ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Zach Panning[edit]

Worked on Zach Panning have done the following:

  • Added infobox with as much information as I could find. Some things are left empty ie: height and weight as I've not been able to find that. Go to infobox sportsperson and see what would be applicable if you can find information.
  • Fixed references. Here is what I've done.
    • Journalists: You put the last name as "Gazette." Gazette is a publication not a their last name.
    • Publication: You can link to publishers if they have an article. Also, make sure you have the name of the publication correct ie: it's not Fort Wayne Journal Gazette. It's just Journal Gazette.
    • Date format: Properly format dates. I presume you're an American since you want to create an article for an American athlete. As such, you should know how to properly format dates. Day, month, year (DMY) and Year, month, day (YMD) are not correct formats. The United States is strictly month, day, year (MDY).
    • Language: You don't need to put the language unless it's not English. Putting English would only be necessary if it's a non-English Wiki.
  • Added references.
  • Added external links to bios on USA Track & Field and World Athletics sites, and social media.

What you need to do:

  • References: You need to go through all the remaining references, read them and see what you can use for information within the article.
  • Sections: You need to added early life and career sections.
  • Intro: As you go along, you need to continue to expand the intro to summarize key points in the article
  • Pictures: A picture for the infobox is always ideal if you can find one. There is help available to get a picture that doesn't violate copyrights and whatnot. I checked Openverse, but nothing came up.

Don't do:

  • Don't reference dump. It's makes it a mess when trying to fix them. References are fine, but expand the article. That way you can put the references where they need to be. Within those references, you use that for information within the article and not just as a reference. Make sure you look over the references to see if it can be used to reference the information with the article.

You said you're going to do 99 percent of this, you need to get on expanding it. The more you work on the sooner you can get it looked at and possible given the green light to be put in mainspace. Judging by other items on your talk page, you leave things in draftspace too long and they get deleted. Finally, it's going to be a little tougher to establish notability. Everything I've looked at, he's never medaled at World Championships (if he's ever qualified for it) nor has he been to the Olympics are far as I can see. Just things that need to be worked on before submitting it for review. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 02:50, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Even though I put in the template {{Use mdy dates|date=February 2024}} which automatically formats the dates properly, you're entering the date format wrong in the references. It's month-day-year (MDY). It's easier just to format it properly. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 15:02, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
