Giovanni Bucaro-tagged for deletion

Dear user,

While I appreciate the conscientiousness on your part, I am still in the process of editing and creating this article which is involving translation from Italian to English. It would therefore be much more useful if you were to wait until I had finished the page and not provided a reference before you jump onto the article and start proposing its deletion. It is taking a lot of work to translate material from Italian and I therefore having to do this in stages. I only created the article a few hours ago, however, so I would appreciate a little flexibility before such assumptions as to its accuracy are made.

I have therefore removed the tag. If you are still unhappy with the article, I suggest consulting the references I have been forced to hurriedly provide-I am assuming you can read Italian? This is after all an article on an Italian footballer...if you still have any difficulties confirming my references, then Im sure you could apply your conscientiousness to Google Translate or towards finding a dictionary either of which may help you to decide whether the page is still fictitious or not, that is if you have a dictionary to hand?

Hey AllyD. I'm dropping you a note because you've been using the Page Curation suite recently - this is just to let you know that we've deployed the final version :). New Page Patrolling

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. I noticed you tagged Lino nicolosi for various maintenance issues but did not add a WP:BLPPROD template. • That was a very new page, i.e. 4 mins old; I don't like to shock the newcomer, so generally add the tags first, while they're still going to be active around the page, and give a bit of time where they can address the issue. If nothing happens after an hour or two, then fair enough, it goes to the BLP Prod. AllyD (talk) 22:42, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Not exactly sure what is required to improve notability and/or references. Made a few changes that I hope will address the issues. Can you tell me whether I'm more or less on the right track, or am I pissing in the wind ? --MarnixR (talk) 21:37, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

CSD#A7

A7 should not be applied to articles that're sourced (except sourced to the person/company's website or facebook page). I realise the wording is perhaps unclear, but the fundamental question is something like "Does the page give any indication the subject might pass WP:N?" - because if the answer is "no", there's not really any need for discussion. Article's that're sourced to plausible-looking sources already give such indication, and thus aren't eligible for A7. WilyD 07:10, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your comment on contesting the deletion for the Emil Kazaz article. I attached numerous reliable sources that mention his notability, awards, aacomplishment to the Armenian community. FAMILIA Notability guidelines

I added a bunch of references to FAMILIA (lay apostolate) after you pointed out that it may not meet the notability guidelines. I read them and I wasn't sure if it does now. Most of the added sources are parishes and dioceses that use FAMILIA so their independence could be question but given that it is all over, I hope that is enough to meet notability. Dear AllyD

I SENT THIS FOR INRORMATION

Mr. Roger

I like Egyptology . I discovered one of the most important discovery in religion in general. I discovered the original letter "L" in Egyptian Hieroglyph. The Alx. the great ruled Egypt then the Ptolemaic s who changed the original signs and added a lot . The Rosetta stone had three kinds of languages one of them was the modified Hieroglyph . The original letter sign " L " was lost.

As a matter of facts this discovery leaded me to the fact that :

Moses's Monotheism is exactly like Akhenaten's Monotheism

Moses was Egyptian Prince lived in the king's palace. He spoke the Ancient Egyptian Language . There is no Hebrew writing system in this time. The Sole Great GOD spoke to Moses by Ancient Egyptian language and of course wrought the ten commandments by the only known language writing system to Prince Moses. MANY OF THE HEBREW RELIGIOUS TERMS HAD ORIGINAL HIEROGLYPH BASES.

I think I am not the only one who know this fact. But the fanatic scientists hatted this and reacted accordingly .

I HOPE YOU RETURN BACK MY ARTICLES .

He has worked at UBC Canada in the nineties, AT IIT Delhi in eighties and between 1998 -2001. Presently he is at his home in Jaipur writing some of his recent books. He has a blog now at http://someitemshave.blogspot.com but I have not given that link not knowing if is acceptable to Wikipedia as a reliable source. so you will not find him there now. He also has a detailed profile on linkedin.com at http://www.linkedin.com/profile/edit?trk=hb_tab_pro_top

Attention

Dear Ally D: In regards to your decision concerning Agora Philosophical Forum: I feel that you have rushed the process and shouldnt have had deleted the page. The forum is a Persian speaking think tank abroad. It is amongst the very few public spaces where members of the Iranian community can express their views. It is led by a world renowned philosopher and has had numerous number of important thinkers (many of which DO have a wikipedia page) participate in its discussions. It is also known to people inside of Iran who are interested in learning about Political theory but cant act on this interest due to the government censor of what they deem as "western social sciences". Please kindly open the discussion so I can make my case. At this point I feel the deletion has been speedy and without a thorough examination. I can provide you with sources from the university and if needed have the dean of political science express his opinion about this issue. SO please let me know.

