19" server/midrange enclosures[edit]

IBM 4997 Rack Enclosure[edit]

IBM Series/1 with IBM 4997 Rack

Uses circa 1980

Was used with IBM Series/1[1].

All rack mounted units (half or full width) are 356 mm (14.0 in) high except the 4962 Disk Storage Units (which are 495 mm (19.5 in) high) and Disk Unit can be installed only in bottom part of rack.

4997-1A and -1B are 1m hight, -2A and -2B are 1.8m.


IBM 9309 Rack Enclosure[edit]

Uses since 1986. [2] Biege tower without frontal door.[3] 62 in (1,600 mm) x 25 in (640 mm) x 36.5 in (930 mm)[4]

Was used with IBM 9370,[5][6] System/38 interfaces,[3] early AS/400 (type 9406),[7] with some RS/6000 servers (Type 7015) and with some S/390 (ES/9000)[8] rack-mount mainframes.

RS/6000 Rack Enclosures; rack have similar physical size as 9309-270 model, except additional frontal door.[9][10]
