RE: Managing a conflict of interest

Conflict of Interest policies does not prohibit persons from participation in the least. It does mean if I write an article about myself and you updated it with information I shouldn't go removing all your edits.

The Coral Island

I confirm that I share your personal classroom experience, in London in the mid-1960s; and at the age of 10 we did not read a simplified version. It is difficult to correct the misleading impression because it is quoting a cited reference: perhaps we should remove the citation and change it to "until the 1960s"?Jezza (talk) 18:16, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

Regarding deletion of SafePeak page on wikipedia

Hi AllyD, The SafePeak wiki page exists on the wikipedia for several years and provides a summary brief about the company and the technology that was developed there. Lately, the company entered into a technology IP acquisition with ScaleBase, which moved the focus from the corporate website to the acquirer. In addition, the company plans to have the safepeak website to be reinstalled, under a different domain, a process that is in place. I added many several links/references/citations of external sources about the company and its technology, and also made special attention to make sure there is no bias due to COI. Hopefully this will in line with Wikipedia's policies. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vladimirvex (talkcontribs) 12:38, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Citations for Verification

Hi AllyD, I appreciate your help. However, in the biographical article Jadranka Skorin-Kapov citations include official web pages from the university, not written by the subject of the article, they are about the subject. The two book references are wrtitten by the subject, but are published by independent respectable publishers and the text in the article refers to the text printed on the back covers of hte books. Would this be sufficient for establishing verification?Hatripet (talk) 22:33, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

  • Thanks. I agree about notability and the need for reliable 3rd party sources, but it seems that verification can be established based on the sources listed, so that there is one less issue with the article.Hatripet (talk) 13:12, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi AllyD,

We do ask your help to provide citation that I am a friend of Kristin Leachman and had been asked by her to place the information that she had provided on her site within a Wikipedia page for more of the world to see and know. I had also emailed her when the issue arose about the copyright item, and she had agreed that this was the information that she needed some help in placing on Wikipedia. I am not in this for fame or fortune, just to help out someone that did not understand (or want to understand how to use Wikipedia).

Thanks for your help, Tylerdigital (talk) 17:41, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you placed the "not English" template on ചക്കളത്തിപ്പോരാട്ടം but did not add it to Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English (WP:PNT). I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Amir Murad Tawas Kheil. I do not think that Amir Murad Tawas Kheil fits any of the speedy deletion criteria  because "from 2010 till 2015 he was Voice President of ANP in Dubai." is a claim of significance. I request that you consider not re-tagging Amir Murad Tawas Kheil for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 16:51, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Regarding speedy delete of Renchi Design

I am the webmaster of renchispace.com that content is mine...I thought it would be understood that someone who is writing about a renchi design philosophy would likely be either the owner of renchispace.com or an affiliate of the website which is home to the design philosophy but I guess that was missed.

anyways, please let me know the correct way to explain to you that I own the copyright to my own images, hency why I checked "these are my images" checkbox when I uploaded those images.

Deletion tag on Octane.in

I noticed you have put a deletion tag on my article. It only mentioned facts and nothing in praise of the company, but wikipedia deleted it again and again for reason like unambiguous advertising. I would be grateful to you if you could give suggestions regarding my Article.

  • My first suggestions are to (1) declare interest per WP:DISCLOSE and (2) to desist from removing speedy-deletion and COI tags. AllyD (talk) 08:59, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

TWL HighBeam check-in

Hello Wikipedia Library Users,

You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to HighBeam. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:

  • Make sure that you can still log in to your HighBeam account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information. When your access expires you can reapply at WP:HighBeam.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. For more information about citing this source, see Wikipedia:HighBeam/Citations
  • Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let us know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thank you. 20:34, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Regarding TWL mailing list subscription

Hi, thank you for your invaluable contributions to The Wikipedia Library as a coordinator. As you might know, it currently is a tough job to keep every coordinator updated on announcements, and to get in touch with fellow coordinators. We are beefing things up a notch for better communication among the coordinators of TWL. Flawless means of communication is crucial for the success of any team. Hence, we've decided it is essential for all coordinators (existing and new) to be subscribed to our mailing list wikipedia-library@lists.wikimedia.org. I've added your email ID (the one used for correspondence with TWL) to the subscription list of the mailing list. You are of course welcome to use a email ID of your preference unsubscribing this one. When subscribing, please make sure you include your Wikipedia username in the field "Your name (optional):" to help us keep track of subscriptions. Either way it is crucial that you are subscribed to the list.

You can change your preferences by logging into the interface here. You should have received a welcome mail which contains the password to access your account in the mailing list.

Please contact me (User:UY Scuti), or Jake (User:Ocaasi) or Nikkimaria (User:Nikkimaria) if you have any questions/concerns/issues. Regards—UY Scuti Talk 17:54, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Re-review my new page

Dear AllyD, you did review twice my creation of Impak Finance article. I since made a major upheaval of it in order to correct the flaws in it, yet I still am unsured if it would pass wikipedia's filter. Since you did put the page for AfD and none other than me commented on it, I felt the survival of the article may rely entirely on you.

I truly do wish to at least make it available so at least the open source nature of Wikipedia may join in it's contribution. I made the following corrections:

  • I indeed reviewed the self-promotion prose of the first article in the aim of making it truly neutral. I truly hope I succeeded.
  • I worked on the notability issue. I reattached the two references from canadian national medias, but this is the part that indeed does make me unsure about the article. While both are independent and notable, they are in french and they are, well, only two (I couldn't find a minimal number of references needed on the wikipedia notability rule page). This is the one that leaves me most uncomfortable, I truly hope the article may pass this filter.

