Freedom through football (full title Freedom through football : the story of the Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls) is a book telling the history of the Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls, a sports and social club in Bristol, UK.

Content[edit]

The book was published in 2012 to coincide with the club's 20th anniversary.[2][3] Its focus is on football, although other sports, activities and related issues such as social justice and inclusion are also included.[2][1] Its preface is written by a former landlord of The Plough pub in Easton, Bristol.[2] Its photos include some previously unpublished[3][4] material showing pixellated[3][5] images of political activist and artist Banksy, taken while touring Chiapas in Mexico.[2][1][6][7][8]

Co-author and club secretary[3] Will Simpson, writing in STIR magazine, explained that the book also explores the club's "principles and ethics".[9]
