monument link
I see where you are going there, but given the sentence structure, I would expect the link to go to the individual: "...and includes monuments to..." and then states names, only one of which is linked to a monument. I'd recommend rephrasing and linking them all to the monuments or leave as is. See Wikipedia:LINK#Piped_links under Intuitiveness for more details. — BQZip01 — talk 13:58, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

USMA alum
Glad to have you help on this. The large sections like MOH will be sublisted. We leave 5 as a sample and will then start the sublist. - Understand. Foley and Bucha are both well known, especially since they are the last two living USMA MOH awardees. MacArthur and Wainwright would be more famous that Titus, Nininger, or Robinson. I hadn't given it much thought about narrowing the list to 5. Let me think it over some more. Every USMA MOH awardee has a large plaque with their citation inscribed on it here at the academy. They are placed at various places around campus. It might take me a while to track down all 74 of them, but I could probably do it. - I'm class of 1998. The plaques I was referring to look like this one, which was MacArthur's. Do you think there would be any value added to photograph all of them and somehow include them with each reference?
- I think it'd cause spacing problems to include them in every ref as there is not much to say about some of these guys. The older MOH citations tending to only have one or two sentences. Maybe putting it in a few of them where there is lots to say, like Mac, and/or can you add something to the lead about the fact that WP has these and then we can find a spot for the pic of Mac's plaque. — Rlevse • Talk • 15:04, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- Agree on the spacing issue. The plaques quote the official MOH citation only besides the Officer's name and class year, so some of the Civil War and Indian War awardees are pretty short. The plaques are spread out all over post, with some in academic buildings, some in the mess hall, some in the barracks. It actually might be neat to try to track them all down and photo every one of them. Hmmm, sounds like a new hobby coming on... Ahodges7 talk 01:17, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Find a grad problem
I got a "friends" account at the online WPAOG so I could verify graduates (like the Gilchrist dude who was a dropout and became Gov of FL but many sources say he's a grad, but he's not) but it has a problem. It only goes back to WWII or so. Is it not complete of limited to living people? - "Just go to: http://www.library.usma.edu/archives/special.asp and expand the Biographical Register section. There you will find that each volume (the first covered over 50 years of graduates and the remainder cover 10 years each) has a name index at the end that can provide the “Cullum Number,” order of merit sequence of graduation to access the appropriate file. I think that beats Navy by miles. You won’t, however, find non-graduates, like Gilchrist in there, but it may help with research on others." From a guy at AOG. MOH Count
SOurces say there are 74 MOH alum, but I'm counting 81 (see our USMA MOH list). Even throwing out the nongrads (4 I think) there are still more than 74. — Rlevse • Talk • 18:57, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- Honestly, I've never tried to count them. Not sure where the disconnect is since there haven't been any new awardees since Vietnam. I believe that Versace was awarded his many years later, and perhaps others were in the same manner after the 74 number was published or became well-known. Ahodges7 talk 18:30, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Versace received his posthumously in 2002, so perhaps the # of 74, which had stood since Bucha's award during Vietnam, has become the number oft quoted, but now incorrect? - Looks good to me. I'm glad you listed them all out and categorized them. USMA is pretty big on graduating, so I suspect the 74 number would not include non-grads. - Nothing wrong with Wilby, but he wasn't someone who stood out to me as being famous or having made major contributions to the Academy. Feel free to put it back in. As with most former Supes, he does have a street named after him here. Maybe my screen resolution is different than yours, but on my screen, I was running out of space and he didn't make my list. Barron

- That's because he never really was the Supe. I did a little deeper digging. Here's the timeline according to Ambrose (1966) and Crackle (2002):
- June 1803: Williams resigns over a dispute between himself and the artillery cdr at WP over who has command of the post
- June 1803-April 1805: Superintendency falls to the next Engineer in seniority, MAJ Decius Wadsworth, who is often away supervising engineering projects on the eastern seaboard. Because of his absence, the next senior officer, CPT Barron, mathematics instructor, is in charge. A bachelor, he apparently allows mutliple prostitues to live with him under the cover of being "house servants".
- Feb 1805: Wadsworth reposted to New Orleans, academy is Supe-less
- April 1805: Williams returns as Supe, but is often away of the next few years, just as Wadsworth was, so Baron continues to run the place.
- Jan 1807: Baron is finally brought up on charges of deriliction of duty and neglect of the academy and chooses to resign. Williams begins to spend more time at the post to shape it up.
So I guess we need to ammend the Supe list to have Decius Wadsworth as Supe from 1803-1805 and remove barron. The Crackle reference (Bicentenial History of West Point) is found on p 60-66 and Ambrose (Duty, Honor, Country) is p28-29. Ahodges7 talk 12:35, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

commons:File:Emory J. Pike.png is not your work. It is not your work because you uploaded it or scanned it out of a book. It is a work of the photographer. In the case of Pike's photo, it's PD because it was published before 1923 and also PD because it's a US Gov photo. I've changed the tag to the US GOV one. You need to change the source to the URL you copied it from (preferably a WP one) or book you scanned it from, etc. Do likewise on the other photos you uploaded. - OK, how's my update? I seem to get myself in trouble with photos. I don't know if you recall the big dispute that occured over several of the photos during the USMA FA candidacy. Monobook
Every user has a page in their userspace called a monobook. It has to be username/monobook.js and is a place to store javascripts that are wiki plugins. I've added several scripts from my monobook to yours: User:Ahodges7/monobook.js. Set a watch on that page. You'll start seeing new options in places, like a peerreview script when in edit mode, popups when you mouse over certain things and now in the toolbox on the left navpane a "page size" option. MOH lists
Looks like your two DYK noms are going to make it. Another thing you may want to do is, as you make the new articles, make sure the file name matches what the main MOH list, such as List_of_Medal_of_Honor_recipients_for_the_Indian_Wars, is pointing to. For example, if you name the article John Doe Smith and the MOH list points to John D. Smith, it'd still be a redlink. I've set up your first talk archive, you can make it go further than Feb if you want. My archives are about 300K each. I like this sytems because you can archive them when you want and set them up however you want and it's easy to make the next archive page. - Good catch. I misread the source. I've reworded, it now reads: "He spent his early school years in Jacksonville and Springfield before graduating from West Point in 1867. - Tag as you wish, but respectfully, the entire entry is not cut and pasted, though some is. Admittedly, nearly the entire page's information comes from one source because I simply have not had a chance to modify and augment with more sources. For whatever reason, there is little on the web that I can find about this individual despite his prolific career as an army officer. If you noticed, I annotated on my initial edit when I started the article that I was going to the USMA library today to acquire his published work to get more information for this article.
