not. And please be careful about Fair Use since that's actually not always correct when we'd like it to be. Have a look at the Image use policy so that you know what you're doing.

Civilization III[edit]

thx for your help in List of technologies in Civilization III... --User:Alvinrune 00:38, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. I hope I'm not honing in on your area, I'm just a school librarian with a lot of time on his hand who cannot beat that stupid game higher than warlord. Feel free to re edit anything you don't agree with. Czolgolz 06:16, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your AfD votes (My Cat Dillion)[edit]

I've attributed your vote myself this time... --BACbKA 08:57, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for voting for me for the deletion of My Cat Dillon. How do you vote? Alvinrune

I didn't "vote for you", all I did was going to the history tab, seeing that the vote was yours, and adding your user name there. You can sign your votes automatically (and it's also a good idea to sign any talk page messages you're leaving elsewhere, not just on the AfD pages). To insert your signature, use ~~~~ (four tildes in a row), they'll get auto-replaced with your user name and a date stamp. This is how I am going to sign the present message now: --> BACbKA 05:05, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Grapevine Snail.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. FPC voting[edit]

Hi Alvinrune,

I don't understand your WP:FPC voting style. You have contradicted yourself a few times, and I think it would be best if you figure out what you consider FP worthy, and apply those guidelines to all the pictures, in the same way.

  • Firstly, you opposed this photo for being insufficient resolution, yet support Image:Grapevine Snail.gif, when it is of lower resolution.
  • You have said that you "don't sit around admiring crabs", and this is why you opposed the crab images. Obviously this is subjective, but you supported the snail image! Do you sit around admiring snails? Also, I don't quite think this is a good reason to oppose. If you do not have an interest in something, that is no reason to oppose. If everyone opposed something because the subject does not interest them, then nothing would get through FPC. Generally if something does not interest me, I don't vote. With WP:FAC, I am not going to waste time reading up on a subject because it does not interest me. The same goes for FPC, If I do not have sufficient knowledge in something, then I may not notice a flaw. I don't do this with all photos, just the things that REALLY don't interest me. Like the mac image of FPC at the moment. If you are going to vote on something of which you have low interest, then please use some empathy. Pretend you are interested in crabs before you vote for a crab photo.
  • I just plain don't understand your comments for the Jupiter GIF.
  • Can you tell me what encyclopedic value the goats on the mountain has. I wouldn't have brought it up, but you opposed the suburbia image for lack of encyclopedic value, and it is the best depiction of suburbia I have ever seen.

If most of these votes were by themselves, I would have suspected that you have high standards (for the ones you opposed) or low standards (for the ones you supported), but when you put them all together, there is large contradictions. Thank you --liquidGhoul 03:37, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, liquidGhoul for the comment (taking into account the rarity of someone leaving a comment in my talk page. Now let me answer a couple of your questions.
Again, thank you for the comment and I guess I will consider your thought next time I vote. No hard feelings I hope, because you seem to have voted for every image except mine: F-15C. ;-)

Thank you,

Hey Alvirune,
Thank you for explaining your reasonings better. I think you just need to write your opposition description in the clearest way possible. Spend some time on it, and usually noone will have a problem with it. Most of those make sense now. I would like to add a few comments though. I still don't see the encyclopaedic value of the goats image. I agree, it is aesthetically pleasing. The problem with having it in goats, is that it does not depict goats well. It only shows their front, and they are slightly overexposed. Without the background, noone would support it. For illustrating mountain range I have seen better ways of depicting mountain ranges - usually without a distracting foreground. Thirdly, this is not shepherding at all, that involves sheep.
Oh, and you will not find that crab anywhere else, but wet sand. That is its exclusive habitat. It is alright though, I have accepted your opposition now, you don't find it stunning, and although I don't like that statement, I have used it myself :-). I don't know if I can vote on your F-15C image. I just have no idea what to vote. --liquidGhoul 22:07, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
liquidGhoul,

Thanks for the quick reply. I will keep in mind all of what you expressed to me. Oh yeah, you can just call me Alvin. I cleared up some of my comments in WP:FPC.

Thanks for that Statue of Liberty photo edit, a very intriguing and well-done update of my original photo. Cheers! --BigMac 23:41, 7 March 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Your snail FPC edit[edit]

File:Grapevine Snail.gif

I notice you uploaded an edited version of the snail FPC, Image:Grapevine Snail.gif. As this version wasn't promoted, it currently isn't being used in any articles. Would you like me to delete it as a redundant image, or would you prefer to keep it uploaded? Also, for still photos jpegs are the prefered file format. gifs are generally for animations. Raven4x4x 09:05, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I guess you can delete it. It was .GIF because it was a transparent image. I could have also made it an .PNG. But, the other image types (like .JPG, .JPEG) can't be transparent. You can delete it if you want. Thank you for notifying me. Alvinrune TALK 21:10, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
