I am an administrator open to recall by the Wikipedia community, in the interests of democracy and accountability. My recall criteria are as follows.

Requirements for initiating a recall[edit]

A recall must be requested by three editors in good standing. For these purposes, an "editor in good standing" refers to any editor who:

  • has at least 500 edits, excluding edits to their own userspace;
  • is not blocked or banned at the time of making the request (unless they were blocked by me and they allege that the block was inappropriate).

Recall can be requested for any reason whatsoever. I do not have the right to determine what is or is not a valid reason for recall; otherwise there would be no point to the entire system. The key principles here are democracy, accountability, and the understanding that admins are servants of the community.

The opinions of administrators and bureaucrats will not be given any more weight than those of regular editors.

Recall procedure[edit]

If a successful recall request is initiated, I will resign immediately as an administrator using m:Requests for permissions (or, if this is not practicable, pledge to cease using my admin tools until the issue is resolved). If I wish to continue as an administrator, I will submit a reconfirmation request for adminship to allow the community to judge whether I should retain the tools. Those requesting recall will be invited to comment on the request.

Additional thoughts[edit]

A system such as the one I have outlined above should be mandatory for all administrators.