Speedy deletion declined: Tané Matsukata

Hello AllyD. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Tané Matsukata, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Declining for now with no prejudice against deletion. This school is one of the two main international schools in Tokyo and there is enough of a connection with other family members to mention. There is a JA.WP article for the same person. COI tags are valid, as are BLP and BLP1E comments and should be addressed, but not willing to speedy at this time. . Thank you.  7  09:42, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

November 2012

the particular reference was about systems Science. Reference to the particular school is being added

As for the notability criteria, this is a school at a university, much akin to University of Florida College of Medicine, School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, University of Manchester. These pages do not have a notability issue, because they are parts of top / major universities in their respective countries. Similarly, IITs are the best engineering institutes in India, hence they should be gauged similarly, without differentiating that India is a third world country, whose institutes might be relatively unheard of in international media for the very same reason, while those in developed countries like the United states and the United kingdom get coverage even for small activities due too the large number of media outlets, especially online media. release about a project undertaken by the school Thekingofviruses (talk) 12:40, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

  • There is no problem with articles from India's extensive reliable media if they can demonstrate that this is a notable Center in itself. However a press release is not an independent 3rd party source. AllyD (talk) 12:50, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Username cats

Hi and thanks for helping out with usernames. We're generally blocking all the new users with promotional usernames who create similarly named pages that get speedy-deleted. So, if you add the "User talk pages with conflict of interest notices" and "Wikipedia usernames with possible policy issues" cats to their talk page (as happens when the "I noticed that the username you have chosen" message is added), I'd appreciate it if you watchlist the talk page and remove the cats (by removing the relevant text, or with HotCat, which you can select in Preferences/Gadgets) after the user is blocked. Thanks. - Dank (push to talk) 21:44, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

Notability ??

The school is among the oldest colleges in India to offer Bachelors of Technology in Biotechnogy in 2001. The Biospectrum Magazine(Only peer reviwed biotech magazine in India) ranked it among the top schools. So, there should be no question on its notability, also during 3rd International Biotechnology Congress, The school represents itself independently with its Dept of Microbiology , without even mentioning the affiliated university name. See http://www.omicsonline.org/2155-952X/2155-952X-S1.020-107.pdf Neurofreak 11:56, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Agreed! But its who'll pass its independent notability? See http://www.omicsonline.org/2155-952X/2155-952X-S1.020-107.pdf See http://www.htcampus.com/college/jacob-school-biotechnology-bio-engineering-allahabad If these highly reliable 3rd party sources, aren't enough? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neurofreak (talkcontribs) 12:07, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

You must know why there was a redirect for this page? Very unreliable third party source(Mingleox.com) and college own webpage was there with almost nil information. Now, It has enough information with reliable references like(HT Campus), Times of India etc.. It's an engineering college in Uttar Pradesh which has 5 departments under it, has separate campus, staff, only its affiliation is under SHIATS. This article also qualifies several categories like Education in India in India. I'd like to draw your attention to this page WP:GOODFAITH which I'm rather surprised that you seem to be unaware of especially as it forms one of the WP:FIVEPILLARS of Wikipedia. I added Laravel precisely once about 2 days ago - the way Wikipedia is set up doesn't make it so intuitive to find out about deleted articles. Before that there was no activity after November 13. How this becomes 'a substantial history in a short time ... involving you' is beyond me. Macgroover (talk) 06:26, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Yes, and I'm assuming good faith by drawing your attention to the fact that other users have also been seeking to re-create an article on this software. AllyD (talk) 08:51, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Hardly with the tone that you used. If you want to suggest something to me simply do so rather than lumping me in with others who may have been doing these things as a long qualifier, and then posting such stuff on my talk page. If you want to point out to me as you say 'other people have been doing X' then say 'other people have been doing X'. 'You and other people have been doing X' is a not the same thing at all, especially when the implication is that X is bad. It's just bad manners. Macgroover (talk) 12:43, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Remark on the Gerdi Staelens page

I tried to add as much as possible information in a neutral way, useful for others. I did this also by comparing a large number of other articles about persons. Some information is not available on the web, reason: old paper newspapers. so I tried also to find extra references by doing some research to reference thrustworthy external sources. I hope the page(s) that I edited, trying to add extra information will be kept alive!

