I started rewriting it, but decided it was too permeated by copyvio from his web page, and almost certainly from other sources. Although the copyright holder can in principle give a free license for the material according to the exact procedure at WP:DCM, this is not advised. The material is usually unsuitable, and in any case it is much simpler to rewrite.

This is not a suitable encyclopedia article for a biography of a living person. It's much too subjective, and uses unsourced adjectives of praise and quality. The article can not be accepted without specific sources to verify the facts--see WP:RS and WP:REFBEGIN. Rewrite objectively, documenting from references providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources, not press releases or mere announcements. Copyright and other matters

"Copyright © 2014 The President and Fellows of Harvard College. All rights reserved" is what it says on the bottom of the source page. I fail to see how you can claim that the material is not copyright in view of this notice. The reason for our concerns about copyright is that Wikipedia is licensed for free use by anyone anywhere subject only to acknowledgement of Wikipedia as a source. This is under Creative Commons CC-BY-SA 3.0 and the GFDL. Copyright text is not so licensed, and any attempt by others to use it under our license would violate the copyright at your end. Enter lawyers stage left... You say it is sad that Wikipedia didn't put up an article. Possibly. Probably most of our regular content creators (who are all volunteers and who operate in areas that interest them) had never heard of the chap. I hadn't. We rely on people who have heard of something or someone to put up articles. While we have editors who have created thousands of (mostly very small) articles, a large part of our somewhere around five million articles is by people who create an article and then vanish again. In case you think we're being hard on you - there are necessary rules that have to be followed. We could impose an entry examination on new editors - but that would only increase the work load and decrease the flow of new editors. Many don't fall foul of any problems. You did... BTW you could do to read WP:RS as most of your references appear to be not independent (or not about the subject - Medoff for one).
