Tangerine in Blackpool[edit]
The colour tangerine has become synonmous with Blackpool and The Fylde so much so that there are companies such as Tangerine Confectionery and the Tangerine Group (Holdings?), which is owned by a Blackpool F.C. supporter,[1] Tangerine Design.[2] Tangerine Tots Day Nursery, Tangerine Design, based at Blackpool Technology Centre, Bispham, Blackpool, an IT services and computer repair company.
Other sports clubs in the town have tangerine kits. These include Blackpool Hockey Club - who also have the same town crest as Blackpool F.C.[3] Blackpool Panthers rugby league club, A.F.C. Blackpool - non-league football side, and former rugby leagu club Blackpool Borough.
Mighty Blackpool, a football club in Sierra Leone play in tangerine shirts.
On 11 June 2008 Anne, Princess Royal on an official trip to the resort wore a tangerine and white outfit.[4]
"The Blackpool Breakfast Experience" an initiative by local hotels and guesthouses includes a Blackpool Sausage, "delicately flavoured with a hint of tangerine."[5]
Donna's Dream House, a holiday home for children with life threatening or terminal illnesses has four family apartments including the Tangerine Room, which is decked out in Blackpool F.C. merchandise.[6]
When local counciller Robert Wynne was Mayor of Blackpool in 2007 he sported a tangerine suit whenever possible. On 28 February 2008 Radio wave organised a "Tangerine Day".