Sometimes I wonder if it is worth to add articles or contribute on wikipedia, while articles just get deleted while you spend a day or more adding information or searching references/articles. Referencing local or national newspapers don't seem to be a thrustworthy sources anymore when I see some edits or read comments.

I hope you have a great 2013. Kind regards JuFo (talk) 21:40, 30 December 2012 (UTC) JuFo (talk) 21:40, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of Focus Wine Cellars from Turkish Company Stubs

Hi Ally, Focus wine cellars was marked for speedy deletion and deleted yesterday from "Turkish Company Stubs" category for A7 (No indication of importance) . Under the same category, the following article was created in 2007 and it is still not deleted:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Termes_(olive_oil) "Termes Olive Oil and Food Co.Ltd., is an extra virgin olive oil producing company based in the Kızılcaova village of Bayındır, Izmir, Turkey. The company was founded in 2001 and produces mono-varietal extra virgin olive oils under the brand name Termes. The product is pure olive oil in its natural state. The process combines traditional methodology with contemporary concerns for food hygiene and nutrition. Though limited in terms of quantity, the production is packaged in various sizes for both local and international markets."

I cannot understand the difference between this one and "Focus wine cellars" entry in terms of "indication of importance" as indicated by A7. Could you be a little specific about what we are missing? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bumerangozkan (talkcontribs) 10:26, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of IMBM

Hi AllyD, you marked the above page for deletion and I am unsure as to why? You mention advertising but several (hundred) universities and institutes have pages on wikipedia stating what they are and what they do. With the page I created I was simply trying to do the same. We are a real institute (one of the top institutes in africa in fact) and I wish to tell the world about what we do and the people we help.

If you can tell me how to improve the page I'd be very grateful. I am a full time researcher at the IMBM and as such I rely on people like yourself to help me with the creation of these pages.

Kind regards,

Dr. Lucas Black

  • As someone associated with the organisation, you need to note WP:COI. As to the article itself, it was deleted on two grounds: firstly that it was worded to promote the subject and secondly that it was a WP:COPYVIO direct copy of the organisation's website. I disagree with the A7 tag: a credible claim of importance is made since the infobox claims the group owns a bunch of very notable publications, like TradeWinds (newspaper) and Upstream (newspaper). However, it turns out that NHST Media Group Asia is something of a hoax: the real owner is NHST Media Group. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 16:29, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

  • Well, yes, I had noticed the main group article covered the publications and this secondary article adds nothing to it - nor asserts why a distinct article is necessary or desirable. AllyD (talk)
    • As far as I'm concerned there is no NHST Asia, which is why I deleted it as a hoax. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 18:41, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Hello,

A page that you deleted for blatant advertising (see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:AllyD&diff=470577340&oldid=470528230 ) appears to have been recreated ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WorkBook_Software_A/S ) in its original form by the user who origininally made it, who also works for the company in question. Deletion of Karen Linder

Hi Ally. You put boxes on the article on Karen Linder. I will add more neutral sourcing, but I don't have the time to expand the article right now. She has written a book on the Women of Berkshire Hathaway, featuring key women business leaders within the company, but if that's not notable enough, pls let me know and I won't waste time trying to improve it. Thank you. Wanderingaroundaimlessly (talk) 16:46, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

I have added additional support to address notability concerns. She is a past president of a national U.S. association that sets standards for medical labs; while it isn't the most well-known association, given the importance of the issue (medical care delivery) that job alone should be considered notable. She is also co-founder of a three-state foundation that helps people, and has been in the mainstream news media re this. Mostly, she recently wrote a book analyzing corporate trends in America on women CEOs and board members. Let me know if you believe the changes address your concerns of notability. Second, I have also added additional sources, all of which are highly reliable. There is no question that the sources are reliable; so if it's ok I would like to remove that box at least. Let me know if you object. Thank you.Wanderingaroundaimlessly (talk) 13:32, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Gunday (Film)

