Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to New wave music. There's a rule against figuring out your own version; it can be seen at WP:No original research. The musicologists and music journalists have described new wave as coming from a few different things including punk, making new wave a post-punk genre. Binksternet (talk) 18:38, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Yes, but the term "post-punk" and it's classification as a genre of music came after new wave as many post-punk groups were originally described as new wave thus it doesn't make sense that new wave came from something that didn't exist yet. Also it is impossible for new wave to come from techno for the same reason. Techno started in the late 80s in Detroit whereas new wave has been around since the late 70's. Furthermore techno comes from house which in turn comes from synth-pop, a genre of new wave.
