Denmark[edit]

At the world championships Hungary, Austria, and Germany all still play each other so the maximum points last place can have is 8. You can check this by taking all possible points remaining in their games (18), adding the points they already have (6), and then dividing them equally. In this case there would be (if Denmark lost all their remaining games) a four way tie at 8 points where Denmark would have 6 head to head points, so they could not be last.18abruce (talk) 09:48, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Except none of those teams are in Group B. "Top-14" refers to the top 7 in each group, and Denmark has not been mathematically eliminated from 8th in their group yet. 816mtm (talk) 13:21, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Correction - Denmark is in Group A, but your logic is still wrong. 816mtm (talk) 13:50, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is no logic, it is math, and the math says that you are wrong. If Austria won all their games and got to 10 points then Hungary would only be able to get to 8 points, and if that also happened then Germany would only be able to get to 6 points. No matter how you do it, the last placed team could not get more than 8 points, and if they did it would require all three of AUT, HUN, and GER to finish tied at that 8 points. Check the numbers, try it out with results from the games, you can't have both teams in a single game get 3 points as you tried to say in your edit summary.18abruce (talk) 19:53, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Would it help if I showed you more specifically every game outcome? I am not sure how to best help you to see it.18abruce (talk) 20:09, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well it doesn't matter now. They weren't in before to day and now they are 816mtm (talk) 23:10, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am trying to help you see your mistake, please demonstrate what part of the math does not add up for you. Additionally, Germany being qualified is very simply demonstrated, it is spelled here. Please take the time to detail what you believe to be the error instead of behaving disruptively.18abruce (talk) 00:53, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Austria's maximum number of points is 7. Germany currently only has 6. 7 is greater than 6. If correcting an error is "behaving disruptively", then there is a serious issue. 816mtm (talk) 00:55, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If Austria gets to 7 then Hungary can only get a maximum of 5. 5 is still less than 6 in your world?
