http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Debito_Arudou&oldid=233572938 Debito Arudou -- From Wikipedia

This is the first time I've witnessed Wikipedia being defeated by a bully. Have there been other cases in the past? (Could someone tell me? -- here on my talk page.)

I'm interested in cases of Wikipedia appeasing a rude bully, --or-- BLP of a minor self-promotor (zealot) who obssessively meddles with his Wikipedia entry, etc. Thank you.

Arudou and Gregory Clark[edit]

Gregory Clark is a real scholar, formerly professor of a leading university and Univ. president, (now Vice-President), who's been in Japan much longer, with many best-sellers, much respected by the Japanese and non-Japanese living in Japan and abroad, etc., etc.

While Gregory Clark doesn't have an entry in the English Wikipedia ---

Arudou getting a big entry underlines the weirdness (and weakness) of Wikipedia.

Gregory Clark, Akita International University Vice-President, views the lawsuit as the product of "ultrasensitivity" and "Western moralizing."[1][2]

Hi, Addmi. Welcome to Wikipedia!

We have a policy called Wikipedia:BLP - you need to take care when posting details about living people.

Please discuss your "Little Yellow Jap" edits at Talk:Debito Arudou . WhisperToMe (talk) 18:34, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To "WhisperToMe" --- "Being on the safe side" is a good idea.

You may be a reasonable person. To show that you're, please read what I just stated in the Talk page. I'd like to have some of the 5 references to be revived as soon as possible.

Which of the 5 references (if any) do you object to, and why? Arudou wouldn't mind a link to his Cartoon page. --Addmi (talk) 18:44, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • 1. Go to the talk page to discuss this (You did this)
  • 2. Wikipedia does not want legal issues
  • 3. Be Wikipedia:Civil

I feel I am very reasonable since Wikipedia takes BLP policies very seriously and we have to err in the side of caution. I am not familiar with the website you cited, so I (and others, i.e. Japanese speakers) will check the editorial policies to see if it is a Wikipedia:Reliable source WhisperToMe (talk) 20:07, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia was not defeated by a bully. It just happened that the Honjo site didn't work out under WP:BLP. If that site was totally acceptable under our policies, Arudou's request would not have been fulfilled. As per WP:BLP, we have to get the biography article right.
