Request edit[edit]

{{request edit}} Hello. I am John Kindness, the artist responsible for the 'Bigfish' sculpture in Belfast. I have noticed recently that people have been referring to the work as 'The Salmon of Knowledge' and have traced this misnomer to wikipedia. There was never any reference to the Irish myth of the salmon of knowledge in the creation of the work so I don't know where this is coming from. I hope someone can remove this reference form the page. I chose the Atlantic Salmon as a symbol of renewal as these fish were beginning to return again to the river Lagan. Ironically the industries that created Victorian Belfast polluted the river so much that it stopped the salmon returning to spawn. Now that these industries have declined and the waters cleaned up, the fish are coming back again. Thank you, John Kindness, 15th July 2019