Hello AllyD. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Gunday (Film), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article is not substantially the same as the deleted version. Review request

Could you take a second look at University of Edinburgh School of Economics? If it still needs more citations then a comment on the talk page giving some thoughts would help out. If the subject's notability seems acceptable, perhaps we could remove the tag. I have absolutely no connection to the university itself or anyone who ever attended or even saw it in real life, hence my knowledge of the subject is almost nonexistant; development of the article might be slow. MezzoMezzo (talk) 07:50, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

In the near future, I'd like to try the same with Edinburgh College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, University of Edinburgh School of Biomedical Sciences and University of Edinburgh School of Clinical Sciences and Community Health. MezzoMezzo (talk) 07:51, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
  • I had been going to send you a link on this: do you think this particular department (and others at Edinburgh Uni) meets Wikipedia:College_and_university_article_guidelines#Faculties_and_academic_colleges? A view that had been expressed in one discussion (which I could try to relocate) is that there needs to be clear evidence that a department is in the top half dozen or so in the world in its field. Department pages at various institutions have been at AfD recently and consistent application is desirable. That said, this is an awkward instance, given the longstanding role of economics at the institution, if not always under that department. AllyD (talk) 07:57, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
Now that is a good question. I'm really not so sure, and I was not aware of the default rule being that individual colleges are not notable. This might require a look at the school's rankings. In the event that it doesn't fulfill notability requirements, is there another home for the content which I put there this morning? I spent some time, it would be nice to put what I wrote to good use on some article (assuming the one in question isn't notable, we still need to be sure). • Their text is now just there as a reference; they could add it back in, but then the article would clearly be a matter of WP:COI. But as things stand, let's see how the endorsed Prod progresses. AllyD (talk) 16:06, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

I would like to know why are you marking the page as "promotional content". Where is the promotional content you are talking about? Inquiry: I see that a page I am working on was nominated for speedy deletion. I do not know why, please help me figure out what I did wrong. This company is not listed in Wikipedia and they are a publishing company that a lot of people research and ask questions about on publisher forums. I think it woul dbe good to have them in Wikipedia.

  • Existence is not the same as notability: see WP:CORPDEPTH for the notability criteria for companies. AllyD (talk)

I would think that company information is more notable than a mere product launch (one of the credible secondary resources). If I was to remove the basic company information and then add the individual product launch announcements would that allow the company to be included? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Publishingwiki (talkcontribs) 21:27, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

  • Product launch announcements are not reliable 3rd party source. Notability is demonstrated by what others say about a subject, not what people involved in a company/product say about it, either in an article (see WP:COI) or press releases. AllyD (talk) 21:31, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

This is the press release I used to gather the initial company information from. In fact I was initially flagged as plagiarism because I copied and pasted it from here. I believe this press release was written by the company though since it's contact person is the Vice President and co-owner of the company. Should I instead search out a press release not written by them, is that where my problem lies, because I did use a press release as my initial source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Publishingwiki (talkcontribs) 21:37, 22 May 2013 (UTC) http://www.sbwire.com/press-releases/descendant-helps-teens-discover-hidden-talents-inherited-from-ancestors-255173.htm — Preceding unsigned comment added by Publishingwiki (talkcontribs) 21:40, 22 May 2013 (UTC) --Publishingwiki (talk) 21:43, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

  • Press releases are by their nature written by a company or by someone acting on their behalf. What is needed is independent, reliably-sourced articles about the subject of an article. In the case of a publisher or a gallery this is often not easy: I have seen articles about what I regard as notable ventures deleted because suitable sources cannot be found. But anyway, press releases are not sufficient. AllyD (talk) 21:45, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, I don't want the company on bad enough to figure this out, I guess. Too much work to get them listed! I just thought it would be nice to refer authors to an independent site, but I will just refer them to the company. Is there a place where we can request writers, who know how to use Wikipedia to add specific companies? --Publishingwiki (talk) 21:49, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
