wikipedia is not a source.[edit]

The fact that we have an article named something like cyclist does not define the term. Wikipedia is not a source.

See The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition:

cyclist [ˈsaɪklɪst] US, cycler n; a person who rides or travels by bicycle, motorcycle, etc.

feel free to check the fifty plus referenced sources handily listed on the cycling article, including many which do specifically define the term. they seem to contradict the reference you have provided, with the consensus being that 'cyclist' refers to the rider of a bicycle or other human powered vehicle, with the riders of motorcycles referred to by other terms. if you disagree with this, it seems that either the cycling or motorcycling article would be a more appropriate venue to take up the case. No, the listed term 'cyclist' was not appropriate. None of the persons referenced in the Alexian Lien beating article were riding bicycles. With that in mind, removing incorrect information from Wikipedia is just as important as adding new content. Tom (talk) 15:55, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
