Political Career[edit]

His first political role was as a Member of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, serving two consecutive terms from 2006 to 2014. Chutimant went on to become a Member of the House of Representatives for the Palang Pracharat Party from 2019 to 2022.

While in the House of Representatives, Kasidej served as the Spokesperson of the Commission on Court Affairs, Independent Organizations, Public Prosecutor Organizations, State Enterprises, Public Organizations and Funds. He also played the role of the Extraordinary Commissioner considering the construction project of the new parliament building and extending the expressway and skytrain (BTS) concession contract.

In addition, Kasidej served on the Special Committee to address issues related to the enforcement of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration regulations and to find solutions for land maintenance and development of public properties, including shared spaces in private and public areas nationwide. This was aimed at enabling the government to take development initiatives in areas such as abandoned private villages, with the goal of transforming them into public spaces.

He also participated in the Special Committee to monitor and audit the expenditure of borrowed funds intended to resolve economic and social issues stemming from the 2019 Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This was to ensure maximum benefits and to address the problem effectively.

Kasidej was also involved with the Special Committee to study and regulate electrical and communication lines, as well as the administration of street lighting nationwide. The aim of this committee was to organize communication lines and the project to bury electrical and other lines underground.

2014 Thai Coup d'état[edit]

During Kasidej's second term as a Member of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, his political career was interrupted by the 2014 Thai coup d'état. The Thai military, under the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), assumed control of the government. They instituted a series of measures, including the suspension of the country's constitution and the dissolution of the national legislature, which consequently affected the Bangkok Metropolitan Council where Kasidej was serving. This marked an abrupt pause in his political service.
