Your work on Narcissism[edit]

It would probably be in your interests to converse with me about your plans for narcissism. I dont claim it is anywhere near perfect but i have done tons of work on it to improve it from its previous state. See my comments here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Psychology/Self_and_Identity --Penbat (talk) 16:26, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Yes, of course. I'm a 3rd year Psychology student and am working on narcissism as both my dissertation and as part of a module which involves this wiki article. The bit on healthy narcissism was wrong and the relationship between narcissism as a personality trait and nariccissm as NPD wrong. I covered that in the section I added. I'll be adding findings from a few more journal articles over the next few days, to that section. Information on narcists and self-enhancement most readily comes to mind. I'm not focusing on NPD but rather the other side so my stuff won't effect yours at all, hereon.(AGEdmunds)

I have no doubt of your good intentions but you are breaching some basic rules of Wikipedia etiquette and style. It is conventional to explain all but very small changes to articles using "Edit Summary" text. Also anything of the scale of changes you are doing deserves to be explained on the talk page so it can be seen what you are aiming to achieve. In this case the talk page is Talk:Narcissism
Also the work you have done so far has rough edges to it such as text like "Is narcissism healthy or unhealthy? Is narcissism personality disorder different from narcissism? Is narcissism a discrete or continuous variable? Is narcissism a defence or offense? Is narcissism the same or different across genders? Is narcissism the same across cultures? Is narcissism changeable or unchangeable?". It would have been better if you had done most of what you wanted to do on a separate copy of narcissism using the sandbox facility (as i have done on my user page see User:Penbat or take User:Hanjones's approach and do it on your user page itself). User:Hanjones also says she intends to get her alternative article approved before copying it into the live article. It is dangerous to do incomplete stuff piecemeal on the live articles as anybody viewing it can misinterpret your intentions and delete or amend your work as being unhelpful. I was initially tempted to delete your work as you had made big changes without any explanation until i realised who you were. I also may have issues with some of the content of what you have done so far. You have put a lot of weight onto the work of Campbell for example - what about the opinions of Masterson, Ronningstam, Kernberg and Millon for example. Also much of what you have done so far is inconsistent with standard Wiki formatting and style in various ways.--Penbat (talk) 23:18, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