So anyway, I rely on you about it. I hope the changes were good enough. Otherwise, it's okay, I saved a copy and will try again another day.

Thank you very much

You flagged my page and I need your help

Dear AllyD, you reviewed my article on Professee. You have raised 3 flags: 1- A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. I understand the first one to mean that you consider me too close to the subject of the article. Then who should write/edit the article to solve this issue? 2- The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for products and services. This topic is about an online game, how does it relate to the notability guidelines? Can you please give an example of what I have wrong? 3- This article relies too much on references to primary sources. Most of the info is from one source which is the portal of the game, but the information is true and referenced. How should this be changed?

I'd appreciate any and all help as I'm a first time Wikipedia contributor.

Please note that I changed around the number and content of references, and also reduced from external links. Is this enough to remove the tag "This article relies too much on references to primary sources."?

Seecosm (talk 14:05, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

  • No, the references need to be what other people have said, not what the Professee site or Facebook says about it. Only reliable 3rd party sources are suitable and can establish whether this product is notable. AllyD (talk) 14:07, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

She has helped a lot of women and men. The only reason she signed to be on the show the daily push is so she could reach a lot more people (since the show is worldwide) on cyberstalking. If I need to created my own account to clear up any confusion please let me know, bc I am writing his not her. Krisdegioia (talk) 19:11, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of SunTecIndia

Hi AllyD, Thanks for checking my first wikipedia article i.e. SunTecIndia. I noticed that you nominated it for speedly deletion and the reasons i can see are:

  1. 1: It does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant.
  2. 2: The article appears to be about an organization or company

Well, i completely agree with those highlighted stuffs and have also taken some actions by removing the text/content that were looking promotional or not standing for an encyclopedia information. I request you to please check that.

Also, as a newbie in creating a wiki article. I want to ask some questions from above mentioned two points and I will be glad if you can help me this this. Because, this will help me to improve my understanding and knowledge of Wikipedia.

Question #1: Is the subject is not important then why this company page is still present https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prodapt_Solutions. Because, as i can read this, i did not find any useful information and many things relates to the things i mentioned in my article. And, there are many pages like this. So, whats the secret ingredient for that

Question: #2: Yes! its ia bout an organization or company and there are again many pages in Wikipedia reffering to any company or organization page. And, i created this page so that community should know the history of an 17 years old IT firm, which will actually help them to understand more on the firm.

And, i guess almost all brand pages are meant for that, excepting the pages of Big Billioners MNCs. I hope you are getting my point.

Please let me know the answers of these two questions and also provide me the suggestions on how can i further improve my article. Because, i really want to become a valuable contributor on wiki and its my personal will and not doing it for any profits.

Looking for your kind support :)Mikewilsonn1 (talk) 07:45, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

  • This is an encyclopaedia not a Yellow Pages for companies, whether they have been operating for 1, 17 or 500 years. Existence is not encyclopaedic notability. I am seeing nothing to indicate that this is more than a firm going about its business. Regarding articles on other firms, feel free to nominate them for deletion if notability is not evident. Incidentally, what does this even mean: "Passionate about innovating and developing solutions with unique ability to think out of the box and intuitively grasp the evolving business needs."? Pure marketing methane. AllyD (talk) 09:09, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey AllyD, thanks for your feedbask and thanks a lot for notifying me the issues with that line, i have completely removed that. Secondly, i understand its not a Yellow Page platform, ofcourse! and i agree with your next point as well.

Alright, i am not asking you to remove the deletion nomination, rather if possible can you please send it to draft so that i can search for more useful information instead of just making it look like an promotional stuff for the organization.

Thank you!Mikewilsonn1 (talk) 09:33, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

  • You are free to reinstate it in Draft - as it was before you moved it back into mainspace with the same problems as in July. If you are going to pursue this, you need to read the WP:COMPANY notability guidelines. And if you have any affiliation with the company it must be disclosed. AllyD (talk) 09:37, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

July!! That's a long story AllyD. No i don't have any affiliations with this company. I just dont want to let my first article hanged in draft and thats why i scheduled a f2f interview with the CEO which took lot of efforts of mine, and you wont beleive i have a long document of the interview questions, but unfortunately i can't share the complete insights from that too, because it containt lots of promotional lines which i personally dont want to share on an encyclopedia platform, because i understant for what the platform is - Anyways, thanks a ton for your kind help. Could you please tell me from where i can put it in draft, i don't know that Mikewilsonn1 (talk) 10:09, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

But thanks for sharing WP:COMPANY, i am sure i can consider the things mentioned here.Mikewilsonn1 (talk) 10:12, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer

Hello AllyD. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as mark pages as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:30, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, AllyD. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

  • ? No point in unreviewing a blank page that has been tagged G7 and is heading for the exit. AllyD (talk) 19:54, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
G7 was wrong for this kind of page. Please be sure to use the correct criterion so that our statistics are accurate. You have been accorded the New Page Reviewer right which assumes you are familiar with WP:DELETION.. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:06, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
@Kudpung: my recollection is that the article author had at that point blanked the page so that it had zero content, hence the CSD G7. It was then deleted at 19:40, 22 November 2016 by User:RHaworth "G7: One author who has requested deletion or blanked the page – If you wish to retrieve it, please see WP:REFUND)", i.e. the same rationale. AllyD (talk) 21:33, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
My apologies. Yes, indeed, a review of the deleted material confirms that the creator blanked the page himself with the edit summary: Made page for joke, joke is done, deleting page. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 22:07, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello AllyD,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 814 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.
