Consonants[edit]
The set of consonants is similar to most English accents and dialects. Unless otherwise noted, these distinctions do not cross morpheme or word boundaries.
- The velar consonants /k/ and /ɡ/ are invariably palatalized to [kʲ] and [ɡʲ] before palatalizing vowels or palatal approximant /j/.*
- Glottal /h/ is almost always palatalized to [xʲ] before palatal approximent /j/ and usually also before /i/.
- Voiceless plosives /p/, /t/, and /k/ are aspirated before stressed vowels, unless preceded by /s/ (or /ʃ/ in loanwords).
