Why Some People Are Just IPs[edit]

I prefer to post without an account. I lost my credentials to an account with 15 years of editing and couldn't recover them easily. No I wasn't banned or indef blocked. However, I found that I prefer to just edit as an IP because it makes it easier to maintain an impartial POV. It's also liberating to not be worried about your name or reputation and just focus on making the encyclopedia better. Too many people on this site use it for validation or ego building. My sole concern is with building impartial, well-curated knowledge. The only downside to posting as an IP is the classist view of Admins and other "power users" who I think see simple IP editing as an affront to their perceived self-importance. They are, I think, quite offended by the idea that people might not care about status on the site at all. Some of us just care about the mission.

Another point: it's also nice to be able to just reset your router when some editor with a chip on their shoulder decides to hound and harass you. I get a lot of that because I don't buy into the far-left POV of a lot of the articles on WP. Oh before you accuse me of making an unsourced claim please see this article from WPs Co-Founder who explains why NPOV is effectively dead and replaced with unrepentant Leftist bias: https://larrysanger.org/2020/05/wikipedia-is-badly-biased/ 47.197.54.139 (talk) 20:28, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removed another block of blathering. Did not read - nothing of value was lost.
