Welcome!

Hello, Ais523, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Adambiswanger1 17:04, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

I've come across a Featured Image vote at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Wild Flower, and there seems to be much sockpuppeting going on (several users were signing as each other, and then reverting for the correctly signed user to add the same comment!). I placed notification messages on the page that the votes may not be valid (they were reverted), and warned one of the users. I'm not sure what, if anything, to do next. ais523 17:00, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

This is kind of beyond the scope of helpme, but the only suggestion I could make is to cast a vote and make a sockpuppetry mention in your comment and hope the vote is left alone. I see the user has already deleted two sockpuppet votes. -Dawson 17:28, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Reply to your message regarding the Omen

There is a reason I changed links. I created the original differences page but today I realised I put the title as 0men rather than Omen so I changed it to make it more accurate. I then transferred the information (which I had put on there) and pasted on the link and deleted it all from the original. I dont know how to do move links yet or do redirected links so if you could do it for me, that would be good

I'm sorry for the inconvenience

Helen xxxxx

Cheers :-)

Thanks for the help. I had no idea I was messing up. I am still getting used to Wikipedia and editing and the last thing I want to do is cause hassle. Ecco1983 13:15, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Ecco1983

The Omen/0men

Thanks, I didn't catch that. Shouldn't the speedy deletion message be on the Differences between film versions of The 0men and not on Differences between film versions of The Omen? I will revert the redirect so that 0men redirects to Omen and not the other way around, but I think 0men should be deleted.

Now you are confusing me. Be specific on which page has to be moved where and I'll do it myself. Bernalj90 17:00, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks so much for sorting out the mess I made. Many apologies for the inconvenience I have caused Ecco1983 17:40, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

No excuse I know but I've had a crap day and looking on Wikipedia I found today that MisterHand deleted almost everything I'd written for part of the artcile on the Doctor Who article Torchwood. I don't mind people correcting grammar and stuff but it really gets to me when people have a go at work I've put some effort into. Up until today I've never vandalised an article on Wikipedia and I promise that I'll not do it again. Grovelling as much as possible 86.132.87.222. RSVP if you can please.

Thankyou for apologizing for your vandalism. As long as you don't vandalise again, it is probable that no further action will be taken. (Your userpage will continue to contain the warning; user's histories are taken into account when deciding the punishment for further vandalism, and warnings should not be removed.) Everyone makes mistakes.
Note also that your IP address seems to be constantly changing, which makes it hard to hold a conversation. Consider getting a username so that conversations can be kept in one place. (This reply will be copied to my User Talk page to increase the chance that you see it.) When you made the RSVP request, you were User:86.143.148.56. --ais523 16:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

TfD

I have done so, thanks :-). PS: the rest after this sentence is my crazily long signature, which I just finished compiling (lol): Your one true god is David P. A. Hunter, esq. III

The following userboxes are part of the signature of User:Hunterd, and the opinions expressed there are his, rather than those of User:ais523.

This user is annoyed by Law and Order.
' This user is a Prior of The Ori, and was present at the Battle For Kallana.
This user is an F-302 pilot.
This user cannot stand Big Brother.

I have to agree with the sentiments of the above user (albeit without such a long signature!) – thank you for assistance in TfD. --Adamjhepton 18:58, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for the help with signing my name. GrasslandT 15:11, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Welcome messages

Just thought I would tell you that messages go on the discussion page for a user unless specifically noted by them. You left two messages on User:Gla86. Contact me if you have any questions. --WillMak050389 16:10, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Oh, that's ok. I just wanted to make sure you knew. Well, I hope you have a good day then. --WillMak050389 16:14, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: WP:NCR userbox

Thanks for pointing out the "includeonly" thing with the WP:NCR userbox. I think I subst-ed the template instead of actually including it, since there's been a lot of debate about using templates for userboxes unless they're actually encyclopedic. I didn't notice the includeonly thing, though. Happy WP:NCR patrolling! --Elkman 15:00, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Reply to your copyvio / AfD tip

Thanks! I didn't know that. I'll go ahead and add the copyvio notice and blank the page (leaving the AfD tag as you suggest). I'm travelling today – actually at the airport now – editing Wikipedia over WiFi :-) It'll probably be Wednesday before I can take care of this. Thanks for the help, sometimes I still feel like a newbie. Brian 10:23, 3 July 2006 (UTC)btball

Tornavalanche qualifies for WP:BAND because they have members of notable bands and have a record out with a notable band. Sources and info to come shortly, I had a bunch written but you just wasted my time.. when i tried to save the page, you had already inserted you speedy deletion, i hope you feel happy happy happy happy and happy. ALSO PLEASE CREATE A USER PROFILE... (Xsxex 13:08, 3 July 2006 (UTC))

word, im working on it.. now im also working on responding to this.. QUITE INEFFICIENT.. much WASTED TIME... wikipedia, we need a better way to do this. (Xsxex 13:13, 3 July 2006 (UTC))

