February 2023[edit]

Hello, I'm MaterialWorks. I noticed that in this edit to The Queen's College Boat Club, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. MaterialWorks (talk) 16:24, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I got curious[edit]

Obviously, as you said, we don't need an explicit policy that you can't misrepresent sources, but I did get curious if there is one. All three core content policies have language that alludes to that idea, but none say it outright. WP:HOAX sorta says it but also not quite. Finally did find it—WP:DISRUPTSIGNS #2. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 19:16, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Tamzin I think this would fall under WP:V - All quotations, and any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, must include an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the material — in this case the sources provided do not "directly support the material" because the edit is misrepresenting what the sources said.
It's an essay rather than a policy, but WP:CHERRYPICKING is the page that immediately sprung to mind for me when I read the block rationale on your talk page. 192.76.8.84 (talk) 19:46, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