Ok – thanks for the tips. would anyone be able to edit User:Xsxex/draft??? or just me? hmmm.. yeah i could always just write them separately and and save them at home? I guess at this point im just extraordinarily frustrated right now. here's why. it is such a shame that people dont actually do some research themselves about a topic ESPECIALLY IN THE CATEGORY OF MUSIC/ARTS/ETC... where there are rapid developments and new bands/movies/tvshows/plays/etc..etc.. being created all the time. We should have a new system where instead of deleting an article (which is just a waste of a persons work), the potential deleter instead actually does some independent research of their own, (on the internet?), and sees if indeed there is any information about that subject (in this case a music group) then that person could report that information on the Talk Page, which would slowly grown with this information (hopefully including references, i.e. links to websites) then the person who started the article actually feels validated, and the person who would have just pop on a "speedy delete" actually learned something (or maybe not if there is no information, which in that case they can say that there was no information found about said topic when they looked .. it would be good to include where and how long they searched). This would help the creation of new pages and also add to the joint editing and collaboration, instead of just deleting new pages which seem to not have much on them. doesnt it get boring posting speedys on new pages.. what a waste of time. Xsxex 15:08, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

okay i can see what your saying, but you really didnt respond to most of what i wrote which was a call for the "delete-ers" to research it before it is deleted (especially when it is an arts related article.) furthermore this would be something i would actually enjoy doing and i would imagine other people would too.. to get to do independent research and see what a person is trying to get at. Here's an example: List of Screamo groups now it does say to get rid of the Red Link (at the top of the page) but certainly some of those bands are notable enough to make an article about. How can the wikipedia community respond to this? Currently, it seems as if the whole list may be in jeopardy, where as in reality, the editors COULD step up to the plate and investigate it for themselves. For the most part, I was attracted to wikipedia because it had information which i had not known about and for the most part it seemed to be verifiable and for the most part reliable. But where is the line drawn (between notable and non-notable)??? My response would be that each article be given this "research treatment" instead of "speedy deletion." Xsxex 19:25, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Cheers for sorting out the article. It looks/works much better now. Oh and btw I'm the ip address you told the thing about the external links to (just forgot to sign in!). So thanks again, and i now know even more about making articles look good and work well. Badeggbill 18:39, 3 July 2006 (BST)

I caught that in BJAODN... that would have been so cool to have been a part of. :-) Netscott 11:22, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

User page

You know, you could have just removed the vandalism and started your user page from scratch! :-D Iolakana|T 15:17, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

At the moment, I prefer not to have a user page; when my sig becomes a bluelink, I know I've been vandalised. Thanks for deleting it. --ais523 15:19, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

About Template:Title

Yeah, your coding thing sounds fine. SushiGeek 15:59, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

template:title

hi. I see that you'v been involved with the recent work on the new template:title replacement. how's it going? I checked out your latest version. (like just this hour) and it still looks kinda weird. especially if you highlight the text. this can be a delicate question, but do you know why it got deleted? I read the discussion and I don't understand. I will check back periodically to see if the new version works, but I'm dubious. McKzzFizzer 17:19, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

The Politicizer listed for deletion

An article that you have been involved in editing, The Politicizer, has been listed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Politicizer. Please look there to see why this is, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

TheJC (TalkContribsCount) 22:04, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Actually, my only edit was adding {{subst:prod}}, so I'm more interested in it being deleted ;-) --ais523 07:03, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
I did notice, but thought you'd be interested in the discussion anyway. :) TheJC (TalkContribsCount) 18:18, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Fixed redirect

Thanks for cleaning up after me! I got an edit conflict when I tried to change it.  :-) That was fast. Neier 14:11, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

thanks homey

that version (template:title) you pointed me to is perfect for my browser & default skin or whatever. all the later versions were just pissing me off. thanks. kzz* 18:10, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Prod/AfD

Thanks for notifying me of the Prod/AfD conflict on Peloponnesians (Greek). Sorry I hadn't noticed there was the old Prod from two months back. I think that was about an entirely different form of the article though. But you're probably right as to the letter of the law here. :-) Fut.Perf. 13:05, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Tagging

Point taken: that particular editor added 3 or 4 equally fatuous and very similar articles; I tagged them correctly, but got fed up by the time I got to the last one, hence the omission. I did not know the template; thank you for that.--Anthony.bradbury 19:40, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

my sig

  • thanks alot for you help in trying to sort out my sig dilemma. however, i copied and paste the code you left for me into my prefrences and the sig still doesnt come out properly. is there anything i should change if i want to have the sig in my prefrences? and should i just give up and make a simpler sig if this doesnt work? --User: (chubbstar)17:28, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Question on Condiments

I am a relatively unskilled vandalchaser here on wikipedia, and I saw you put add to an article something like "Please salt this article." What, per se, does that mean, and in what context is it used? Niki Whimbrel 15:47, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Oh, I see. Thanks very much. Niki Whimbrel 15:52, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

They are just agreeing with you to delete it because they are a load of wikipedia nerds that u persuaded to join on yer campaign to destroy decent articles that I make. Its the truth. Atlas Service Corps

Thanks ais523. I was just reading about copyvio when I got your message. None of my content was copyrighted. Atlas Service Corps did put similar information about itself on the Omidiyar network page which is the one wmarsh cites, but that doesn't mean it is copyrighted. I had just made the page at 11pm the night before he deleted it. I feel like Wmarsh deleted it before I had time to finish editing it and without properly looking into the copyright issue. What's the next step? I left him a message on his talk page. Will he look into, see that he was wrong and undelete it? I am new to this so I don't want to do anything that is in violation of the rules. Thanks.- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AtlasServiceCorps (talkcontribs) 16:12, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
